Straight teeth not only look good, but are also important for effective biting, chewing, and speaking. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, thereby increasing not only dental health, but also overall physical health.

It's best for the orthodontist to see children by age 7 to determine whether orthodontic treatment is required, and whether treatment should begin right away or should wait until the child is older. Treatment is not usually started at age 8 unless severe problems exist which will affect the way the teeth or jaws grow.
Cutting-edge technology is used to custom manufacture each aligner for your teeth based on a personalized treatment plan to give you a smile that fits you. Not only are Invisalign aligners nearly invisible and much less noticeable than braces, they are removable and comfortable. Unlike braces, you are able to remove the aligners throughout the day allowing you to eat more of the foods you enjoy and brush and floss as usual.
While the general dentist typically refers children and adults to an orthodontist, you do not need a referral. With or without a referral, Dr. Carter will consult and communicate with your dentist about your diagnosis and treatment. Children, according to the American Association of Orthodontics, should be seen no later than 7 years old but possibly earlier if a problem is detected by a dentist or physician. A complementary exam and consultation at our office will help determine if your child needs treatment at a young age.
Contact us immediately if you are experiencing severe pain or if your orthodontic appliance is broken or is causing pain that you can't take care of yourself. If you have a problem we can't help you with over the phone, we'll then be happy to schedule an appointment during regular office hours or, if necessary, arrange to meet afterhours.

TL;DR: Five stars isn't enough. They deserve dozens and dozens and dozens of stars. I've been going to the same orthodontists since eighth grade. I only have / had a metal retainer on my bottom teeth and only need to pop in about once every two years. Sadly, after 8ish years, my metal retainer popped off. And now that I'm in Salem, I had to find someone new.
I am SO glad I picked here. First, it is the nicest dentist / orthodontist building I have ever been in. Very class, well decorated, it's actually a peaceful place. Second, every single staff member is nice. Genuinely nice. Front desk, the dental assistants, the actual orthodontist, everyone. They were able to put my metal retainer back on quickly, relatively pain free, and easy enough.
This time around, the dang retainer popped off again! Only three months after getting it replaced, I called to see if they would put it back on no charge. They happily agreed and scheduled me as early as next day! I went in today and asked if it would be possible to switch from the permanent metal retainer to the evening plastic retainer. They were more than happy to oblige, and still cover it for me!
I was able to get in, change the plan, have my teeth checked, and new retainer made all in less than an hour. Amazing experience, amazing people. I will recommend this orthodontist to all my Salem peeps forever!

This office is amazing! The staff is fun and light-hearted, the billing department is patient and understanding, the front desk understands a crazy busy life and met my needs every step of the way. Dr Carter wants to get it right, as if every set of teeth are his personal challenge, and that means I was in great hands with my wack mouth! BONUS: after the first year I had less migraines AND jaw pain. He's a mad scientist, and he knows what he's doing!
I paid a little more in this office than maybe others in town but it was worth it for on call staff, the accommodations that would've cost extra somewhere else, and the free consult to start us off. BESIDES. when is the last time your doctor and his entire crew knew your name, your face, AND your chart without staring at a computer screen? There's value in that!
