Do you find that you don’t have the energy you used to enjoy? Have you lost interest in the things that used to inspire you? Are you irritable, depressed, or moody? Do you need several cups of coffee just to make it through the day? If so, then you may have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening condition in which your breathing stops frequently during sleep. Left untreated, it can lead to premature death from many causes. But treatment can help reduce the risk.
Unfortunately, for many people the recommended treatment for sleep apnea is almost as bad as the disease itself. CPAP is uncomfortable, invasive, and not worth the trouble for most people. More than half of people prescribed CPAP give up on it and have untreated sleep apnea as a result.
We offer a more comfortable and convenient sleep apnea treatment. Oral appliance therapy is just as effective as CPAP, but it’s a lot easier to stick to. Almost everyone who tries oral appliance therapy keeps it up. To learn whether oral appliance therapy is right for you, please call 212-557-8668 today for an appointment with sleep dentist Dr. Karthilde Appolon at Appolon Dental Group in Columbus Circle.

Do you have headaches or jaw pain that your doctor hasn’t been able to explain? Have common treatments not worked or provided only minimal relief? Do you have other unexplained symptoms like ringing in the ears, neck pain, or tooth wear? If so, then you may have one or more temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ or TMD) . These jaw conditions are hard to diagnose and treat, and many doctors and even dentists will miss them.
Dr. Karthilde Appolon is trained in neuromuscular dentistry, an approach to treating TMJ that can give great results with noninvasive, reversible treatments. Please call 212-557-8668 today for a TMJ evaluation at Appolon Dental Group in Columbus Circle.

Regular dental checkups and cleanings are a great way to protect not just your smile, but your overall health. Although your at-home routine is important to protecting your oral health, regular checkups and cleanings are essential. We can clean tooth deposits that you can’t remove yourself, and we can detect signs of developing problems before they become serious. This doesn’t just help your smile, it can protect your overall health. In fact, people who see their dentist regularly have a 23% lower stroke risk than those that only see their dentist when there’s a problem.

I've been to a lot of dentists/oral care specialists in my life- from moving states, getting braces, teeth pulled and so on. Dr. Appolon is the best of them all. She took her time to answer all my questions and then some. I went in for an exam, and she's beyond gentle and thorough. I didn't even realize she was poking around in my mouth at one point! If you get anxiety about going to the dentist, or think you have a problem that needs some more TLC, Dr. Appolon is the place to go.

Read the fine print. I wanted to whole heartily support a black dental group but this company was not forth coming or super clear with the process and it overall was an uncomfortable experience. Their Office is nice and easy to get to. Short version: I've had three points of contacts: two zooms and in person meeting and still no cleaning. Long version: If you're looking for cosmetics this may be the place but a standard yearly cleaning and check up Became complicated.
I was initially told that there would be a zoom call as sort of a meet and greet. I was ok with that. I was also asked to take photos of my teeth and face and email to them. I was unfamiliar with this process but proceeded. I chatted with the doc and it seemed well and I was Under the impression my next visit in person would be a cleaning. I arrived for My In-person visit and took more photos and uncomfortable X-rays for about an hour.
The doctor comes in and says almost the exact thing she said from the zoom and followed up with that she wanted to study photos and have a zoom a few days later. I was highly annoyed and confused at this point. The next zoom appointment commences and she tells some dental advocate will be on the call. I never met this woman before and didn't understand how she would benefit.
After an hour call, where there was still no new information presented other than that she would review my file again and submit a claim to my insurance and I could find out in 4-6 weeks if I would be covered. The team kept stating that were comprehensive but it overall didn't impact my experience. I wish them well but it was not for me.

I wish I could write a good review since my initial contacts with the office was quite pleasant. But once I arrived for my new patient appointment I was made to wait 20m before anyone acknowledged that I was to be seen besides the admin who checked me in. While waiting the doctor and her assistants kept looking at me so they knew I was there and there was no one else in the waiting room.
People came in and left with no explanation of why I was waiting. I didnt think that the doctor or her staff were nice or considerate again not withstanding the admin. And so I decided to leave without seeing the dentist. Overall healthcare should come with good service. Especially if the service is at a significant numerical cost. Which to me it is as a small business owner.
I also dont want to be shamed because I am not part of a big corporate insurance network since while at the office they mentioned many times how I did not have dental insurance and it was not done respectfully. My $$ should be better than an insurance company's especially considering the cost for the visit was higher in comparison to other dentists in the area.
But I wanted to support an African American dentist as a fellow scientist from historically black college. But Im finding many MDs and DDs commonly shame entrepreneurs and freelancers because we have less EPO and PPO dental insurance options from insurance providers which many medical professionals are not always empathetic to. The good reviews I read regarding this business is not aligned with my experience and overall the doctor and the staff treated me unprofessionally and were inconsiderate of my time.

I had an appointment today with Dr. Appolon and it was by far the most professional and extensive experience I've ever had. Coming from the inconsistent service of Montefiore Dental to here was such a breath of fresh air that I haven't felt with other practices. The staff greeted me the moment I walked in and knew who I was which was so awesome. I'm definitely looking forward to being a regular client here.

! BEWARE COMPLETE FRUAD! Do NOT come here if you are looking for a good Dentist. Dr. Appolon is a liar and complete FRUAD. She told me I had 10 cavities, gum disease, and had to get a root canal. She told me I had to pay $1,100 to get each teeth fixed, along with $ 2,500 treatment for gum disease. Something just didn't seem right about her diagnosis and ridiculous prices for the treatments.
I asked on many occasions to send me information regarding my medical findings so I can look over it. The Doctor REFUSED to provide me with my medical findings. Failure to provide me with a copy of my health information is AGAINST THE LAW ( Under HIPAA Doctors are REQUIRED to provide patients with a copy of health information when requested). I will be reporting this I decided to NOT schedule any more appointments with this fraudulent Dentist.
I found a Professional Dentist that examined my mouth and concluded that I only had 3 cavities and did not have gum disease, and did not need a root canal. I ended up only being charged $ 260.20 to fill three cavities.

My experience with Appolon Dental Group was amazing. The office is immaculate, the staff is very warm and friendly. You don't feel like just another patient, they make it very personal. The doctors are very detailed with every intimate detail of what is going on with you and how they will proceed with the planned treatment/procedure. If you're feeling anxious in anyway shape or form, they have some very well thought out remedies to help soothe you and put you at ease as the doctors skillfully and masterfully work on you. Hands down this is the best dental group I've ever experienced and I'd recommend them to anyone I know.

Dr Appolon and her staff are the most thoughtful and caring group of Dental professionals I have ever met. I have had a regular dentist for various reasons since I was six years old ( I’m 45- Do the math) and I have never had a dentist who took such a comprehensive approach. Dr Appolon really cares that her patients are comfortable and understand the process. I can’t say enough good things about my experience.

This is my first negative review I've ever posted. I went in needing a root canal. She took pictures with a camera and decided that my entire mouth was essentially infected, which was strange because my last dentist said my mouth was mostly fine other than a bad cavity. I asked her to go into more detail and she very kept refusing saying that we needed to have another comprehensive appointment to understand what was going on.
I was only in there for 20 minutes so I couldn't comprehend why we couldn't even talk about it but when I asked again, she seemed to get increasingly annoyed. She referred me to a root canal specialist and then put numbing gel directly on the impacted tooth, which obviously resulted in incredible pain until she realized she messed up and took it off.
I don't know how a trained dentist would think that was ok. If she did need to numb me (she didn't) she should've gave me a numbing shot, not a gel. I found my own dentist who was an NYU dental school lecturer and specialized in gums. He said that there was no infection, basically said she didn't know what she was doing, and was able to perform the root canal without any pain. Dr Appolon is a tremendously unskilled dentist and probably the rudest doctor I've ever been to. AVOID.

I have been a patient of the Appolon Dental Group for 5+ years now and the experience has been really terrific. Dr Appolon has been instrumental in helping me improve my dental hygiene through the use of additional flossing / an electric toothbrush / a perio tray. The occasional tooth decay was treated with unparalleled care. Dr Appolon went above and beyond to make the procedure painless offering appropriate local anesthesia, shade glasses, relaxing music and a pain relief patch. I recommend Dr Appolon wholeheartedly - 5 stars!

I want to begin by saying Dr. Appolon and her team are exceptional in every way. The moment I entered her practice I was at ease by the friendly staff and appreciated the attention to detail in cleanliness. I went to her in a state of desperation as I had a prior dentist who didn’t understand my needs and was not doing cleanings properly. I had a a series of gum issues, black buildup, and several other areas that needed immediate attention.
Dr. Appolon and her team took extensive photos.
She then detailed what procedures were needed. She also presented an in depth video of friendly and hygienic solutions that would steer my dental journey in the right direction. What really separates her from other dentist is the level of comfort she provides to her patients. They have the latest and most innovative relaxation music that is administered with headsets along with a pillow to help ease the cleansing process.
I don’t know about you but I have never been to a dental office where they offered pillows. I now get so many compliments on my teeth and I haven’t even finished the work I want done. Thank you Dr. Appolon! If you were wondering if this office is for you I strongly suggest not wasting your time and looking for anyone else, simply make an appointment. You will not be disappointed.

My experience with Dr. Appolon has been nothing but great time and time again. She’s a genuinely kind, caring and thorough dentist. I admire the patience and honesty that she’s had with me through the years and her staff is as good as she is, well mannered, kind, friendly and they make you feel as much comfortable as possible in a not very comfortable situation ❤️❗️

I am usually not a fan of going the dentist, but I will say I actually was looking forward to my next appointment when I went here. -The office is bright and inviting. Often some offices look very dim and drab. - The staff was always welcoming. - Dr. Appolon was very nice, through, knowledgeable, and understanding of my apprehension related to dental procedures. - When it was time for my procedure to be done, I felt like my comfort was a top priority to Dr. Appolon.
She continued to make sure that I was comfortable throughout the procedure. To me that is important because being comfortable in the beginning of a procedure doesn't always guarantee that it will stay that way throughout the procedure. - I feel that Dr. Appolon fully understands that many people who are fearful of going to the dentist and she has done a great job providing patients with cutting edge methods and technology to help them relax. - I think that she is a great dentist and I would definitely recommend this practice to others. I'm often recommending them to the people around me.

Dr. Karthilde Appolon is the best dentist I have ever been to. This is a top-notch, full-service dental office staffed by really great people, conveniently located, in a new, clean, state-of-the-art office. When I first started seeing Dr. Appolon about 5 years ago, I had problems with several botched crowns, inserted crooked so they were chipping off teeth opposite.
After catching an active infection, Dr. Appolon was able to set me on a plan to correct my bite with Invisalign and replace every tooth in my mouth with sparkling crowns. I've seen first-hand how Dr. Appolon adopts new and revolutionary practices, always state-of-the-art, including electrical stimulation (tensing) to relax the jaw, and NuCalm which promotes healing and simulates meditation. Dr. Appolon is extremely detail-oriented, taking as much time as necessary to get everything perfect.
Which means it's not fast, but it's done right. Some of my teeth required root canals - Dr. Appolon referred me to an incredible doctor for that. I needed a couple of extractions and implants. Dr. Appolon referred me to an amazing surgeon. Now that my full reconstruction is complete Dr. Appolon has provided a night guard, so my grinding won't destroy all our work.
Besides routine scaling, Dr. Appolon has me using trays with Perio-Gel to actively prevent infection. And the office worked with me to obtain financing, processed all insurance claims and generally has been a place I look forward to going, rather than dreading. Appolon Dental Group has helped me so much. I'm blessed to be in such good hands.

I've had the unfortunate pleasure of needing a lot of dental work. After moving to NYC I was in need of a new dentist and I specifically sought out a black organization as a part of my black healthcare network. I found Dr. Appolon and couldn't be happier with her care. Her all-women led office is staffed with professionals who provide above and beyond service and hospitality. I'm used to the pain that comes with dental procedures and they made it undeniably the best experience with minimal discomfort to date. I would highly recommend Dr. Appolon and her team. I'm truly spoiled now because of them.

This was my first time visiting Dr. Appolon's office and I was totally impressed. I was going to another dentist where everything was hectic and I felt like a number not a patient. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable, which can also be unusual in NY. Dr. Appolon was thorough in her questions and examine. Her level of care and recommendations were unlike anything I've received before.
The views can't be beat. If you have to go to the dentist, you might as well enjoy the experience with lots of windows and a view onto Carnegie Hall, Central Park and 7th Ave. I strongly recommend Dr. Appolon.

The doctor does not have good bedside manners. She spent an hour trying to sell me a $2,000 treatment that was not covered by insurance. An hour! In that hour she could've done one of the many fillings she claimed I so badly needed. She made me feel really bad about my oral health. I understand her role in telling me what I need to do to improve my oral health, but asking " how important is it to you?" And repeatedly saying "that doesn't look good" or "I don't want your teeth to fall out" doesn't help.
You don't have to scare me in order for me to get the proper treatments. What a joke! If I'm at the dentist voluntarily, not because of any pain, it's obvious my oral health is important to me. It felt a bit condescending. That along with the aggressive sales pitch (for teeth!) really turned me off. Oh, after being there for 2.5 hours she asks me if I'm short on time. No consideration at all. I did not come there to listen to a sales pitch. Never again!

Just the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist. She recommended a "deep cleaning" and informed me that I had two cavities which needed filling. Like a total rube I went with it because I've always been taught to trust my dentist. $2000 later (which was only partially covered by insurance, because they didn't cover the deep cleaning) I returned to my old dentist who couldn't believe I'd had those procedures done and thought they were completely unnecessary.
I was content to just stop going to Dr. Appolon's office, but since I've been contacted repeatedly for three years to "schedule my next appointment." I don't even live in New York anymore. I've let the office know, but the emails and phone calls just keep coming. So now I'm leaving this review with the hope that I'll deter some other sucker from going to a crappy dentist.

I cannot agree more with Mike G.'s review. I found Dr. Appolon via ZocDoc. I needed a routine cleaning and she was near my office. Red flags immediately went off when I was told they would need to take a series of photographs, not just x-rays, to possibly suggest some cosmetic or orthodontic work. I explained that I had plenty of work done in my youth and simply needed a cleaning.
They insisted on the photos and I reluctantly complied. Then during the cleaning Dr. Appolon proceeds to tell me that I will need 4 crowns and 4 fillings and that my front and back teeth are touching too much and will probably need that fixed (even though I had an overbite repaired when I was younger). Also that I have gingivitis and if not taken care of immediately, my teeth would fall out. I've only had one cavity in my life and have never received such a drastic prognosis from a routine cleaning. BS detector is in high alert at this time.
I agreed to go back to speak with their "insurance specialist" (which I was told was free) to see what the total bill would be.over $5K worth of dental work (not counting the orthodontia)! Not only that, but they refused to speak to me about the insurance until they took another series of photos and x-rays and had Dr. Appolon inspect my teeth again, pretty much repeating exactly what she did during the cleaning all the while implying how urgent and imperative it was for me to get this work done ASAP.
Their explanation for why I had never heard any of this feedback before from other dentists? Well they were just so much more thorough and technologically advanced. Like I was previously seeking dentistry in Appalachian country or something. They charged my insurance for a consultation fee even though I was explicitly told that the insurance specialist visit would be free. Bewildered by the amount of work recommended I sought a second opinion. His prognosis - no gingivitis and one filling. Total bill $184. BULLET DODGED.

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Short version: Told her I needed a tooth out, was very clear about that. Went to office, sat down in chair.oh yeah you need that tooth out. WHAT?! Long version: I had a wisdom tooth that was absolutely killing me. I knew I needed it taken out. I was on high doses of percocet and Vicodin and it was barely making a dent in the pain.
I had a friend who was in dental school visiting me that weekend, he looked at it and said you absolutely need it taken out asap. Called Dr. Appolon and explain VERY clearly. I need this tooth taken out, not a referral, not pain killers, I need the tooth out. Can.you.do.that? I mean this sounds obnoxious the way I am writing it now but I wanted to be very clear what I wanted and that she could do it.
Her response: Yes come in and see me. Went to see the Dr. She sat me down in the chair, looked at the tooth and said "Hmmm, yeah you need that tooth out." I almost lost my mind. I wasted all my time in EXTREME pain getting there, and not looking for other Dr.s. I was livid. She then proceeded to give me an Rx of Naproxen. Me and my wife who was with me said I don't do well with NSAIDs.
She said.and I quote! "Naproxen isn't an NSAID". Now I know she is a Dentist but she should really know what an NSAID is. Either way, I would never recommend anyone go to this Dentist under any circumstances. She put through a horrible experience when I was in the most pain in my life, just so she could charge me a $50 office visit. Wish I could give 0/5 stars.

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING TREATED LIKE GARBAGE and like getting incorrect information, constantly. Firstly, all the office hours you will find on the internet, including her own website are inaccurate. Despite representing themselves as "emergency" when I called with an emergency on a Saturday (they claim to be open until 5) I was informed the doctor was leaving early (by 3 hours according to her website) because she had "things to do". Also, after I told her my insurance provider, magically, the office was closed for the next two days which would inevitably mean I would go somewhere else while the website advertised it would be open Sunday and Monday for 9 hours.
I guess the Lady Dentist had more "things to do". Also, I can never understand how the nastiest ladies in the office always seem to get phone duty. I went to the NYU School of Dentistry instead (they have an emergency center on 24th st.) where I was not only treated like a person, but had my emergency addressed and paid next to nothing.

Please do not go here! Appolon fraudulently billed my insurance for $2,000 worth of dental work that was never performed during my half hour exam. I am currently disputing the charges. She also told me I had a few cavities which I found out wasn't true when I went to another dentist. The office is small, dirty and very unprofessional.

Great experience! For the cleaning she performed herself- very through and gentle. It was very easy to made another appointment 2 days later to have a filling that had been bothersome for months. I had been putting it off until I found a great dentist. There was no pain and she explained almost every step of the way. I was told to let her know by raising my arm if i felt any discomfort. She is very easy to talk to and seems genuinely concerned with my well being. All in all a great trip to the dentist and I will definitely be back;

My experience with Dr. Appolon was great. She really took her time with me and made me feel comfortable. She was thorough and explained everything to me. It was my first visit with her. When I left the office, I looked forward to returning and I felt inspired to take better care of my teeth as well.

I've been going to Dr Appolon for more then 5 years. The time you come in for your appointment is the time you get seen. She's straight forward, no nonsense person who tells you what you really need to do to keep your teeth in good working order.
PS: I've had less issues in the last 5-6 years then in the whole 20+ years I've seen any other doctor.

Having a fear of going to the dentist, from the time I walked into the office and then met Dr Appolon I was completely at ease. I was taken right away. I went to see her for a second opinion and glad I did. The doctor sat and explained to me in detail the dental work I needed. I decided to go with her. We began the dental work and I am very pleased. Dr Appolon has a gentle touch and checked in with me as she prepared my teeth for a crown. After the visit I resumed my day with no discomfort orbpain. I am very pleased.
