A diagnosis of TMJ/TMD means you have a dysfunction in the jaw joint and jaw muscle areas. Your neuromuscular dentist will study the relationship between your teeth, jaw muscles, and your jaw movements, to understand the dysfunction and formulate a strategy for improvement. TMJ treatment may involve repositioning the jaw into its most comfortable posture and supporting it with an oral appliance. Once comfort is attained, more permanent support is attained through Orthodontics or restorative procedures.
Each individual has unique jaw joint dysfunction, and a combination of therapies may be recommended for permanent correction. The goal of TMJ treatment is to alleviate pain, soreness and other symptoms and to improve the function of the jaw joint.

Dental implants are a tooth replacement option that is designed to be as close to the look and function of your natural teeth as possible. Dental implants:
-Look natural
-Function like natural teeth–easily chew all types of food
-Support themselves–they don’t affect other teeth
-Support your gums and jawbone
-Require the same maintenance as natural teeth
-Can last a lifetime
Dental implants are the most like your natural teeth because they are structured like natural teeth, as you’ll see below. With natural bone and gums around them, and a cosmetic crown, they look just like your natural teeth. And they let you chew food just like natural teeth.
Dental implants don’t have to be removed to clean them. You just brush, floss, and see the dentist regularly. Take care of them properly, and they will likely last for decades–even a lifetime.

Minimal sedation dentistry is a great way to overcome dental fear. However, it also helps many people who might not think they have significant fear. This includes people who:
-Have a strong gag reflex
-Have trouble getting numb
-Can’t sit still
-Tense during dental appointments
-Have excess or lingering soreness following an appointment
-Want or need to have a lot of treatments performed at once
Many of these secondary effects, such as the gag reflex, difficulty getting numb, and being fidgety or tense during an appointment are linked to dental fear. Whether they are linked to fear for you or not, all these effects benefit from minimal sedation dentistry. In addition, it’s a lot easier to sit still for longer treatment with sedation.

There are many common symptoms of sleep apnea you should watch out for, such as:
-Waking up unrested
-Weight gain
-Fatigue or sleepiness during the day
-Dry mouth
-Sore throat
-Headaches in the morning
-Decreased sex drive
-Snoring
If you notice these symptoms, you should speak to your general doctor or a sleep doctor about your sleep apnea risk. It can only be diagnosed with a sleep test. For many people, this is a simple take-home device that you wear while sleeping. You may have to wear it several nights to collect enough data for a diagnosis, but you get to sleep in your own bed. We offer ApneaLink home testing for sleep apnea. It’s comfortable, convenient, and easy to use.
In other cases, diagnosis requires a sleep study in a sleep lab, where you are hooked up to a complex device that measures many aspects of your sleep and can tell whether your breathing is stopping during sleep.

If your snoring doesn’t require medical intervention, but is relatively mild, we can give you a plastic dental appliance to help with it. You would wear this device in your mouth at night, and it will prevent the jaw and tongue from falling back into the air passages. That will keep your airway more open so you can breathe personally and regularly all night.
Your device would be custom made to fit you and would require no dental work or surgery. Please contact us for a consultation if you would like more information.

Orthodontic treatment can do more than just improve the appearance of your smile. It can reshape your jaw and even your face. This can improve the proportions of your face for a more attractive appearance and improve the function of your orofacial system. Crowded dentition and a narrow jaw can impact your ability to clean your teeth and make it hard to chew. But it goes beyond that: it impacts your ability to swallow, and may impair your breathing. Your jaw is the hard structure that shapes and supports your airway, so if your jaw is too narrow and in a poor position, it can lead to breathing problems, including sleep apnea.
Functional orthodontics focuses on reshaping the jaw at the same time as it moves teeth to improve the function of your jaws and alleviate breathing problems. Functional orthodontics can be utilized at any time, although children can get the maximum benefit with the minimum intervention.

Technically, general dentistry is a term that describes any dentistry not performed by a specialist. However, when we refer to general dentistry, we mean procedures that aren’t cosmetic dentistry or neuromuscular dentistry. This usually means procedures focused on preserving or restoring the health and function of your teeth and gums.
Therefore, we usually divide general dentistry into preventive and restorative dentistry.

Among the advanced dentures options we offer are the amazing FOY ® Dentures. The Denture Fountain of Youth ® truly lives up to its name, but they’re also just dentures that fit and function wonderfully.
FOY ® Dentures can truly replace lost teeth. When your teeth get worn down and then lost, the support for the lower third of the face diminishes. The bone structure shrinks, but the skin and other tissues remains the same. This leads to the appearance that you have excess skin. The excess skin folds or hangs down, causing wrinkles, facial folds, jowls, and turkey neck.
Using neuromuscular dentistry tools and techniques, we measure the optimal dimensions for your lower face. Then we make FOY ® Dentures to restore these proportions. This means you won’t have any excess skin. You’ll see a reduction in signs of facial aging. The principal is similar to a nonsurgical facelift.
But FOY ® Dentures also improve on traditional dentures in other ways. They have a very secure fit, so they don’t just fall out of your mouth, even without dental implants. You can eat a wider variety of foods, and with dental implants your FOY ® Dentures will function just like natural teeth. They’ll also look just like natural teeth. We use the latest cosmetic dentistry techniques to ensure a beautiful smile. In fact, with FOY ® Dentures, you may have the best smile of your life.
There are truly no dentures like FOY ® Dentures, and love to make them because they are the only way we can give our denture patients the quality of care they deserve.

In the past, people had to wait months before they could get their dental implants completed. But with new procedures and technology, we’re able to help people get teeth in one day. You can get teeth in the same day as you get your implants, which means you can immediately:
Enjoy a beautiful smile
Get rid of uncomfortable dentures
Enjoy secure teeth and improved bite
Preserve jawbone strength
You don’t have to wait for months before you get to enjoy the benefits of dental implants. You can get your teeth on the same day you get your dental implants, maybe even the same day you had your teeth extracted.
We offer two different technologies for achieving same day dental implants: All-on-4 and TeethXpress. This allows us to deliver the benefits to more people because they use different approaches.

The natural solution to the problems of snoring and sleep apnea is just to expand the airway. And that’s what the DNA Appliance does. The DNA Appliance stimulates the body’s natural growth mechanisms to expand the airway.
The DNA Appliance stimulates your genes by applying constant force to the teeth. This is similar to the mechanism used by braces and other orthodontics, but there are two differences. First, the DNA Appliance applies force not just to move your teeth, but also to expand your jaw. Second, it doesn’t rely on bracket bonded to your teeth that you have on all day. You just wear the DNA Appliance in the evening and overnight.

Invisalign is one of the newer options in orthodontics, and is often called “clear braces. ” The increasing popularity of Invisalign is due to its numerous advantages, including:
No restrictions on diet
No special cleaning techniques
Almost invisible clear plastic aligners
No wires or brackets to catch cheeks and tongue
Completely removable
In addition to the problem of visible wires and brackets, many people dislike the thought that braces will keep them from eating many of their favorite foods. Take a look at the diet restrictions for braces and decide if you will be able to give up those foods for a year or more.
Cleaning braces can also be difficult. It’s time consuming and hard to get right. As a result, some people experience problems with gum disease and white lesions that can be unhealthy or lead to unattractive tooth appearance. With Invisalign, you have to brush your teeth more often, but you don’t have to work around brackets and wires.

What Is Functional Orthodontics?
Functional orthodontics is an approach to orthodontic treatment that is focused on the function of the jaw as much a on the appearance. It is informed by the ideas of neuromuscular dentistry, which stresses the complex and dynamic interrelationship between the many components of the bite system, including the muscles, bones, teeth, nerves, airway, and more. So functional orthodontics looks at potential problems arising from imbalances in these relationships and helps restore proper functional relationships.
Because the teeth and jaw develop functionally together over a long period of time, functional orthodontics strives to emulate this pattern by intervening at an early age. Intervening as young as age 4 allows us to use low-force techniques to help the teeth and jaw develop into a healthy relationship. And because we’re emulating the natural developmental pathway, it establishes the groundwork for results that are more stable in the long run.

Porcelain crowns fit over the tooth to preserve its integrity and lengthen its life. The procedure
-Your cosmetic dentist first removes any decay or damaged areas of the tooth.
-He then makes a mold of the remaining tooth structure from which the crown will be created.
-The porcelain crown is fitted over your remaining tooth, and adjusted until both you and your dentist are satisfied with it.
-It’s then permanently bonded to your tooth, giving it a complete new surface.

CEREC is a technology that has grown in popularity in recent years because it offers many benefits. People like CEREC because:
Only one visit to get ceramic restorations like crowns and fillings
Less time at the dentist
Highly attractive restorations
Durable restorations
No need for gooey impressions
Replacements are easy
The best benefit is the ability to get your ceramic restorations without a second visit to the dentist, which saves you time and convenience.
But what really makes CEREC popular is that the restorations are highly attractive. The color match can be superb, and the luster of the restorations is indistinguishable from natural teeth except to the very trained eye.
And the restorations are durable. In clinical studies, these dental crowns lasted as long as lab-produced restorations, and the fillings last longer than any restoration, including gold fillings.
Digital impressions mean you don’t have to bite down into impression material, and the impressions are highly accurate. And they have another benefit: if your crowns are damaged or lost, we can manufacture a replacement without taking a new impression.

Your dentist will first slightly roughen the tooth surface. Then he’ll apply the bonding, shape it, and cure (harden) it with a special light. After the newly reshaped tooth is finished and polished, it’s ready to make its smile debut!

In many cases, wisdom teeth disrupt the bite during development. Sometimes the jaw is not large enough to allow them to come in properly, and they become impacted – poor spacing is often a cause of oral surgery. In other instances, one or more of the four wisdom teeth push against neighboring teeth and start moving them out of alignment.
Symptoms of impacted wisdom teeth can include mouth pain, gum swelling, gum tissue infection, and cysts. It is important to have your wisdom teeth examined if you experience any of these symptoms, as ignoring wisdom tooth disruption can result in permanent damage.
Like wisdom teeth, other back teeth like cuspids and bicuspids can also become impacted and negatively affect your entire dental health.
Through surgical removal of impacted or unimpacted wisdom teeth, many problems can be avoided. Cosmetic dentistry can be applied to repair any spacing or tooth damage problems.
Wisdom teeth usually emerge from the gum (erupt) between the ages of 17 and 24, although each individual case will vary. While some patients will never develop wisdom teeth, others may see all four develop. If you haven’t had your wisdom teeth evaluated yet, please schedule a personal consultation.

PST does not require any cutting of gum tissue and eliminates the need for sutures following your procedure. What’s more, this technique reduces the risks of bleeding, swelling, and postoperative discomfort that often follow more invasive treatments such as tissue grafting and other surgical procedures.
PST is a wonderful solution for many of our patients, but it may not be right for all needs. The best way to determine if this noninvasive gum recession treatment is ideal for you is through a one-on-one consultation at our comfortable Rochester office.
To schedule your initial consultation with our certified Rochester PST dentist, please e-mail or call us at (248) 656-2020. We welcome patients living throughout Oakland County, Macomb County, and surrounding areas of Michigan.

Our teeth and jaws play a major role in the development of our facial appearance. Basically, your jaw grows to accommodate your teeth, and together your teeth and jaw provide the structure for the lower third of your face.
As we age, many components of our face change. Our body can lose or gain fat in the face. The skin loses elasticity, so it begins to sag and fold. Some of the supportive tissue can also lose its elasticity, creating deeper facial sagging.
But what is not generally accounted for are changes that occur in your teeth and jawbone with age. When they first develop, our teeth are large and tall, with sturdy jawbone to support them. But as we age, our teeth become worn down. They can chip, crack, and break. Some may even be lost.
As a result of this, our teeth and jaw lose volume, which causes the lower third of our face to have too little support for the skin and other soft tissues. This leads to visible changes such as:
-Deep folds and wrinkles appear around the mouth
-Lips can begin to appear thin and compressed–they might even fold inward
-Jowls can appear or worsen as the jowls sink down and the jaw moves up
-The neck can seem to have excess skin
-Crease can develop between the chin and lower lip
-Protruding jaw and altered profile
The combination leads to a prematurely aged appearance. The effects are dramatically worsened for people who have lost teeth. The body will remove the bone that used to support the teeth. As this bone is removed, the upper jaw moves up and back and the lower jaw collapses down and forward. The result is a dramatic transformation of the profile.

Inlays treat teeth with decay or damage on the top surface of the tooth, or to replace damaged or old fillings created from silver amalgam, considered a potential health risk.
Generally speaking, your inlay placement requires two dental visits. Once you receive your permanent inlay, however, you can carry on with your normal activities, despite some mild and brief tenderness.
Onlays treat decay that extends to one or more teeth, in a process very similar to that used for inlays. Your permanent onlay is placed on your tooth and bonded securely with high strength resin.
The Benefits of Inlays and Onlays
Both inlays and onlays can be crafted from natural looking tooth-colored material for a more natural smile. Because the process does not require extensive removal of the tooth’s structure, more of your natural tooth can be conserved, helping you to avoid further reconstructive work in the future with crowns, implants or bridges. The high strength resin plays an important part as well, since bonding the material to your natural tooth adds strength and prevents bacteria from forming cavities on the tooth. When these benefits are combined, it means much less dental work in your future, which is a benefit we all can appreciate.

We have all heard of dentures – they’re those removable teeth replacements, or “false teeth” designed to improve smiles without sacrificing eating, speaking and chewing abilities. In the past, they have carried a negative stigma, mainly because they were bulky, difficult to get used to, and were often too obvious. At Rochester Advanced Dentistry in Rochester, MI, we do dentures in an up-to-date fashion and put to rest the notion that they are only for aging people.
Our dentures are custom crafted to fit as seamlessly as possible into your mouth for a very natural enamel replacement. Choose from a complete set, which replace all teeth, or a partial set, which replace a portion of natural teeth. With today’s materials, design technology, craftsmanship and placement techniques, dentures can look, feel and function very similar to regular teeth. Though there will be some suggestions on foods to avoid, you’ll be amazed at the difference!
Though you can expect a period of adjustment, our reconstructive dentistry team will work with you on an ongoing basis to ensure you are completely happy with your new smile. Your dentist will also go over careful cleaning instructions with you to extend the life and impact of your smile enhancement.

The Appearance of Your Smile Matters
You might think that the appearance of your smile is a frivolous luxury, but it’s not. Your teeth have several vital functions, such as eating, talking, and, yes, smiling. Looking attractive is one of the vital functions of your teeth, and if they’re not doing that, it’s not frivolous to look to it just as you might look to the health of your teeth.
Your smile is the first thing people notice about you, and the last thing they forget. An attractive smile is associated with health, youth, wealth, even intelligence and compassion. Before you even speak, your teeth say a hundred things about you, so it’s important to make sure it’s nothing bad.

Rochester Advanced Dentistry in Rochester, MI recommends tooth colored fillings or porcelain onlays for treatment of new cavities or to replace old metal fillings. Porcelain fillings are also known as inlays and onlays.
Porcelain onlays are more durable than composite white fillings, and look more like tooth enamel, but it takes longer to do a porcelain filling.
Deb

Compared to metal amalgam fillings, porcelain is far more attractive and natural-looking. It also strengthens the tooth, as it is bonded to the tooth and holds it together strongly. On the other hand, metal fillings are not bonded; they’re packed into the cavity very tightly, so as not to fall out. And being metal, they expand and contract with each hot or cold item we put in our mouths. This exerts repeated pressure outwards on the tooth, causing eventual fractures.
An expertly-placed porcelain filling can fill areas that were decayed and seal the connection between tooth and filling. This preserves your beautiful, seamless smile.

Many people give up on teeth whitening because they tried it and it didn’t work. But the truth is that not all teeth whiteners are the same. Whether you’ve tried whitening on your own or if you’ve done a different in-office procedure at your dentist’s office, you’ll be delighted at the difference with KöR Whitening.
Here’s what makes it different from other whiteners:
The only system recognized to whiten tetracycline stained teeth
Unique quality control leads to predictable whitening results
Choose your whitening method:while you sleep, or during the day!
Maintain results for a lifetime without giving up coffee, tea, or red wine
Typically little to no sensitivity
Whiten teeth at any age
Teeth stained by tetracycline antibiotics were thought impossible to whiten. The staining is deep inside the tooth and didn’t respond to earlier whitening systems. But KöR Whitening can dramatically whiten tetracycline stained teeth.

In approximately 90% of the population, the lower jaw is not in its optimal, most comfortable position; this causes pain and muscle tension in the jaw and the area that surrounds the jaw. An orthopedic jaw appliance has been designed based on the science of neuromuscular dentistry and is called the Pure Power Mouthguard™. Athletes, especially, are benefitting from the PPM™ because by holding the jaw in its optimal position, the PPM™ results in improved vertebrae alignment, better balance, and increased upper body strength. This appliance is custom designed and fitted for each athlete based on their own individual muscle physiology. Both professionals and amateurs, or anyone that is serious about their sports performance can benefit from the strength and endurance improvement that the appliance provides.

Doolin-Haddad Advanced Dentistry has it all.a friendly, efficient front desk, dedicated, consistent, very professional hygienists who provide advice and use advanced equipment to help optimize healthy teeth and gums. Most importantly, I am very pleased to have discovered dentists and staff who continually train in the latest technology and advances in dentistry while exhibiting a high standard of excellence in performance, and a superior level of expertise in advanced dentistry, all combined with personal care and acknowledgment. I rest easy knowing these professionals will work closely with me to help maximize the health of my teeth and gums well into the future.

The entire staff is amazing. You are treated like family from the minute you walk in the door. The doctors and hygienists have been great with my kids since they were toddlers. From cleanings to cosmetic dentistry to implants, I cannot recommend Rochester Advanced Dentistry enough! It's always a pleasant experience.

I've been a patient at Rochester Advanced Dentistry for over 10 years because of the friendly and personable staff and thoroughness of services. I most recently got veneers after and wish I would've done it years ago. They look better than I expected and have gotten several compliments on my smile since getting them.

I am so very grateful to Dr. Nina and Shelly to have come to my rescue on their day off, right before the holidays, to repair a poorly executed dental bonding on my front teeth done by a dentist I went to near my new home. Had I not been a previous patient at Rochester Advanced Dentistry, I don't know where I would have turned to have this procedure corrected. Dr. Nina and Shelly showed so much compassion and understanding to my situation and didn't hesitate to be that professional team to correct the wrong that was done to my teeth.
I trusted them and they didn't disappoint with their knowledge, expertise and yes, their sense of humor to calm my nerves. So, thank you Dr. Nina and Shelly, you not only brought my smile back but you also made my holiday happier!

Rochester Advanced Dentistry is actually a 10 star in my eyes. This is the best dentist office I have ever been to and I have been to many. They are top notch all the way. I knew the second I talked to Christina for my evaluation that this is where I wanted to be for all my future dental care. I wish I found them 20 years ago. This staff is absolutely the best.
The entire staff from the front desk, Christina, the hygienist Rachel, and Dr. Haddad are absolutely amazing and most caring group of people I have ever met. They truly changed my smile for the absolute best. I can't thank them enough for all they have done for me.

Friendly and welcoming staff the moment you walk through the front door. Christina is a gem, walking you through the process, giving you all the time you to need to make a decision, understanding everything along the way. Dr. Hadaad has done amazing work in my daughters mouth. Dr. Doolin has a plan in place for my son, & I just had my fist work up, very impressed by the advanced knowledge! Looking forward to this being my home dentist.

I have to say everything about my experience at Rochester Advanced Dentistry has been outstanding. I had my braces put on today and it really was a great experience. I can not say enough about Rachel. She is kind, compassionate and can empathize with what i'm going through as she has also had some of the same procedures and braces. Dr. Haddad is great; when i have an appointment it's like seeing family. The front desk staff is amazing and easy to work with.

I cannot say enough great things about Rochester Advanced Dentistry! From my initial consultation with Cristina all the way through to the completion of my dental work with Dr. Doolin and Danielle everyone was friendly and professional and all that was promised for my end results was delivered. Overall, I'm an extremely happy patient!

As a result of orthodontic work as a child I have suffered for years with jaw pain, headaches and decreased mobility in my neck and upper back. In what seems like an almost “too good to be true story” within 2 weeks of Dr. Haddad repositioning my jaw, my neck mobility increased dramatically. Over the next few months my headaches significantly decreased and I have returned to my fitness routine which includes biking, Pilates and weight training. I am so grateful for the unique expertise of Doolin & Haddad and the personal commitment to my care from their entire team.

Just completed replacement of an old cap that fell off after 15+ years and now have a new crown that looks / feels / functions just like the original molar of 30-some years ago! Dr. Tironi has mastered not only the technology their Rochester office has in place to design and build crowns, but I really like his confident / focused approach to the task - a true professional in the field of dentistry.
I can chalk this up to yet another great experience with a procedure that probably doesn't go nearly as well at other dental practices. It's so nice to have work done right the first time; especially when done in such a critical area. Kudos to Dr. Tironi, assistant Shelly, and all the staff at Rochester Advanced Dentistry that make the entire experience a good one!

I have been going to Rochester Advanced Dentistry for over 5 years and they always do an amazing job. I normally see Dr. Haddad and his assistant Rachel - who are both amazing. This month I needed to get some work done on my teeth. Due to my tight schedule, I wasn’t able to see Dr. Haddad, so I scheduled my work with Dr. Torino. My appointment was this morning and I once again had a GREAT experience!
Both Dr. Torino and his assistant Shelley did an amazing job and made sure I was 100% comfortable and pain free the entire time. Dr. Torino was very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job on my teeth.

I have been going to the dentist every 6 months for 50 years. A cap here and a root canal there over the years left me with different shapes and colors if many teeth. Not one dentist ever mentioned that veneers were possible and would solve this unsightly problem. Dr Haddad has now given me veneers. How nice at 65 to finally have matching teeth. So wish I had done this 40 years ago!! Everyone in office is so friendly and kind.

Dr. Doolin and Danielle performed a replacement and installation of new teeth along my top row of teeth. They explained everything up front and were completely professional and compassionate through the entire process. They also shaped up my lower teeth and spent significant time ensuring the correctness of my bite. A great job, thanks Dr. Doolin and Danielle!

This was a very rewarding experience. From the first phone call (I found the number through a Google search) the staff was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Upon my first visit, the staff in the Reception area was quick to acknowledge me and the wait was insignificant. Dr. Doolin and his assistant took the time needed to find out my goals, took pictures of my mouth and smile to display and better show me areas where improvement could be made and gave me options for doing so.
Each subsequent visit was just as professional and personable. And I received a quality product. I would highly recommend this office for their knowledge, skill and customer care.

I visited Rochester Advanced Dentistry after suffering for half a year with severe jaw pain, lock jaw, 24/7 headaches, and constant ear congestion and popping. After a few tests and a consultation proved I had TMJ disorder, and that it was likely causing most of these terrible symptoms, I decided to invest in the non-invasive treatment to correct my jaw position.
Within the first month, my headaches were significantly reduced and I could open my mouth to eat again! It has been a year now. I no longer require ibuprofen and muscle relaxers (the only other treatment I was offered before finding Rochester Advanced Dentistry). If you are suffering with TMJ disorder, I highly recommend making the investment. Dr. Haddad and Rachel are wonderful and really care about your health and well being.

I was treated for frequent earaches and jaw pain by Dr Haddad. I had previously consulted medical doctors and other dentists for this pain without success. After a consultation I agreed to try an appliance and tens treatments. Of note, a previously made dental appliance did not work. My pain has virtually been eliminated. I highly recommend this approach to TMJ management. I highly recommend this dental practice. The entire staff is wonderful.
