I've been going to Excellence in Dentistry for about 10 yrs and I'm always happy with my experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the hygienists and assistants are great, and Dr Batchelor is the best dentist I've ever had. He's friendly and efficient and always explains any problems with my teeth thoroughly.

It is always a good experience going to the Dentist when it is Dr. Batchelor and the wonderful people at Excellence in Dentistry. I find it fun, yes fun to go to the dentist. Everyone makes you feel welcome and takes great care of you. The care for giving you a safe and clean environment was very evident and appreciated. I felt safe to go during this COVID19 time. They took all the precautions.

What a great dental experience! Clearly, a great deal of thought and planning has gone into Covid-related dentistry at this office. Multiple obvious sanitation efforts were in place. Micheala was super--very professional and explained each step of her actions. I appreciated being able to request staff who had their Covid vaccines. I highly recommend this facility and staff. Got my teeth cleaned during COVID; my first time in any health care facility. They took every precaution: had me wait in the car and communicated via text for me to come inside; limited number of patients; air filter machines added to every room; full PPE and face shields worn by the employees. Aside from that, the hygienist was very informative and knowledgeable; gave me good tips for reducing tartar. The dentist is personable, clear in his explanations, and patient with questions. Honestly, can't ask for anything better.

I would recommend this dentist to anyone who enjoys a friendly and professional experience. My original encounter with Excellence in Dentistry was for aesthetic purposes only. It took me awhile to even find a dentist to do it. Everyone told me to go to some guys basement in Saint Louis. Im glad i was able to get it done properly and professionally.

Once I got dental insurance I got the few minor things i needed done and it wasnt a bad time at all. In and out. Don't think twice, if these guys take your insurance, this is the place for you.

They have had to fix so many of their own mistakes costing me hundreds of dollars. Spent a year in pain and was not able to chew on the left side of my mouth because they kept messing up a filling. Then I ended up needing a crown. When I got my crown the dental hygienist dropped it in the back of my mouth and I almost chocked on it! Just have had terrible experiences there. I still need stuff fixed from their mistakes. But I will be finding a new dentist.

A friendly dentist does not equate to being medically sound.

I am so glad that I found Dr Hill and his staff. I was diagnosed with severe periodontal disease (due to factors not entirely my fault) and every dentist I went to treated me disrespectfully and told me to pull out all my teeth. Dr Hill did not promise me any miracles, but said that there may be hope with periodontal laser treatment. I had the laser treatment and now I finally have hope for the first time in a long time.

I am still in the healing process but so far things are very much improving. Dr Hill is a great dentist and you can sense the years of experience and expertise that he has. He is realistic about your treatment, but not pessimistic about outcomes and willing to listen to what you want. I felt that I had individual attention and that I was treated as a valued patient, not just another number.

His staff are all great, but I especially had great experiences with Diane, the hygienist. The office is welcoming and comfortable. If you are thinking about getting laser periodontal treatment, I would recommend Dr Hill. Excellence in Dentistry is one of only two dental offices in Madison that offer Periolase, and having had consultation at both, I would definitely recommend and choose Dr Hill!

I used to loathe visiting the dentist's office - until I became a client at Excellence in Dentistry. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. They make every effort to make your visit as comfortable as possible and the quality of their work is outstanding. Amy Sergeant is the best dentist I've ever had. Simply put, you couldn't pay me to take my business elsewhere in the Madison area. Highest recommendation possible - you won't be disappointed.

I had a 6-upper-front-tooth porcelain bridge replaced by Dr. Hill in March 2013 and within 4 years of this work being done the two front teeth have broken. I have had a lot of dental work and I am super careful about my teeth. Dr. Hill refused to guarantee the work, and to get the front teeth fixed, the whole bridge has to be replaced (because it's porcelain).

I would definitely advise anyone seeing Dr. Hill for restorations to get a 2nd opinion, and if choosing to opt for his services, to get an idea what kind of guarantee he will provide for the quality of his work and materials. It does not seem reasonable that a dental product should fail that quickly and there would be no quality guarantee. Super disappointed in this practice. Buyer beware.

I am so excited to be moving home to Madison in a couple of months for many reasons. One of them just happens to be my dentist, Dr. Ed Batchelor. What a guy. Kind, funny, and an outstanding dentist. His staff is top notch as well. The office is almost spa-like, and you leave with a bottle of water, chapstick, and a freshly-baked cookie (cue Midwest Express flashbacks. RIP). Dr. B and team secured their ranking when I had a dental emergency the week of graduation.

I had gone out the night before (see Crystal Corner review) and lost my "flipper" partial denture-type thing. I was two days to graduation weekend and absolutely panicking because I assumed I would have to go toothless. I called the orthodontist who had provided the flipper originally, but they would have to send it to a lab which would take at least a week. So, I figured I'd give my dentist a call, assuming it would be the same response. Instead, they do that sort of thing in house, and I had "new teeth" within 6 hours. Saved my college graduation weekend. These folks are the pros.

I have been seeing Dr Hill for many years and trust him implicitly. Having dealt with TMJ since my 20s (now in my 50s) I know, only too well, the pain associated with flare ups. I was experiencing another major flare up and Dr Hill's knowledge of TMJ and treatments were nothing short of lifesaving for me. Having dealt with many dentists over the years, I can assure you this should be your choice for dental and TMJ care. Excellence in Dentistry is truly the perfect name for Dr Hill's practice and staff.

I have great respect and gratitude for Dr. Batchelor. He first worked on my daughter at another dental office when she was in her teens (about 8 years ago). She had SEVERE dentist phobia. When he left there, I was so sad as he was a godsend. I found he was working with Excellence in Dentistry and both my daughter, who is now an adult, and I are going to him. He's conscientious, knowledgeable, he stays up on modern techniques, compassionate and has hired a staff that is phenomenal.

I had a great experience with my first visit to Excellence in Dentistry. The receptionist was extremely kind and helpful. Nice kid area where my son was able to hangout. I feel the hygienist and the Doctor were knowledgeable and professional, and I especially liked the preventative approach. I feel comfortable in starting a dental plan there for myself.

I see Dr. Batchelor as my regular dentist. He is awesome. He's gentle, competent, and very caring. I have gotten first rate service from everyone I've dealt with at his office. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Couple different thoughts here. When my 8 year old chipped her touch on the sidewalk. Dr Jim Hill was awesome. I did not deal with the issues directly although my wife did. After 13 years, I am getting better at listening to her and reading her. I can tell you that the service she and my daughter had that evening was powerful. Other times, yes, I would agree with a another review where the business may not listen well, clearly having a agenda that is not the clients.

If they hit the clients needs often, it is because they do have things in place based on some listening and trends in the industry. So that is good. That said, about 95% of the businesses I visit are like not listening well. I would hope we do better at our business at listening.that is a huge goal of our D Angels. We'll be staying at Excellence in Dentistry.and welcome any listening done!

Went back in to have the work looked at and I really felt like the dentist either wasn't listening or didn't care because he wasn't getting paid for the service. Sad times. Still would recommend the place very highly though.
