Services
Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Heeter recommend dental cleanings every 6 months with a complete oral examination every 12 months. This may vary depending on your child's needs and can be discussed further with the dentist. Each child's need for dental x-rays is different. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Heeter are very conservative with radiographs and will discuss their specific recommendation for your child at their dental visit. A sealant is a protective coating that can be applied to the biting surface of permanent molars to prevent decay from starting.
Dr. Ortiz has called the Rogue Valley home since 2000. She is a native Texan who, after living abroad, followed her dream to settle in the Pacific NW. She completed her dental school training at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, practiced for seven years as a general dentist in the US Army, then returned to specialize in pediatric dentistry at the University of Kentucky.
Children may be apprehensive about visiting the dentist. Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Heeter are experienced pediatric dentists and specialize in interacting with children and will explain procedures in a pleasant and non-frightening manner. We don't expect your child to sit alone in the dental chair at this young age, so we do what's called a "lap to lap".
Commonly known as "laughing gas, " nitrous oxide helps reduce your child's anxiety during dental treatment. By placing a small breathing mask over the child's nose, nitrous oxide works with normal breathing within just a few minutes. Nitrous oxide helps alter perception of pain and warps time for those on whom it is effective.

They got my kiddo in and treated, with a further treatment plan in place within a week and a half! Lovely ladies over there we spent MONTHS trying to get in at our previous office so they definitely saved us (my baby moreso, since it's his teeth) a ton of time and trouble. We're very happy to be at Grinz For Kids!

I took my 9 year old for an initial visit and she fell in love with the staff instantly. The staff are truly amazing. They are courteous and extremly helpful. I could go on and on praising them. Go check them out for yourself and you will be just as happy as my daughter Baylee and my self. Sincerly, Sarah Young

We went to a different kids dentist where I felt like for my kids 1st dentist appt. they were rushed out the door and not spending time with them (or me) to make it a great experience or explain the situation. Someone recommended Grins to us and I am so thrilled with this office! Their staff was absolutely amazing and beyond patient with both of my kids and spent extra time with them showing them all the tools and getting them comfortable with the tools and x-rays. I honestly am overjoyed and have nothing but amazing things to say about the Grins' staff and Dr. Ortiz!

This office has canceled an appointment without notifying me, as well as gave me an appointment that was not put into the system on a separate occasion. Being that you have to schedule an appointment about 3 months out you can see the level of inconvenience this would cause. I feel they take advantage of the limited pediatric dentists available in the area and provide unprofessional/dissorganised subpar care because of this.
