Most people try to scrub their teeth clean with their toothbrush in a back and forth motion, but doing that creates gum recession and enamel ruin. Instead use a soft brittle toothbrush, hold it softly at a 45 degree angle, brushing in a circular motion with down strokes on the top teeth and
up strokes on the lower teeth.
up strokes on the lower teeth.
Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you.

I am a new patient who found Caring Dentists via the Arlington "top dentist nomination list" but am not sure this entirely accurate, based on my 2 visits. Visit 1: is a simple cleaning, and despite telling the hygienist that I was uncomfortable and she was hurting me; she do not adapt in any way. Instead, she stated that it was "the electric tool." I've never heard this before.
If the electric tool is bothersome, previous hygienists (at other practices) have moved to manual cleaning for me. This may be more time consuming (for them) but they were prioritizing patient comfort. Not so unfortunately here. As I'm as checking out with a very nice man who was helping me book my next cleaning, I shared that my "existing" insurance was expanding in the new year and providing an extra cleaning. Unprompted, one of his colleagues nearby, said well "we can't book an appt now then." First not sure why she piped in at all, and second I did not understand her logic.
I provided my insurance when I checked in and had indicated I didn't mind paying out of pocket in event the extra cleaning wasn't covered, not to mention this was the first appt of the new year so "why could I NOT book an appt"? I pointed this out and it was clear she was not happy with my logic, and gave me a series of dirty looks. I proceeded to book my appt.
Visit 2: I arrive 10 mins early for my appt to get new retainers. 30 mins go by and finally, I get called to the back and am told the dentist is running behind, but will be by soon. I'm thinking a prior appt ran late - but then I am told the dentist is coming from her apt?!? So it doesn't seem like it's due to a patient. When she finally shows up (40 mins late), no apology is provided :( She then shares the plan for my retainer swap (ie she will remove my permanent retainer, fit me for new one and then I wait for two weeks for this new retainer to arrive.) I indicate my concern - having talked to my previous dentists about teeth shifting after just a few days without retainers.
It's clear she's not happy that I'm questioning her opinion, but at least she honors my request. Still, I felt completely unwelcome for expressing (and pushing) for my wishes. As I'm checking out, I hear a woman ask "I've been waiting ten mins is the dentist ready for me?" The dentist shows up and seems perplexed the woman is asking why she's late?
I don't get this. I'm some what stuck right now - having paid for my retainers and being worried about sharing an unflattering review, but I firmly believe in the importance of sharing experiences for visibility. I'm not sure this is "the" place for me (and luckily there's a lot of dentists to pick from!) but hopeful my experience is helpful for anyone new also considering this practice - and how sometimes "best of nominations" may not always be accurate.

Doctor Gentry-Coutin has been an excellent provider for me over the last several months. She is very thorough about dental care and has worked with me to establish a care plan for my dental health. Doctor Gentry-Coutin is very thorough with her explanation of recommended treatments and is very clear with follow-up instructions and recommendations. Appointments are easy to fit into a busy schedule, and the staff is amiable and professional.

I've had Dr Gentry for the last 5 years. He was my dentist of choice when I lived 10 minutes away and he's still my dentist of choice after moving and being an hour away from his office. He is an extremely genuine doctor. My recent visit, he filled a small cavity flawlessly and he also confirmed that my retainer of 9 years is still good to use; Another dentist may have tried to push harder for an expensive replacement retainer when it might not be needed. Thanks Doc! Michael Graf

Very beautiful office always smells so nice staff and the receptionist who has been there for years is so nice and will answer any questions about insurances, pricing, and booking appointments. The office make sure to let you know in advance if they will be closing due to weather conditions which is really helpful. And the hygienist and dr. Gentry makes sure to answer any concerns and takes there time with you. Overall lovely office and staff

Dr. Gentry has been my dentist for over 10 years. Highly recommend, I really like him, and the office. I am always in town for a few days and the office makes room for me in a pinch. Great listeners about when I want to do a procedure or to wait until it becomes an issue - I have some cracked crown and they aren't pushing me to address, but ready when I am. :

These dentists are the best! I am 22 years old and have been going here since I was 5 years old with 3 of my other siblings who are now 25,26, and 20. We all still continue to come here. They never disappoint! There service is amazing and they are the most kindest and humble human beings. The name "caring dentists" does not do them justice. I've never had a cavity in my life and I can say it's thanks to Dr.'s Gentry and Coutin. Thank you for your work!

I have been seeing Dr. Gentry at his practice for almost 10 years now, by way of referral from a friend. They have the friendliest staff ever and the dentists are both AMAZING! They are extremely gentle and patient with my 11 year old son, who's been going there since he was three. Friendly and caring! This has been the best dentist I've ever had and I will continue to go here as long as I'm living in the DMV!

I've always been able to find a convenient time for my appointments. I recently had a crown fitted and it was, because of the condition of what remained of my tooth, a tricky thing. It went like clockwork and the crown fits amazingly well and, as a bonus, tinted just right to blend in with my other teeth. The porcelain feels good. It was top-quality dentistry which is of a piece with all his work on my teeth. I find the office staff cheerful and completely professional at all times. I've been going to Dr Coutin for about 7 years.

Dr. Philip Gentry is an amazing dentist. He has been my dentist my entire life and has taken the best care possible of me and my family. His fillings are awesome, can't even tell. Dr. Gentry extracted one of my upper wisdom teeth that was hurting me and I went back to work right after. He is not only an extremely talented dentist, but also caring and a wonderful person.
