Goleta Dental Care

Stay away from this dentist they are shady. Their service is very unprofessional and I would definitely go somewhere else. If they had better service I would change my review.

Very good office. Had my wisdom teeth out in Orange County last week. Ended up with a "dry socket". (according to the surgeon who did the surgery)I had so much pain that I could not sleep at night. This office's receptionist was very sympathetic. She told me that they were booked up for the day but if I were to walk in, they'd try their best to squeeze me in.

The dentist, Dr Sheng, did not keep me waiting at all. She put some kind of medicinal paste/ bandage on the dry socket and took the pain away immediately! Best thing? She gave me a big wad of said paste/bandage to take home, free of charge, so I can replace as needed. I'd definitely go back for my other dental needs!

Dr. Nguyen is highly professional and does great work. I recently had a 20 year old root canal that needed to be extracted and he did a great job with a tough requirement! Also especially recommend Vidi for dental cleaning.

Dr. Sheng is amazing! I was able to get in on the same day. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable.

I came here once. Never ever will come back here! All they want is your money. Even for a small 2 min talk visit they will take 100 dollars out of your pocket. Not recommended. If any of you want a great quality dentist I know of one! Don't hesitate to ask me!

I went here 2 years prior and was told that I had two cavities on my back molars that needed to be drilled out and filled. I scheduled an appointment but never went in. I got a bad feeling from him. Well low and behold when I asked my new dentist if he saw any cavities he said no that my teeth looked great. So I asked him if cavities just go away on their own.

He laughed, said no and asked why I asked. This same dentist that told me I had the cavities also told me that my wisdom teeth were impacted and had to come out or they would destroy my smile. My new dentist simply said that they have been there for 40 years and the pain I felt was from a piece of food and there was no reason to remove them. A trustworthy dentist is like a trustworthy mechanic or lawyer. Once you find one stick with them. I strongly recommend finding another dentist. This one seems to want to do unnecessary work to make money. IMO

"Shoddy work by Dr. Nguyen." That was the evaluation by our two family dentists when my son returned home from UCSB. I am furious that UCSB med recommended he go to Goleta Dental! Now we are facing thousands of dollars to redo my son's two crowns, which this time will not be insured because it has been less than five years since they were installed.

Both of our family dentists say that the "margins are incorrect, " meaning that the chance of decay getting in between the crown and tooth are high. They recommend redoing them immediately. DO NOT GO HERE! You have been warned. I only wish my son had read the numerous complaints below before going to this practice. He was in pain and not in any position to shop around for a reputable dentist. UCSB Med should NEVER recommend students go here. It's akin to malpractice to send unsuspecting students to this charlatan.

We have asked for a full refund of our out-of-pocket expenses, but suspect we will need to take this higher to get restitution. The money, however, is nothing compared to the loss of time, the pain, and the frustration of getting work done by an inept practitioner. He should be ASHAMED of preying on uninformed consumers--eg--the students who don't know any better than to go here.

Botched my crown procedure, lied about not taking ucsb insurance, untrustworthy and incompetent. I had a crown procedure done here & after getting x rays at a different dentist, found out that they had been put on wrong (the crowns didn't totally cover the inside tooth and thus needed to be reapplied). Not wanting to jump to conclusions, I sought out two separate opinions from trusted dentists in the Bay Area who agreed that the crowns were put on wrong.

They recommended that I go back to the original dentist who preformed the procedure and have them reapplied. Back to the original procedure/my experience here: -I was referred to this dentist by ucsb student health, who assured me that the practice accepted ucsb insurance. Upon arriving, I was told that they did not accept ucsb insurance. I paid out of pocket ($900) as I was in pain and needed the procedure done.

I later returned to ucsb student health and found out that the dentist lied about not accepting ucsb insurance. They likely did so to collect cash up front instead of having to wait for the insurance to reimburse them -the procedure took 2 FULL DAYS (roughly 12-14 hours), which was confirmed to be an absurdly long time by the dentists I saw after -I eventually got reimbursed by ucsb insurance for the cash spent, but the dentist's office was unhelpful and attempted to stall out paying me back in hopes that I would give up.

All in all, it was a horrible experience. They have a steady source of business being so close to ucsb & take advantage of the students by lying to get money up front. Furthermore, they couldn't even get the surgery right. Avoid at all costs

Great staff! They were incredibly accommodating after my PayFlex account decided to give us a hard time regarding a dental service. Sarah was able to help me with their difficult specific guidelines. Also, both dental hygienists we've had our wonderful! And of course, Dr. Nguyen is extremely helpful, professional, and just a nice guy. Thanks Goleta Dental Care!

Great dentist! Dr. Nguyen does great work. Even on a holiday, Dr. Nguyen was willing to come in for emergency dental work with superior care. Highly recommend Goleta Dental Care!

I have been a patient of Dr. Nguyen for at least 7 years. No dental experience is ever a walk in the park but Dr. Nguyen and his staff have always done their best to make it as easy, and comfortable as possible. They have always been very flexible with their scheduling and I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen by the doctor. I have full trust and confidence in the care that I receive here.

We are currently working on straightening my teeth with "Clear correct" my monthly visits to Goleta Dental have become an exciting and pleasant experience. I always look forward to seeing the smiling faces of all of the staff. Truly the friendliest and most caring people.

I have been to Goleta dental several times and have been impressed with Dr. Nguyen and his staff. He is very willing to accommodate patients on short notice when a dental problem occurs. He discusses various options and then follows through with excellent work!

Dr. Nguyen is excellent. Never had a dentist give me a follow up call.but he did. : Staff are very cool. Easy parking.

Unprofessional, unfriendly, untrustworthy staff -- mostly because of Dr. Nguyen. I came in with a very severe headache, found out I needed a root canal, and was then referred to an endodontist to actually do the root canal, since it seems that Dr. Nguyen was unable to do root canals cleanly in the past. When I finished the root canal, I came back to get a follow-up X-Ray and found out there was another hole in my bottom tooth that Dr. Nguyen apparently "missed". Won't be coming back, no thank you.

Dr. Nguyen is awesome. I approached his office to inquire on how much an abscessed wisdom tooth would cost. They invited me in for a free consultation, after the consultation he determined that I was correct and that the wisdom tooth had to be pulled. He was professional and compassionate and he has excellent bed-side manner. After I only paid $425.00 to have the tooth pulled, I asked if he could fix my lower implants, 3 fakes were pushing out a damaged tooth, he did a bridge and did all 4 after pulling the damaged tooth.

My smile is incredible and he is, in my opinion, one of the best Dentists I have been to in 40 years. He has a gal that is an expert at insurance and is a real shark when it comes to fighting for you. They also have excellent plans where they offer monthly installments for big jobs. I would recommend this dentist to everyone. His staff is awesome and he will advise but ultimately it is your decision and the fact that he doesn't pressure you into making a decision makes him the only choice.

I had a great experience and successful treatment of some serious dental problems as well as cosmetic dental work, including replacing a crown on an older implant, and a root canal on a front tooth. I've referred family and friends to Goleta Dental Care and all have had positive experiences. Like most people, I rarely write reviews unless I'm upset about something, but the negative reviews here are so at odds with my experience I thought I'd speak up. Overall, Dr. Nguyen is professional and, did not try to upsell me on unneeded treatment or cosmetic dentistry like most dental practices seem to do these days.

This was the worst dental experience I have had. Since Dr. Gregory S. Charleon had left the office, the quality of this facility (with exception of the nice dental assistant lady), has hit rock bottom. You've been warned. Nyugen is rude and arrogant, does not effective allow novicane to reduce feeling before he starts his drilling and prying.

I informed the office prior to my arrival, that I was in pain and needed a root canal. Sat me down and began removing my gold crown (didn't offer it to me, that's a first for me). I guess they figured I didn't need $80 of gold that was owned by me. Meanwhile after continuous communication with the dentist, that my pain had not numbed, he slowly continued his procedure.

The receptionist, later entered and had me sign a document while I was in exteme pain. Note this document suggested the price of the replacement crown, I was not given a choice of crowns (another first for me) Dr said he only used the 2 varieties that I informed about. Funny there was no informing, and I was offered only one kind. (more than likely it was the one with the higher price margin.) Then to top it off.

I was outsourced to another dentist to actually do the work I had requested. (According to past users on YELP, Seems Nyugen has a messy time with some procedures. So why did I come to this place? Because my old dentist was great, and I could only assume they would replace with a man of his quality. I was wrong. So Dr. NYUGEN and his crew get 1 Star. 1) mostly for the nice assistant lady. 2) lack of patient pain control 3) lack of professionalism 4) asking for a signature from a patient in extreme pain (Google 'duress') 5) lack of ability to meet my needs correctly 6) didn't like Nyugen as a person, and he was hard to trust. 7) my mouth hurt for weeks after he finished. 8) keeping my gold crown, and not having the decency to offer it up. 9) offered me no choice of replacement crowns Never again!

I hate going to the dentist but I have to say I loved Dr. Nguyen and his staff. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Dr. Nguyen made sure I understood my treatment (I needed a crown) he was honest about the prognosis of my tooth and the possibility of it needing a root canal. I have been back to Goleta Dental for my cleanings as well and my experiences have always been GREAT!

I am new to Goleta and was looking for a new dentist. I got a flyer in the mail and went to get a check up. The check up went fine but then told me I had 4 cavities that I should get drilled. I've never had a cavity before so it was a little unnerving for me. Besides that the atmosphere I got was more like that of an auto-repair shop. They get you in the shop for something minor and find stuff to make money off of you. I remember how even when I was leaving, no one asked if I wanted to a 6 month check up or anything. I had to ask about it. I guess they are not used to people coming back.

Worst dental experience ever. The office often charges us for some unknown, random reasons that they didn't tell us before the treatment. Dr. Nguyen is the only dentist there and he is often unavailable. His is very unskilled, rude, does NOT care about the patients at all, and very impatient. All they want is to get as much money out of your pocket as they can.

This did not only happen to my but 3 of other people I've talked to also agreed with me. I regret for choosing Goleta Dental Care. It was such a bad decision and I warn anybody who is considering choosing Dr. Nguyen.

I gave it two attempts. As others have posted this office is really bad. The patient care starts from the owner and Doctor. The service and care from the receptionist, dental hygienist, to especially doctor Nguyen was really unbelievable. The first time I went in I thought maybe I caught them on an off day. No medical office can be that crazy rude could they?

The second time the treatment was even worse. Receptionist rude, hygienist complaining about her job, listened to the lady in the chair next to me get scolded for her teeth to where she was apologizing. You can't make this stuff up. I was shocked. Dr. Nguyen makes you feel like you are 1) lucky to be in his chair, while 2) bothered you are there because he has something else he would rather do. Just weird. I really recommend you find someone else to care for your teeth than this practice.

If you value your teeth at all, DO NOT GO TO DR. NGUYEN! Worst experience I have EVER had at a dentist office! He ruined my teeth : and was very rude the entire time. I don't think he has any idea what he is doing when it comes to being a dentist. I had to go to another dentist in town to review the work he did on my cavities and that dentist was horrified. If I could give him zero stars I would. Trust me when I say do not go to him!

Dr. Charlton is the Master of the Molar. He is the count of the Canine, the beau of my bicuspid, the emperor of the incisor. Seriously, this guy is awesome I fell asleep during a root canal. His prices are reasonable too, and he doesn't make you feel guilty about being one nasty mothafucka' when it comes to oral hygiene.
