Annual Blood Drive on the 4th of July weekend - sponsored by Dr. K.B. Chun and Sons My neighbor asked me if I would be able to participate in an Eagle Scout Project. Her friend's son was organizing a Blood Drive in conjunction with the annual Blood Drive that a dentist's office in Kailua sponsors every 4th of July weekend. Hmmm. She knows that I am a regular blood donor.
I was scheduled to donate in June, and I juggled my schedule around so that I could support two worthwhile projects at the same time! This event was well organized with live music; free shared parking in the lot next to Jack In The Box on Oneawa Street; and goodie bags for donors! It made me want to participate every year! If you're able to donate blood, please consider signing up for a convenient bloodmobile near you - or at the Dillingham or Young Street locations of the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Thanks to Dr. K.B. Chun and Sons for this fun and useful annual community event! I'm looking forward to participating again next year!

My husband and I got teeth cleanings there and the dentist there knows that as a patient at a dental clinic we aren't wearing masks (a Covid-19 measure required by law) because they have to have access to our mouths. So why does the dentist walk around without wearing a mask putting his patients AND employees at risk? It is disappointing to see this medical facility not take people's health seriously. No sure if I will be returning. Please do better. P.s. my teeth cleaning was good, that's the only reason I didn't give it one star.

I highly highly recommend K B Chun and Sons. I am not too fond of going to the dentist, from some bad experiences. I had gotten a bad infection from my wisdom tooth. The pain was a 15/10. I knew that their place opened at 8:00am, but did not know they were closed on Thursdays. I had just found out the door was locked. I started to walk back to my car and saw one of the doctors walking into the building.
I expressed how excruciating the pain was. He immediately told me to come in and sit down. Soon his wife and another doctor came, who call assisted me. Not only were they able to get an x-ray, prescribe some medication, but they were very friendly. You would think that someone would have an attitude, with it being their day off. It felt like I had known them for years.
I have never had a doctor care for me so much. This is one of the best dentist offices I have ever experienced. Mind you, I have had dentist telling me I should get my wisdom pulled for years now: not once did they judge me or comment on it.

Never going back. I went in for an extraction simply because I couldn't afford anything else but Dr. Mitchell insisted that I save the tooth by getting a root canal. We had just had a newborn and were living off of my bf's single income (which didn't include dental insurance for me) so we declined but he assured us we could set up a payment plan.
Following the procedure i had to go back several times with my baby!) because I was still in excruciating pain. After the 3rd revisit Dr. Mitchell finally told me the root canal failed so he'd have to extract the tooth like I asked for in the first place All in all, my bf had to pay out of pocket for all the procedures, visits, and prescriptions Dr. Mitchell talked us in to.

Terrible and unprofessional. A family member had an uncomfortable and emergency situation with their teeth and instead of addressing it right away, they made the patient come back 6 days later. They sent patient out without placing a temporary fix which would have been the right thing to do. Instead, patient had to wait 6 days. Then to make it worst.
Even though the replacements were ready ahead of time, they still made the patient wait two more days until they could address it. How cruel to make the patient uncomfortable for so long without any temporary remedy. Very Unprofessional! And insulting to the sensitivity of the matter.

This office is awful. Rude staff, rude dentist. I waited 5 weeks for the appointment. They said they might be moving in to a new office & would call me to tell which office to go to. The never did. I had to call & ask the day of the appointment. They never mailed me the paperwork they were supposed to, so I showed up 15 minutes early to fill it out.
I then sat there for 40 minutes waiting for my appointment. At one point a girl came out & offered water to another patient who had been waiting 5 minutes but not anyone else. When I finally went in I said I needed to be out by the time they originally told me I would be done. They had told me it would be a 2 hour initial visit, which I personally thought was crazy for a check-up & cleaning. Dr Mitchell then came in & harassed me about where I needed to go after & why couldn't I stay longer.
I was disgusted. He was so rude & smug. I told him I just wanted to leave already. I then had the worst cleaning I've ever experienced! The hygienist was rough & rude. Told me a ton of tartar because I hadn't had a cleaning in a long time. I told her I just had one in July from my dentist who retired. She then told me I had periodontal disease & of course recommended a deep cleaning which I'm sure is big bucks. Funny, my previous dentist of 3 years never said anything like that. She's not even a dentist!
A hygienist can't diagnose that! I then went to leave and told them I wasn't paying for anything but a cleaning. They at least didn't charge me for a doctor exam but I mad I wasted one of my 2 yearly cleanings on this torture. Skip this office unless you love torture.

, I have recently had some partials made for my upper and lower jaw which were metal and clamped on to existing teeth in most cases molars. Although the partials came out great the poor workmanship of clamping the new partials to teeth that where extremely decayed which ended up having to be pulled by a doctor that I went to for my second opinion.
I was given a full mouth x ray which clearly showed how totally rotten the teeth being fastened to were so terrible even to my untrained eye. I would look around for a different dentist if you are considering partials. service was great workmanship and expertise terrible all the teeth that were fastened to had to be pulled and new partials by my second opinion were made.

I went to Dr. Mitchell Chun to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I was extremely nervous and didn't know what to expect, but Dr. Mitchell and his assistant made me feel very comfortable. The procedure was done in a timely manner and I couldn't have been more happy with his work. He sent me home with very helpful cleaning instructions and a syringe to rinse my mouth.
Thanks to his excellent work my mouth healed perfectly and he saved my teeth from shifting. I would highly recommend Dr. Mitchell and their dentist office they are all very welcoming and professional and I think it's really great that they are a family business.

I saw Dr Mitchell Chun. He was sarcastic & demeaning regarding my chronic illness (which has nothing to do with my teeth). After 5 years of being treated at Stanford University, Mitchell Chun talked to me as if he knew better how to treat my illness & implied it was my fault. He laughed & smirked when I calmly explained it is a neurological disorder.
As if a dentist has any idea about neurology. As he continue to belittle me & prod me for more details I tried to redirect the questioning to the one dental question I had asked him. When this did not work, I got up from the dental chair & told him that I refused to let him talk to me that way & was leaving. I told the very kind receptionist about my experience & asked if I could talk to a manager.
She brought Mitchell's brother, Norman Chun, to talk to me. I started to explain what happened, but he had already talked to his brother & was clearly irritated with me. Norman was dismissive & opened the door, telling me to just leave if I wasn't happy. I never raised my voice. I am most often described as a really nice person. I was shocked by the treatment I received at this dental office & will not return.

I've been seeing Dr. Mark Chun for 20 years and Anna has it all wrong. Dr. Mark and his brothers Dr. Norm and Dr. Mitchell are the BEST dentists in Hawaii. SHE must have been the one who was rude because the Chuns are always polite, patient, kind, understanding and considerate. They keep up to date with the newest equipment, advances and techniques in dentistry, support other dentists in learning modern methods, and do everything possible to keep you from suffering, working on emergency weekends and doing trades with those who can't afford to pay.
Their office is cheerful and comfortable and their patients stay with them for life. I wouldn't trust my teeth to any other dentist. Dr. Mark removed and replaced a crown in one day fashioning it via computer and laser on the spot! And it's so beautiful and perfect even I can't tell it apart from my other teeth.

Definitely not coming here again. The only nice person here was the receptionist. The dentist was rude & would literally talk behind my back about what I needed fix. The main reason why I came to a dentist in the first place was to target my problems and get rid of them, not having a person throw jokes and become unprofessional.

Dr. Chun and Sons is the only place to go on Oahu for dentistry for the whole family. Fair, honest, kind, affordable, skilled. Nice to have both adult and pediatric dentistry in the same office. We are a military family with 5 children. Our frequent moves have given us many dentists to compare, and Dr. Mark Chun and Dr. Norman Chun are far better than any other dentists we have ever seen.
I had a problem painful tooth for over 15 years, and had multiple costly procedures done by other dentists that failed to help the pain. Dr. Mark performed an inexpensive simple procedure that reduced my pain significantly. Dr. Norman is great about putting the kids at ease. Fun office with a coin operated toy machine, and they give the kids a quarter to buy a prize after the cleaning.
My kids loved it. Made going to the dentist fun. Friendly, small town atmosphere where the staff remembers your name. Comprehensive exams with state of the art x-ray equipment, and dentists who have knowledge of the latest in dentistry and a holistic approach that considers your other health and personal needs. Everything you could want in a dentist office is here. I no longer live on the island, but I seriously would schedule a dentist appointment if I happened to be visiting. They really are that good!
