I have been a patient of Dr. Amy's for many years and mostly I see her hygienist, Megan. Last time I was in, I explained to Amy that my teeth were hurting when I would bite down. Amy took a look and told me that I had not only a cracked tooth, but also a bad filling. We agreed the teeth should be repaired sooner than later.so, today was the day!

I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have had seeing a dentist. Her assistant was very nice and accommodating, which made me feel relaxed! When Dr. Amy came in she did an amazing job at getting my teeth numb, I felt nothing. and trust me, I have had other dentists that were not very good at getting me numb and it was not pleasant. The whole process was awesome and Dr. Amy was a total pro, through and through!

She recommended a porcelain onlay which is stronger and lasts longer than a composite filling. When she finished, she showed me what she had done and I was very pleased. I could hardly tell she had worked on my teeth, it looked that good! If you are in the area and looking for a quality dentist, she's the one for you! I am a patient for life! Amy and Ashvin are the best in the Bay Area. My family and I have been using them for decades. Their practice is state of the art and just simple amazing experience every time I visit. The results and advise has made me cavity free, that's right, my family and I have never had any cavities in my whole entire life. Thanks for keeping my teeth and gums in excellent shape. Dr Amy has been our dentist close to 15 years and I just realized that I have never given her the credit she deserves, since Yelp was not even around when my husband and I started come to her clinic. Not only does Dr Amy do extraordinary good dental work, she has even seen me on a Christmas Day, and she has seen my visiting nervous brother on short notice.

She is also connected with very good specialists if needed. Ashwin who is my dental hygienist is the best one you can have and the staff, professional and friendly Marie and Amanda among others, contribute to an overall very pleasant visit (said by someone who always have been if not fearful so at least concerned before visiting any type of doctor).

I literally picked Dr Amy out of a book, nearly at random, in 1990. That was like winning the jackpot! If I ever moved away I'd be another one of her out-of-state patients, no way would I look for a new dentist.

I've been seeing Dr Amy and dental hygienist Ashvin for over 20 years. They have kept my teeth and gums healthy. They both love what they do and take pride in their work. I didn't enjoy going to the dentist before I met them but I do now. Ashvin and Dr Amy have helped me figure out over the years how to keep my teeth clean and healthy between visits.

I of course brushed my teeth but they helped me to brush and floss correctly. My previous dentist told me to floss, but Dr Amy and Ashvin actually asked me what my issues were with flossing and helped me overcome them. They keep careful notes and also notice changes in my mouth and make recommendations based on my particular situation. That personal touch and care has made the biggest difference to my oral health. Dr Amy keeps up with technology that improves the patient's experience.

I had three old metal mercury fillings that I got as a teen (pre Dr Amy) that eventually cracked and broke. Dr Amy now has a laser so it is pain free to replace them with ceramic fillings. She also has a super high tech x-ray that does a 360 view of your whole mouth in one go so you get a lot more information with a lot less radiation.

I have been going to Dr. Amy for more than 20 years. That is evidence of how much of a satisfied client I am. She has always given me excellent professional care. Her office has state of the art equipment, and I have complete trust in her advice and care.

We hands down like this dentist! We've been seeing Dr. Amy since about 2009. She's sensible about recommending procedures and has never pushed us towards anything expensive that we regretted (though we've agreed to some expensive procedures that we've been thankful for). She likes new technology and has some really amazing equipment, but is sensible about evaluating it and can speak coherently about which features and matter and why -- she's not just buying because the ad was pretty.

My husband and I are both about 40 and no previous dentist had educated us equally well about practical things we could do to make such a big difference to our oral health. Her hygienists' advice has also made a tremendous difference in our gum health. Now that we have kids, we take them to Dr. Amy for their check-ups, and she's great with kids. Our kids are enthusiastic about seeing Dr. Amy. The appointments have always been very on time.

Besides having a wonderful staff, this dental practice stays very current with innovation in dental care & hygiene. They now have the latest in X-ray equipment. It provides smaller dosage of radiation, better coverage, & is more comfortable for the patient. I would recommend this office to anyone who wants to keep their teeth.

I've been seeing Dr. Amy for over 15 years and I wish I'd found her office and her fantastic hygienist Ashvin years before! They've taught me how to take the best care of my teeth and gums, and it is always a pleasure to see them. How many people can say that about their dentist? I also really appreciate that Dr. Amy doesn't push having work done that is not absolutely necessary.

As a matter of fact, for cosmetic things, I have to tell her I would like it done. Also, they use the latest technologies, and Dr. Amy is well versed in aspects of medicine as they relate to dentistry (e.g., sleep apnea and bruxism/tooth grinding).

Dr. Amy is beyond great! As she began working on my cavity with her laser this morning she reassured that I would not any numbing and.she was right! There was no pain and there was no drooling out the corner of my mouth from numbness after she was done. : Megan and Marie are great as well! I strongly recommend.

Dr Amy is a fabulous dentist. She is sincere, compassionate with children and extremely knowledgable. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I've been going to Dr. Amy (as we some times call her) for almost 20 years now. When I got to her, my teeth were horrible, for many reasons. Her staff worked with me to understand how I could have personal top care, fixed a poorly done crown from a past root canal, and painlessly extracted my wisdom teeth. There are many things in life that I have to worry about, my teeth are not one of them because of Dr. Guthrie. If they have room to see you, I would highly recommend her.

My responses to the message/response sent by the business on 4/24/15: Dr. Guthrie: "I wish that s.f. had included in her report the amount that her family actually paid." My response: We paid the amount that was quoted to us, and agreed to, over the phone, which was about 50% of what Dr. Guthrie attempted to charge us. I simply refused to pay double the amount that we were quoted, when we were consciencous enough to make sure we knew what the cost would be upfront.

So yes, I walked out of the office having paid only the amount we had agreed to, but not without having to argue vehemently about it in front of my small children. I believe in showing my kids that sometimes you have to stand up for yourself in order to not be treated badly., or taken advantage of. However, it's not an experience I wish to repeat again, hence the main reason we won't return. Dr. Guthrie: "When I have completed examining a child I discuss my findings with the parent.

If they happen to be in the reception area and no one unrelated is present, we sometimes talk there. But if other people are present, we go into a treatment room for privacy (all of our treatment areas have full walls and doors, not open bays as are very popular in dental offices these days). So I am very confused by the "lady standing next to me" comments from s.f." My response: There was a woman sitting in the chair next to me when Dr. Guthrie presented her findings regarding my child's teeth.

She was a friendly and funny woman, somewhat older than myself, and she did make these comments (and more) to me after Dr. Guthrie left. I'm fairly certain she wasn't a figment of my imagination.; ) Additionally: I still have not found a new Dentist. My kids' pediatrician just recently lamented with my about she has had similar experiences with dentists, and "broke up" with said dentists because of this type of experience. Based on this, I feel this must be very common, and I would encourage people to refuse to tolerate it.

I completely understand that we all need to earn a living, but the basis of a meaningful life is ethical, kind, and honest behavior. I did NOT experience ethical, kind, and honest treatment from Dr. Guthrie, nor did I receive any kind of apology for her attempting to charge me double the amount quoted on the phone. My children were upset that day because Mama had an argument. It's fine. They saw me stand up for what's right, instead of bending over. And I'd do it again : )

Our family loves Amy Guthrie and her practice, have been seeing her and her excellent hygienists for years. HIghest possible praise for Dr. Amy.

By far the best dentist I have ever had! I searched a long time, and went through a lot of dentists, to find a good fit, and I have been nothing but happy with Dr. Amy and everyone in her office, particularly Ashvin, my hygienist. They are incredibly supportive and non-judgmental, which really helps if you have a fear of dentists. They are great for parents AND kids. And the FAQ page on the website is really cute. Great dentist/hygienists! They really care about the health of my teeth/gums as they have recommended changes to my toothbrush/toothpaste that really made a difference. And there's this really cute picture posted on the ceiling that I keep starring at when I'm in the chair. It's a kids drawing of a mouth, with all kinds of gross things like. spinach and corn stuck in the teeth. well I won't spoil it.

The only catch is that they are not on any network so make you pay during your visits for the full amount and then work with your insurance to send you a refund check. It's worked out for me since there isn't actually extra work on my part.

5 stars although we haven't actually seen Dr. Guthrie but I had to write a positive review of my experience when I called her office to make an appt. I will update appropriately after the appt as well. I've never experienced such a courteous front desk staff who asked appropriate questions and advised about how they deal with insurance.that they aren't a "preferred provider" by Metlife, but would submit the bill to the insurance and bill us accordingly.

She also gave me the price for a limited exam which is what the appt was for and x-rays, if we didn't bring our recent ones with us. She encouraged us to bring xrays from our old dentist to save money and was nice enuf to offer to call the old dentist and request that they be transferred. If Dr. Guthrie is anywhere near as good as her front desk staff, we are sold and are bringing our entire family to her!

This is huge praise coming from me, who was once a patient of Dr. Michael Hoffman who is unfortunately retired and had set the bar very high. I've been looking for the last 4 years for some half as good, professional and sincerely dedicated to the wellbeing of his patients as Dr. Hoffman. I'm hoping Dr. Guthrie doesn't disappoint. This place is awesome! Thank you Yelpers! I first went to this office 6 months ago and met with Megan, the hygienist, and Dr. Guthrie. This is the first time any body has spent the time to interview me about my dental health and ask what I wanted out of my dental care! They cleaned my teeth super clean with some vibrating water gizmo and then did the standard scrape, polish, and floss.

They told me to change my toothpaste to stave off canker sores and other great tips to promote habitual flossing. Lo and behold, 6 months later, the canker sores are gone (woo hoo!) and my teeth and gums are in great shape. When I returned for another cleaning, Megan remembered all my issues from my initial visit and was happy to hear that I was following all her tips with great results. Since my teeth are so white and clean now, I flash my pearly whites all the time!
