For the vast majority of orthodontic patients, wearing fixed appliances (commonly called braces) will be a major part of treatment - and those braces, for the most part, will be the familiar silvery-metal type. But while they're still quite popular, traditional-looking metal braces are no longer the only game in town!
Dentistry is an art as well as a science; dental crowns offer a perfect example of this. A dental crown or "cap" is a covering that fits over a damaged, decayed or unattractive tooth. It can even replace a tooth entirely as part of dental bridgework. A crown completely covers a tooth above the gum line.
When you hear the word "orthodontics, " what comes to mind? Probably a young teenager whose teeth are covered by a latticework of metal. There are indeed many orthodontic patients who fit that description. However, there now exists an increasingly popular alternative to traditional metal braces: Invisalign clear aligners.

I had pain while brushing on one of my front teeth. Called for an appointment and was seen quickly and problem solved. I was in the office less than an hour and left pain free. Michelle Matheson DDS is excellent in her field. Although I am very poor at maintaining a proper cleaning schedule, the staff and her have always been very supportive when I needed emergency care. Due to my work schedule the office is quite understanding in trying to accommodate my schedule. The support staff and front desk staff are also very good at their jobs, professional, yet friendly. The electronic messaging reminders for upcoming appointments enhances my poor memory and is an excellent addition to scheduling.

I joined Dr Monica's practice after my long time Dentist, Dr Fosse, retired. I can't say she loves me as much as my dog, Benji, yet I feel treated very well! Both with the quality of care I receive from Dr Monica and Lynn, the Dental hygienist, and the feeling of family/community that is critical in health care. So, thank you! Can't say I want to see you more than twice a year! But when I do it has always been a good experience.

I've been going to Dr Michelle since she started her practice. I've been very pleased and trust her with every procedure that she does. The Dental Hygienist I've been going to ever since I can remember is Shawn. She is also very good at her work. As a matter of fact, everyone working there is very pleasant to talk with. Even though our son is a dentist, I will always remain with the people at Northshore Dental.

I love this office, I have been going to Dr. Monica for a long time, and what is great about that is your dentist gets to know you and your mouth very well and that helps with comfort level, etc. The office is very accommodating and will you get in right away for an urgent visit/procedure. All the staff are very caring, I can always count on them! Dr. Monica and Michelle, I have seen both are such great docs! Love seeing both of them!
