Dr. Kevin Berry chose to focus his practice exclusively on the treatment of some very specific problems. While its certainly rewarding for a dentist to create a beautiful smile, he found that helping to relieve the crippling symptoms of conditions like TMJ disorder brought about a greater improvement in quality of life for patients.
Our average patient is either in pain, unable to get quality sleep, or needs help improving their ability to move. In any of these cases, we are able to help patients learn about the options for their care, and in most cases bring about powerful change in their lives through our non-surgical treatments.
Patients find themselves enjoying a new standard in quality of life, living each day in less pain, with improved energy levels, and able to do things that they never dreamed would be possible to do again in their lifetime. If you live in the Denver area or can travel to our office, we would love to learn about your goals and discuss the options available to help you.

Do you experience regular, recurring jaw pain? Do you have headaches on a regular basis? Have your doctor and the specialists they refer you to been unable to help? If so, then you might have temporomandibular joint disorders (called TMJ or TMD) . This condition (or, rather, multiple conditions with related causes and similar effects) can cause many different symptoms throughout your head and neck. Sometimes the symptoms are felt as far away as your fingers, which can be numb or tingly.
These conditions are notoriously hard for doctors to diagnose and treat. But they can be treated. And when they’re treated, all the symptoms will diminish, or, in some cases, disappear. A dentist with dedicated training and extensive experience in treating TMJ can dramatically improve your odds of getting relief. Not only that, but treatment is often noninvasive and drug-free.
If you live in Colorado and are looking for relief from your TMJ, we can help. Denver TMJ dentist Dr. Kevin Berry has 20 years experience helping people in the metro area get relief from pain.

When it comes to treating obstructive sleep apnea, the treatment will depend on the underlying cause of the sleep apnea. Dr. Berry will first determine what is causing your airway to narrow while you are sleeping. Sometimes obstructive sleep apnea is caused by something as small as the way you sleep or a health condition you are dealing with such as a respiratory infection. Sometimes something as simple as a behavioral change may be all that is necessary.
If, after reviewing your sleep study results, Dr. Berry feels that your obstructive sleep apnea can be effectively treated with an oral sleep apnea appliance, he will then work with you to identify just how much an oral appliance must reposition your jaw to pull the tongue and jaw forward so that while you are sleeping at night, your throat and airway is free of any sort of blockage that may cause you to stop breathing. We custom-fit your oral appliance with iTero digital scans. No need to bite into a tray of goop to get a custom appliance.
In some cases factors such as genetics and obesity may be the cause of, or at least a contributing factor in your obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Berry will discuss treatment options with you to ensure that your sleep apnea is properly taken care of. An alternative method of treatment for those with obstructive sleep apnea may be weight-loss with the help of special diets or weight-loss surgery.

Causes of Snoring
When it comes to snoring there isn’t just one specific cause. It happens when the tissues located in the throat and in the soft palate vibrate. This vibration is caused by a narrowed airway, when air is not able to flow freely in and out as a person breathes during sleep. There are various tissues that may be the culprit of it. These may include any number of the following:
Soft palate
Uvula
Tongue
Excess fatty tissue in the throat
Tonsils and/or adenoids
It may be helpful to read more about sleep apnea, what it is, and how it affects you if you are a chronic snorer.

The term “Movement disorders” describes a wide array of neurological disorders that plague children and adults throughout the country. These disorders cause sufferers to have difficulty walking, talking, and performing all sorts of tasks that others take for granted. They can also cause tremors, facial tics and terrible stutters, while causing some to lose the use of extremities altogether.
Dr. Berry can treat the symptoms of a variety of movement disorders, including:
Parkinson’s Disease
Multiple Sclerosis
Torticollis
Tourette’s Syndrome
Our treatment of movement disorder symptoms s involves oral appliances that are fitted to your upper and/or lower teeth. These oral appliances reposition the jaw to alleviate pressure on nerves and blood vessels that connect to the brain and reduce or eliminate symptoms in many patients.
During your first visit to our Denver office, Dr. Berry assesses your bite and determines the best way to reposition it. An impression of your teeth is then taken and sent out to our lab to begin construction on your new appliance.
Follow-up appointments are required to fine-tune the positioning by adjusting your appliance to maximize the relief of your symptoms.
You may find that your ability to walk with a stable gate returns, or your facial tics subside. Some patients have reported signs of improvement within seconds of wearing their new appliance, allowing them to feel better instantly.

Athletes of all types should definitely consider a performance-enhancing, neuromuscular mouthguard such as the PPM (Pure Power Mouthguard) in Denver. These mouth pieces are crafted in a way that, just as with traditional mouthguards, the impact of force is distributed and directed to help minimize injuries, but neuromuscular mouthguards go further. Neuromuscular ones such as Pure Power Mouthguards in Denver not only protect the teeth but can enhance and improve any athlete’s game. The use of a PPM can contribute to improvement in any or all of the following:
Improved airflow
Increased amount of overall strength
Better balance
More flexibility
Better agility
Other benefits!
Neuromuscular Mouthguards Go Beyond Contact Sports
In addition to being great for athletes who play contact sports like football and hockey, neuromuscular mouthguards help athletes in any type of sport, including but not limited to:
Golf
Skiing and Snow boarding
Horseback riding
Tennis and Racquetball
Baseball
Soccer
…and any other sport that requires balance, strength, or coordination.

As you age, your skin becomes worn, brittle, and damaged by environmental stressors such as the sun. The resulting wrinkles around your mouth and eyes can make you appear terse and unapproachable. Dr. Kevin Berry can help you fight these signs of aging with regular BOTOX ® Cosmetic treatments.
BOTOX ® Cosmetic is a prescription medication commonly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and restore your good looks. This FDA-approved serum is injected into facial muscles to relax them, causing them to release their tough hold on your skin. In this way, you can reduce the appearance of frown lines and other signs of aging so that you can feel confident in your appearance.
Botox ® Cosmetic is a safe way to give yourself a smooth appearance. By blocking nerve impulses, this injectable serum relaxes target muscles that hold onto tough signs of aging. The limited movement of these muscles will temporarily prevent them from pulling on your skin and surrounding muscles in ways that create wrinkles.
Your treatment will use very thin needles, so you shouldn’t feel any discomfort during your visit. If you have sensitive skin, Dr. Berry will work with you to make sure that you feel comfortable during your treatment. Sessions only take a few minutes, and many people see results after just one treatment. Results vary from patient to patient, but you can expect to see a significant improvement for up to four months following your visit. Your results can become more permanent with regular treatments, recommended every four months for best results.

Trigger point injection (TPI) is a treatment for chronic pain that is designed to combat referred pain, which can be notoriously difficult to track down and treat. Referred pain is a crucial pain mechanism in the development of TMJ, which has made it hard for many people with the condition to get treatment that really relieves their symptoms. Because patients report pain in places where there is no obvious problem, the symptoms are often labeled “psychosomatic, ” and people may be prescribed a generic pain medication, antidepressants or other psychological medications, or even a placebo.
Trigger point injection is designed to identify the source of these symptoms and treat them there, relieving discomfort that can often be quite distant from the source.
Trigger point injections numb your pain at the source, not where it’s felt. Referred pain is generated at one point, but it is felt somewhere else that typically shares either a sensory nerve branch or processing point in the brain.
Once the trigger point is located, a local anesthetic is used to numb it. Sometimes an injectable steroid is used as well to help control swelling that can contribute to pain. Depending on the exact circumstances, pain relief may be immediate or may take time to develop.
Benefits of Trigger Point Injections
Trigger point injections are often a better way to address chronic pain in the head, neck, and jaw. That’s because trigger point injections:
Work when other treatments don’t
Relieve pain at injection site and referred site
Provide long-lasting relief
Are a noninvasive treatment
Have little risk of complications
Because of these advantages, trigger point injections are a great option for treating TMJ. The complex configuration of muscles, nerves, and joint structures makes referred pain much more likely.

It's always nerve racking to see a new dentist, however, I felt totally comfortable at Dr. Berry's office. I came to get treated for TMJ symptoms and get a treatment plan. I had a great experience and Dr. Berry answered all my questions and reexplained treatments and conditions I didn't understand. Joan was also very helpful in getting my paperwork sorted. Definitely would come here again!

Dr. Berry is probably the only dental professional I trust. He has been incredibly kind to me throughout the few years I've received treatments at his office. Honest, personable and compassionate while keeping me in check so that I can progress. Not to mention he had corrected my TMJ immensely to where I wasn't feeling pain everytime I opened my jaw. He is one of the good guys!

I'm so glad I found Dr. Berry's office when I did. I've been struggling with ear/headaches from TMJ for about a year and have been passed around from doctor to doctor without anyone knowing what is wrong. Dr Berry took x-rays and was very thorough about explaining the problem. Since starting treatment 2 months ago my headaches have all but gone away and I have seen dramatic improvement. Staff is super friendly and knowledgable, they have several options for payments and are always willing to reschedule me or fit me in when they can. 5 stars all the way

Dr. Berry and his staff are amazing! I've struggled with TMJ issues for the past couple of years, but last year (2020) I could barley open my mouth for weeks. I found Dr. Berry through an online search and I'm so glad I did. For my first appointment I had x-rays taken. Immediately afterwards Dr. Berry sat down with me to discuss my images and my talk me though what the treatment would look like.
He made sure I understood the issue and how the treatment would work. He also mentioned that I might need jaw surgery since my condition had gotten pretty bad, but that he'd try everything in his power to avoid it. My treatment included wearing a top splint every night and a bottom splint every day. While I wasn't a fan of eating with my bottom splint, they did seem to help.
I felt that I could open my mouth slightly wider. After about 6 months I did end up needing the surgery, but I continue to wear my top splint at night and my bottom splint whenever I feel necessary. These splints give me peace of mind knowing that I won't wake up one day with my jaw locked. Also the staff does a great job keeping the office covid free!

I went to Dr. Berry based on referrals of two people. According to their website their plan of care is much different than the plan of care you receive. I traveled 5.5 hours three different times desperately trying to get help with my health. Joan and the staff are amazing and kind but the service is NOT worth the thousands of dollars required for less than satisfactory care.
I asked for a full refund as the service did not work for me and they refused. They gave a minimal refund and I will be paying for quite some time on the balance for a service that was a joke to them. Not for me. He also diagnosed me with a compression fracture in my spine that was a blood vessel. This whole experience not only broke me financially but emotionally as well.
They said it was because I didnt come exactly every three weeks but they do nothing but a 10 minute follow up grinding on your already insufficient appliance. Do not put your trust in this facility. Or your money. And whatever you do if you advocate for yourself or demand care you will be treated worse. Not even worth a star but will not post without one

I am not big in writing reviews to be honest but in this case I had to because of how happy and grateful I am that I found them. This place is legit! Dr. Barry and his staff are truly kind, compassionate and caring. I have both TMJ and Sleep Apnea. By the time I went to see them I had excruciating headaches from my TMJ and I had stopped using my CPAP as I was intolerant and I was tired all the time.
The staff moved quickly to get me scheduled to have molds taken so that the TMJ appliance could be made first and I had my appliance the following week after my initial consultation. Within 1 day of getting and wearing my appliance, my headaches were completely gone! I was truly amazed. I had my sleep apnea appliance a couple of weeks after that and I have been sleeping so much better.
I actually wake up refreshed, which I haven't done for quite a long time. I now have more energy and walk 2.5 - 3 miles a day 4-6 days a week and do 45-60 minutes of yoga before bed most nights. There are no words to express how deep my gratitude and appreciation goes. These people are truly amazing and I recommend them whole heartedly.

I've been a patient of Dr. Berry's for a little over a year now and have been very pleased with my experience. Dr. Berry and his staff have been nothing but friendly and helpful, and they have helped with my TMJ immensely. I previously saw another provider for my TMJ and switched to Dr. Berry's office. He was the first provider to take my headaches and neck pain into consideration. I've had so much relief since I started wearing my bite guards.

Dr. Berry is actually amazing. Many years after working with Dr. Winber earlier in my life for some TMJ issues, I was involved in a car accident that resulted in similar jaw pain, popping, tension, and tension headaches. Finding that Winber had retired, I asked my dentist who I should see and was told that Berry is just as good. He's great! Full 360° radiographs to start, but worth it to see the extent of the damage to the joints. Adjustments to splints were easy, the staff great, his price justified and yet competitive. Feeling 98% of normal for years now! Thanks Dr. Berry and staff!!

I came to Dr Barry for clicking in my jaw that made yawning, even eating painful. He took great care and time explaining what my issue is and how he could help treat it. It's taken almost a year, but the clicking is gone and I'm very grateful. I do wish insurance covered TMJ associated issues, but that's not Dr Barry's fault. Very happy with my treatment AND how I was treated by Dr Barry and his entire staff.

Highly recommend Dr Barry for TMJ treatment. I had chronic TMJ issues that had been progressively getting worse over the last couple of years. I had tried multiple custom TMJ splints from my dentists and nothing helped. After researching that TMJ and Sleep Apnea (on a CPAP for that) had some correlation I decided to try something else. In working with Dr Barry, I selected a splint that would serve to treat my TMJ and sleep apnea. Not only have I had no further issues with TMJ in nearly 8 months, but my sleep study reflected no sleep apnea! Totally amazed and wish I had found him years ago!

Dr. Berry and his staff are terrific! - so friendly and caring, and they really make you feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. Dr. Berry was wonderful about explaining the treatment plan, as well as the anatomy and cause for symptoms. He is realistic and down-to-earth in his approach/treatments. My TMD symptoms have improved dramatically, and while Dr Berry never promised relief from my tinnitus, I got it - My ringing has greatly improved, along with facial tension and pain. Worth every penny.

I have been working with Dr. Kevin Berry for the past 6 months for my sleep apnea. After a sleep study, Dr.Berry reccomemded a mouth guard for my sleep apnea. From day one he and his staff have been absolutely amazing! Dr.Berry is very passionate about his work and really knows what he is doing. He is always available for questions and checks on you in between visits to ask if your mouth guard is comfortable and how you are sleeping.
I haven't slept this good in years! I now wake up rested and full of energy because I am actually getting restful sleep. I travel a 6 hour round trip to see Dr. Berry and will continue to see him for my sleep apnea.

I recently was referred to Dr. Berry by my regular dentist. I had been going to a different TMJ dentist near Boulder, but was really having a lot of trouble with my TMJ appliances/ mouth guards (and had to have a ton of physical therapy). I met Dr. Berry only four months ago. I was immediately impressed with his calm demeanor as well as his knowledge about TMJ.
He made me a new appliance, which amazingly felt good the first night I had it on. after only a month, a lot of my TMJ symptoms diminished. My physical therapist was also impressed with how well the appliance fit and how it seemed to calm down the muscles in my face in neck. He's made a few tweaks to the appliance since I first received it, and has spent a lot of time making sure it has been adjusted properly.
I haven't been to physical therapy really since I started seeing Dr. Berry just because I haven't been in pain. I only wish my dentist had referred me to Dr. Berry before. I would have saved myself a lot of money on physical therapy, as as money on appliances that didn't fit or just weren't appropriate for my condition. Dr. Berry is well worth the drive from the Boulder area.

I would have saved myself a lot of money on physical therapy, as as money on appliances that didn't fit or just weren't appropriate for my condition. Dr. Berry is well worth the drive from the Boulder area...

I have had horrible TMJ since I was 11, I have seen Orthodontists, dentists, physical therapist, acupuncturist, massage therapy etc without relief. Dr. Berry is amazing, with his treatment I no longer have the popping, pain or headaches. I can eat the foods I love without issue's. His staff is friendly and always a pleasure to see.

Desired results, pragmatic approach, highly recommended. My dentist built a night guard for me that induced TMD symtoms, so my dentist referred me to an orthodontist that wanted $10K over two years to attempt a far more invasive technique with no guaranteed results. As a welcome alternative, my long time trusted Chiropractor referred me to Dr. Berry. His bedside manner," combined with his pragmatic approach was welcome and appreciated, and I'm very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Dr. Berry.

Dr. Berry and his entire staff are amazing! Our 12 year old daughter was in severe pain and doctors kept telling us over and over she had deep inner ear infections. After antibiotics for the 4th time we were referred to Dr. Berry. From our first visit the entire office was so kind and caring with Abby. They take amazing care of her and always make her laugh.
Best of all she felt like a new person once her splint was in. All of her pain left and she felt better than she had in a long time. She has seen improvements in many areas because her jaw is now where it should be. I can’t thank you all enough for being so loving and kind to Abby. We just adore you all tremendously.
