Periodontists spend 3 years in a residency program after dental school. This post-graduate education includes intravenous sedation training for patient's comfort, working in hospital operating room settings. During my dental school education in Chapel Hill, I soon realized that the health care professions were going to be my goal. Periodontic specialization has been the most effective way for me to make a difference in my patients' quality of life. I went in to have a gum graft. Heard horror stories about the pain. I did it just with numbing medicines. Dr. Wallace and his assistant talked me through the procedure. Very little discomfort in the process. It was done very professional. At home and only took a few Aleves. Slept like a baby and have zero pain. I am amazed. He's does great work.
