Services
Before practicing orthodontics, I earned a BS in biology and a BS in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina and my master's degree and orthodontic certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where my research was on the management of crowding and eruption of teeth in the mixed-dentition.

Altherr Orthodontics is rated number 1 for our family! All 3 of my children went there for braces and it was the best experience ever. I also went there as an adult in my late fifties for clear aligners and it was the best experience ever it's ever! They staff as well as Doctor Altherr is very professional and never lost their patience with me! They were very kind, very understanding and very supportive during the whole process. Dr. Altherr and his team have been incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating through my entire journey with braces and retainers. It is evident that Dr. Alter truly cares for his patients in that he takes the time to figure out the best option and route to take when a issue arises. I have always believed scheduling appointments to be difficult with a busy schedule however the staff are very understanding and make the whole process painless.
I have had many family/friends that have gotten braces and/or Invisalign with Dr. Altherr and have said nothing but good things. I highly recommend if you are ever in need of orthodontic care!

We LOVE Altherr Ortho and are so thankful we chose them for our son's orthodontic services. The plan they developed was perfectly executed and right on time. We had a change in insurance during the process and the administrative team was amazing to work with and truly quite helpful during that process. I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Altherr. I did not wear my retainer after getting my braces off when I was a teenager. Luckily my insurance covered my adult braces so I decided to give Invisalign a try. I had a very pleasant experience coming into the office from beginning to end. All done with my treatment and now my teeth are straight thanks to Dr. Altherr! My kids needed braces and would not hesitate to recommend Dr Altherr. Now we have the whole family coming to see him. I wish Dr Altherr and his staff the best!

I have been taking my son to Altherr Orthodontics for over two years on the braces and retainer journey that many of us take with our children. I was very impressed with how patient they were with both my son. The Doctor and office staff also did a wonderful job de-mystifying the experience. Relationships are key to long term successes, and I highly recommend this practice.
