Urban Dental

I am in Houston for work when I started having a toothache that radiated pain to my ear as I've never experienced before. Urban Dental was just across the street from the condo I was staying at so-called them late afternoon on Tuesday and they were able to fit me in the following afternoon. Dr. Moon suggested the problem tooth required removal or root canal.

A root canal it was and within two hours I was on my way. Dr. Moon and his entire staff were so friendly and professional. If I was a resident of Houston this would be my dentist's office. The best dental experience ever!

I was between dentists and so when a occasional pain in a molar that I had a crown on became an excruciating all the time pain I knew I needed an emergency dental procedure. We found Dr Moon under a search for emergency dental procedures and they accepted me as a patient immediately and scheduled my appointment for just a couple of hours later the same day. Dr.

Moon and his staff are very friendly and very professional and I am so glad I went to them. Dr. Moon was able to drill a small hole in my crown and then spent a lot of his time working through the small hole on my infected tooth to be sure that it was 100% clean, all while working with his regularly scheduled patients. He closed the hole on completion to save my existing crown so that I do not have to go back for a crown replacement. I am definitely looking to have Dr. Moon and his team to be my permanent location for dentistry.

Been seeing Dr. Moon now for 10+ years. He and his hygienists are top notch. Dr Moon is honest and has a no BS attitude, just an all round great guy and dentist!

I have really sensitive teeth and so when it is time to go to the dentist, I feel a little anxious. I have been going there for about 5 years and they have been very friendly and remember what part of my mouth to be gentle on. The staff and Dr. Moon are very personable and have a positive attitude. I recommend people to Urban Dental if they are searching for a new office.

Dr. Moon went above and beyond in maintaining the pearls. And now he does INIVISALIGN which I didn't know before! I wouldn't go anywhere else. :-

This review is long overdue. I have been going to Dr Moon for almost 5 years now, and could not have found a better practice for my dental needs than Urban Dental. Dr Moon is detailed in explaining to his patients. The hygienists are thorough with their cleaning procedure. Front desk is professional in going over insurance coverage. Their scheduling and wait-list for appointments is quite effective.

Long story short. I called for the first available appointment as a new patient and a cleaning - it was a couple months away and somewhat expected. My appointment was on a Monday and I got a call the Thursday before telling me their scheduling system screwed up and she had to move my appointment. From there the customer service experience fell apart.

I was supposed to hear from them the next day, but all I get is text alerts reminding me that I have appointments at the time I told her I had a work meeting. They are closed Fridays, so I couldn't reach anyone and had to leave a message explaining my dilemma. Fortunately I head back on Sunday but they failed to find a time to reschedule my appointment.

It was either I took the appointment at the time I had a prior work meeting or I get back on the list for an appointment in a couple months. I had heard good things and I trust they are a good practice but they failed to right the wrong that occurred because of their system failure. I waited months for that appointment, all for nothing. I will choose to spend my time and money with a practice that cares about their customer service experience.

Dr. Moon is by far one of the most professional and efficient dentists I've visited. I highly recommend this place! I actually moved further away from this office but still decided to continue to visit Dr. Moon. I don't have much to add about cost because I just rely on insurance, but I've never had any complaints. Also, I love all the staff, from the front desk to the hygienists. If you can find time with them, make an appointment!

Relocating can be a headache when you think of finding new personal care needs! After a few crappy dentist offices I'm glad to have found this one! I love this practice! The Moon's ( husband and wife) are awesome! The staff Ms. Tracy and DaMarris are beyond sweet and helpful. The office is well maintained and always clean! I love that Dr.

Moon doesn't treat your mouth like a business / insurance claim like some horrid places I've tried out (FLOSS. DENTIQ). Dr. Moon throughly examines you, he's personable and fast! I'm so happy that I found this dentist!

Such nice dentists and hygenists! I was apprehensive going in, since every dentist appointment I've had has left me in a stupor of incompetence. I often feel that I'm not doing as much with my teeth as I should. And, each time I go to the dentist, it's like I'm getting reprimanded as if I were a child. After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place out and ditch my old dentist.

Their kindness was baffling. Truly baffling. The receptionist, the hygienist, and even the dentist were all kind. They didn't sit there and list my flaws, my issues, and taunt me about how my teeth will eventually rot away. They explained X-rays to me! I have NEVER had a dental practice explain X-rays to me! I was able to see exactly where the gum line and bones (teeth) were and what I needed to work on!

Perhaps I'm a visual person, but this little lesson in what the dentist was looking for, going to do, and expect of me was so clear! I had never felt so part of my clean up! This was a fantastic experience, and I'll see them in 6 months!

If I was giving this review based solely on the dentist and hygienist, I'd probably give this review 5 stars, but going to the dentist as we all know is also about scheduling, and scheduling here is a nightmare. Count on minimum 6 months for an appointment and who plans their life 6 months in advance, I certainly don't. I don't know where I'm going to be on a Wednesday 6 months from today.

That being said, I can live with that because that's how all dentists are, it is what it is. However, after rescheduling 3 times (over the course of 10 months), I was finally able to attend and I was 10 minutes (not a minute more) late due to our favorite Houston traffic and the scheduling assistant at the front turned me away. I was absolutely dumbfounded at the lack of flexibility.

I echoed my sentiments about rescheduling and the scheduling assistant drew a hard line in the sand and said "nope sorry, nothing we can do." Before I was about to lose my mind, she offered to get me in at noon (versus my 8 AM appointment). I said ok I might be able to make this so I canceled my morning plans and other appointments to make this noon appointment and she stated she'd call me back in an hour to verify. Sounded reasonable.

I didn't end up getting a call back until 2 PM, by then I had to get on with my life. She tried rescheduling for what I would call a fifth time. Forget about it, I'm taking my business elsewhere as my life does not revolve around my dentist. Good luck scheduling if you have a life.

I was one of those people who would never go to a dentist who didn't provide the nitrous oxide before the dreaded numbing shots, until I met Dr. Moon. In my search for a dentist close to home, I'd already been disappointed by a couple. Certain I'd need to visit a dozen more because I'm so picky, I went to my first appointment at Urban Dental in need of a root canal.

I was absolutely terrified, so when Dr. Moon informed me he doesn't do the gas I was ready to bolt. Amazingly, he was somehow able to coax me into staying (I have NO idea how), but in the end I never felt one bit of pain. Since then, I happily make appointments and never feel nervous or afraid. (That's saying A LOT!) I figured I was doomed to spend the rest of my life terrified of dentist visits. I couldn't be happier and more relieved now that I've found a trustworthy, caring, friendly dentist. Thank you, Dr. Moon!

I love it here! All the staff is amazing, very nice and personable. Dr. Moon is young, down to earth, and makes the going to the dentist experience fun and relaxing. You are instantly greeted by the receptionists to check you in, and they are great with working with your insurance. Be warned, getting an appointment for a cleaning will take months.

Excellent hygienists, never had such a thorough clean! Dr Moon is pragmatic and thorough. It is worth the long wait for your first appointment, and if you are willing to be flexible they can get you in last minute a lot earlier. Once you are in, you will stay! Tracy at the front desk is great, honest, friendly and professional, perfect for the job!

We loved Dr Moon! Past-tense b/c we have moved out of the area. (I thought I had written a year ago, and just realized I didn't). Dr Moon was the second dentist we went to see in the area after a bad experience with another nearby dentist (you can find my review of them, too). THIS OFFICE AND DOCTOR ARE AMAZING! Great customer service, great bedside manner (of the dentist), great office vibe. Dr Moon is very conservative with dental work, and will only drill when he believes absolutely necessary.

Not pushy at all with dental work, and very knowledgable. I had questions about my TMJ, and he gave a great (verbal) outline of what he thought should happen for treatment. Highly recommend him for your dental needs.

The reviews are true. Urban Dental is 5-stars all the way. I hadn't been to the dentist in longer than I'd like to admit. But the staff - from the receptionists to the dental hygienists to Dr. Moon himself - were all friendly, thorough and informative. And they did not up-sell one bit. I was concerned about my still-there wisdom teeth, the possibility of braces and questionable cavities.

But Dr. Moon insisted it wasn't necessary since I take good care of my grill. Woot. If you're looking for a new dentist, call Urban Dental now. They book up months in advance. I called early November and wasn't able to get an appointment til late January 2013. However, I was placed on the wait-list and they squeezed me in just two days after my phone call. I was lucky. So I wouldn't expect something like this to happen again, so I was sure to book my next cleaning when I was there.

Wow, the best dentist I've ever had! I don't hate going to the dentist, but somehow it fell through the crack when I got married and moved from Chicago to Houston. I also travel a lot for work, so I usually can't plan ahead when I'll be in town and available for an appointment. On a recent Tuesday, I found myself in town and working from our downtown office. Using my insurance provider's website, I found Dr. Moon.

Of course, I cross-referenced Yelp as well before I gave the office a call. The receptionist with whom I spoke was the most pleasant and patient receptionist I've even encountered. Although nothing was available this week, she set me up with the first available Friday appointment (which was over a month out). I described my travel/work situation, and asked her to please keep me in mind if anything opened up in the next couple of days while I was in town.

Sure enough, not even 15 minutes after I called, the receptionist called me back to let me know that there was an opening the same day for a noon appointment. SCORE! I made my way over to their location in Midtown (the strip mall between Bagby and Brazos at McGowen). Upon entering, I filled out a few new patient forms. At noon, I was escorted back to an exam room where I was met by Dr. Moon's assistant.

She took a quick look at my teeth before taking a full set of x-rays. Once the x-rays were ready, Dr. Moon came in. I was lucky enough on this visit to have Dr. Moon himself do my cleaning. Since it had been a while since my last cleaning, Dr. Moon had to spend some extra time cleaning, but he took it like a champ, all the while explaining everything he was doing. Later, his wife (also a dental hygienist) finished up with my polishing and flossing and handed me a goodie bag on my way out. Dr. Moon and his entire staff are all very friendly, and this was one of my most pleasant dentist visits ever. See ya in December, Dr. Moon!

I have been a patient of Dr. Moon's for many years and he is the best dentist I have ever come across. Not only is he a skilled dentist, but he is very efficient and spends time when needed. The work that he does is always top-notch and the professional suggestions always spot on. I originally came to him for a second opinion from another dentist that basically told me I needed a ton of work.

Whereas the other DDS was trying to pad the bill, Dr. Moon was honest and essentially told me that none of the suggestions that she made were necessary. It was refreshing to see a Dentist that is not only a true professional but also honest. I have been a patient ever since.
