AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Most horrible experience at a dentist. The dentist couldn't numb me so he asked If I could "white knuckle it" through having a cavity drilled. Brutal! I don't recommend trying it! They had already charged me and weren't letting me leave without finishing it. So I let them finish. Unreal pain! If that weren't enough, they gouged me severely for their horid work. Then wanted to do an additional 10k of unnecessary work. Go for a 2nd opinion! Talega was the most painful dental visit both financially and physically.

I have been going to this office for over 3 years and have had nothing but good experiences with the doctors and staff there. They once squeezed me in same day when I had an emergency (cracked tooth). And most recently, Dr Salem did some incredible artwork on my front teeth. They were pitted, chipped, had cavities, and were discolored. They now look like perfect natural teeth.
I honestly wasn't expecting them to look so good! It has increased my confidence and has me smiling more :) To boot, the office is immaculate and modern, and they are taking every precaution for Covid. Thanks to everyone there!

Poor customer service. I took my two kids in for their semi-annual check up in Nov 2019 and was told my daughter had a cavity on #19 - the bottom, back adult molar that they had advised in April about adding sealants. So I asked to see how they determined this cavity. The doctor probed around her back molars, gently pushing down. My 9 year old at this point doesn't quince or make any uncomfortable faces - which as an adult i can tell you there have been some uncomfortable check ups that I thought i had a cavity. FIRST RED FLAG Then I start asking the doctor more about the sealants and questioning due to my experience as a kid.
At this point he is getting frustrated with me and tells me that if i don't trust him he doesn't need to service any of my family SECOND RED FLAG. I then decide to go home and think about it. On the way out I overhear a patient say something about the "deep cleaning" she had to do and due to another experience THIRD RED FLAG. Upon getting home I start to Google reviews on this place only to find similar experiences to mine - suggesting work that isn't required.
So i took my daughter to have a second option the next day - second opinion - her orthodontist - confirmed no cavity. FINAL I also want to say i called her old dentist and in Dec 2018 she didn't even have this tooth. So by April 2019 the adult cavity had come in and then by November 2019 he is saying there is already a cavity. I get it - kids don't always brush - but i know she brushes twice a day, i know i have her use a mouth wash - and i know she uses it because i am replacing empty bottles.
Finally I want to say that they never even took a current an xray - they tried to tell me over email that they determined the cavity in November using xrays taken in April - that doesn't make sense to me since there was no discussion of a cavity in April. I could have given a 1 star for what i believe is dishonest work trying to create work. Instead I gave 2 stars for poor customer service not only because of the way they handled our visit in house, but also if they were so concerned with a cavity - why haven't i received a follow up call, email, text asking how my daughter is doing? After all, shouldn't this service be about the health of a patient and not the money.

Great service! After have a bad experience with a different dentist in San Clemente, I was nervous to go back. After seeing the great reviews for The Talega Dental Group, I thought to give this one a try. This place exceeded expectations! The entire staff was welcoming and friendly. The office itself is brand new, and I had no wait time. I enjoyed being around experienced, knowledgeable individuals. I will definitely be back!

I would give them no stars if I could. I went here as a new patient for my 6month cleaning and was very displeased with how they handle their practice. At first they seemed really professional, after taking my x rays (which were poorly taken and overlapping in some spots) they said i needed a 3/4 cap on my back tooth a deep cleaning and a small cavity filled.
It would be 1000$ out of pocket! So of course I was shocked because i take very good care of my teeth and none of them are bothering me. I told them that I needed to think about it and get a second opinion and that I just wanted to get my regular cleaning. They refused to give me a regular cleaning because the dr said I needed a deep cleaning, I was about to just leave and then they changed their mind and said they would do it.
I should have just left but I was desperate because I finally had babysitters in town. MISTAKE! I got the worst cleaning I've ever had, I could have brushed my teeth better then the cleaning they gave me and left with my teeth still feeling grimy in some spots. The next day I was able to get a second opinion from a highly recommended dentist and I had nothing wrong with my teeth.
I was told i have a small cavity that I need to take care of so it doesn't get any deeper and that is it. Do yourself a favor and don't go here, they are not honest at all and just out to make a buck. I'm not so angry at their assessment, it was more of the way I was treated after telling them I wanted a second opinion that made me write the review.

This office is the best! I used to have braces from a different dental office, but I recently got them removed. I was recommended to go here by my family, and I wanted to get my teeth whitened since I used to have braces. They gave me some time to think about the whitening treatment, and they gave me a free take home whitening tray to test it out. I loved the results, so I came back for the real thing. I love the results.

I've always been terrified of going to the dentist, but not anymore! This is the best dental experience I've had in a very long time. The doctor really took his time to explain what he was going to do and put my mind at ease. It's probably one of the cleanest offices I've ever been to and the best part was they have their own payment plan if you don't have dental insurance. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a good, honest, and reliable dentist who's not interested in ripping you off!
