Having braces in high school isn't really a big deal because everyone has them and it's fun to show off your teeth with all your cool colors. I am excited about getting braces at Fry Orthodontics because I have seen how much my brother's teeth have changed, and I want my teeth to be straight like his. Having a pretty smile is important because your smile can impact other people.
A bright smile can help others have a better day! The staff members at Fry Orthodontics always make me feel really special and they always have a bright smile when I come for my appointments.

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. An orthodontist is a specialist who has special skills in managing tooth movement and facial development. To become an orthodontist, one must complete 10-11 years of additional education following high school: a standard 4-year baccalaureate program, then four years of dental school (thus becoming a dentist), and then a 2- or 3-year orthodontic residency-program.
A toothache is mild to severe pain in or around a tooth. A number of factors cause this including tooth decay, a tooth abscess, filling damage, teeth grinding, or a gum infection. Common symptoms from toothaches include swollen gums, drainage from the affected tooth, and a fever or a headache. If the pain from a toothache is severe, if it is accompanied by a fever or a headache, or if it lasts for more than 1-2 days, you should go to the dentist for an examination.Depending on the cause and severity of the problem, your dentist may fill a cavity or extract the tooth.

Don't believe anything they say in regards to your treatment and if they say come back in a month, they really mean 2 because there are no appointments available. They're more than happy to take on new patients (or should I say customers) without taking care of their current ones and meeting their needs. On one occasion, an ortho just dismissed me and didn't even bother telling me when to come back and then it was an appointment I had to schedule 3 more months out due to that orthos negligence.
It has obnoxiously extended my treatment by MONTHS because of their negligence and unavailability of appointment. When my daughter needs braces, we will be picking a different orthodontist. This is a statement regarding Fry as a whole and not this specific location. When I try to make appointments, I am open to making them at different locations and it's still impossible to get one within a decent time frame. What was supposed to be 18 months of treatment is turning into 2 years because I can't make appointments.

My daughter was very young when she started the process with braces. So needless to say it was a very scary experience for her. But the comfort of the staff from the Shawnee office from front to back along with Dr. Nguyen, my daughter had a clear understanding and support and took every appointment with stride! Needless to say, but I will say it she is proud of herself and appreciates all the care it took to get her where she is today!
Happy that her smile is complete and ready to eat some POPCORN! I'm sure this care is continued throughout all the locations! I'm just partial to where the care began and has continued, even through these times with the pandemic they got my daughter rescheduled and never once did I have to go to another clinic. Extremely grateful to all the staff in all the locations for putting their health at risk to continue the great care for my daughter and the other patients.
I pray that all the staff in all locations will continue to stay safe and healthy for their families and their patients families, because we need you and we definitely can use the smiles! God bless all of you, stay safe!

Huge thanks to everyone!

This place is fine as far as orthodontists go, and price is the same as most other places, but having to make an appointment with them is more difficult than it needs to be. When most of your patients are school-aged kids, a day or two each week with extended hours would not be a bad idea. I don't feel I should have to take my kid out of school for a 10-minute adjustment.

Took my son to the office on SMPKWY last year for a consult, walked out with full set of braces same day He just got them off today and I'm amazed at the results! Dr. Kelly is awesome! I love how she interacted with my son and spoke directly to him and explained the process each step of the way. Everyone working there have been nothing but friendly, caring and accommodating. I highly recommend Fry Orthodontics!

We have had the best experience with Fry Ortho! From the time we walk in to the time we walk out, we are greeted by name and our appointments are usually in and out without any long wait! Dr. Kelly and the staff are so awesome to work with through the whole process. I definitely would recommend them. I wish we could give them more than 5! -Davis Family

BEWARE! This billing practices of this company were apparently written by the Gambino crime family. I was late on a payment and when I went to bring the account current - I was told that they "dismissed" the account and I would have to enter into a new contract with auto-deduct. When I objected they made clear that my daughter would not receive any more orthodontics service until I signed the new contract -- literally an offer you can't refuse! Reprehensible. Your kids teeth/health are simply a commodity to them to be leveraged against whoever is paying the bill.

Upon the poor customer service I received while in the consultation stage with my son, I did receive a call from Dr. Fry. He made sure to let me know he was on vacation with his wife and took time out of his schedule to call me. He also made a point to let me know that someone in his office may have acted poorly in sales and that I should relate since I'm in sales, as he discovered by my voice mail.
At least that's what I'm hoping vs she judged me because I was in sales. Since I'm not sure, that's not a good thing. Most of all he let me know how many customers he does have and it made me feel like a number. As my spouse pointed out after I got off the call, did he ask what he could do to keep my business? No he didn't and he didn't offer anything to me, to reflect he wanted to keep my business.
Like for example the simple question of how can I keep your business? Not even a let us take 10% off the original price because we overcharged you. My spouse said he definitely has the power to make anything like that happen but it wasn't even a thought. After all he must need a way to continue those vacations! There are TOO many orthodontic choices in Kansas City to be a number and deal with poor customer service. I say to you Dr. Fry, maybe you also need to learn a lesson from this vs just your staff as you suggested.

It was twenty years ago that i went to Fry Orthodontics. Back then i only had 2 options of places to go to but a third was opening. Now look at the Fry Practice! They were an AMAZING group of doctors with Dr Fry Sr & Jr leading them. Years later i had broken my flipper & they allowed me to come back & they replaced it for me! I'm talking like 15 years or so later! THEY ARE THE BEST BY FAR!

I have literally waited 20 years of my life to get braces without having four teeth extracted due to severe crowding. I have seen several orthodontists abroad, in Washington DC, and in Overland Park but I haven't come across anyone like Dr. Jeremy. He was the first doctor who recommended me to have braces without any extraction and that was my dream come true situation.
He thoroughly explained the entire process to me & my husband. We felt very satisfied after our first consultation and decided to move forward with him. Luckily, that was the best decision we have ever made. I had a severe crowding and after having braces for 18 months, I have got the smile I have always dreamt of. I love Dr. Jeremy & the entire staff.
I have moved back to Washington DC but in every two year, I visit Dr. Jeremy to get my new retainers. They always go above & beyond to make my trip pleasant & to meet my expectations. The entire staff is very friendly & welcoming. I highly highly highly recommend Dr. Jeremy. You will NOT regret ever!

I have absolutely no complaints about this office; however I could see where the more sensitive types who like very attentive service would see this as more of an assembly line. I do have to admit- my case was very simple- I only had Invisalign for 4 months. I had an initial visit to talk price and treatment. I went ahead and also had my x rays and scans done because I went in knowing I wanted Invisalign.
I had a second visit where I got the trays (I was give 12 sets up front), a 3rd where I got the last couple of trays/to make sure it was going well, and my 4th was when they removed the little button things from my teeth (they were put on so the Invisalign would snap on before I started my treatment) and took impressions for my retainers. I only went back for a couple of minutes after that to get my retainers and make sure they fit well.
Although my doctors were not my best friends I never felt they were unavailable, paid too little attention, gave too little time to me etc. I think they are very efficient. I don't want to be at the doctor all damn day. For the most part, I was in and out. When I made appointments I never had a problem getting in, but I also never had any problems with my treatment or needed them for anything outside of my visits.
I think the staff is EXTREMELY nice and helpful. Invisalign is not easy at first. Having something in my mouth all the time initially made me want to gag. I also had a lot of problems with the trays cutting my tongue and inside of my lips/mouth. I had to file down every single tray with a nail file before I put them in. Eventually the pressure and the generally feeling of something in your mouth goes away.
I was totally fine about a week in.maybe a week and a half. Filing helped me A TON. I wore my trays at least 22 hours/day and only drank water. There is more pressure when you change your tray, but it went away after day 2 for me. I was given 2 options for retainers after treatment- either another tray (but it's thicker and more sturdy) or a permanent one that they glue in.
I went with the tray. I have to wear it 8 hours a night FOR THE REST OF MY NATURAL LIFE. I think the treatment in total was $4,800 and you get a minor discount for paying in full upfront. You get a free retainer each year for life after treatment and I also got my front teeth filed after because they had ridges. That didn't cost me anything. I had 16 trays total and changed them weekly. Again, I had a very simple case. It was so much money I almost had a heart attack, but, for me, it was definitely worth the results. The new car will just have to wait until next year.

Our Orthodontist (Dr. Osborne) retired and the practice is now under the much larger Fry Orthodontic Specialists Group. Before the change, appointments were easy to get and change. Dr. Osborne ran a great office with a great staff. We do like Dr. Zach Williams but now under Fry, appoints are literally months out if you need to reschedule. The personal touch has been lost within the office and it feels much more like an assembly line business. I had to rescheduled an appointment due to illness and the earliest appoint they could find that would work was almost 2 months later.

I got a living social deal for a consult for invisalign.something I've wanted to do for years. The office staff was SUPER friendly. I was a little nervous because I made the appointment over my lunch break, but as soon as I walked in, I got to go straight back, and not just sit in a room and wait, but start immediately! I was in and out in less than 40 minutes and was very impressed.
They work with you on any questions they have, help you figure out your insurance, go the extra mile. The only thing is they are a little more expensive than most places, but I guess that is what you get when the orthodontist is on the board for it! I've got an appointment to come back in a couple of months and am excited to go back!

The Boy, sadly, inherited my awful teeth, so he's going through the braces regime just as I did thirty-something years go. Let me tell you, orthodontia is light-years ahead of where it was then, and Fry has been providing state-of-the-art care for his teeth. They are gentle, his smile is already much improved (although he still has several months to go before the final configuration) and the staff is helpful & will work with you on insurance coverages & payment plans. Plus, their multiple locations make them uber-convenient.

Fry Orthodontics is really great! I already had braces as a kid but over time my teeth started to shift a bit, I wasn't happy with my smile anymore and was embarrassed at times to show my teeth. So I went into Fry and we came up with a great plan to help me get my perfect smile. I ended up getting Invisalign which was perfect for me! Fry is very affordable and I even received a discount for being referred by a friend who was already a customer there. Dr. Jeremy is such a nice guy and really made every visit easy and very comfortable.
I am now more confident with my smile, I smile a lot more and I'm definitely not embarrassed to show my teeth anymore. I highly recommend Fry Orthodontics to anyone looking to improve their smile. Thanks so much FRY!
