I would also recommend finding another dentist. Like another reviewer wrote, there was no greeting or introduction. Eventually my name got called and the dental hygienist began cleaning my teeth with a hand pick, which caused a lot of pain. I asked her why she didn't use the high-speed electric pick and she said they use both--she then switched, but it still took her an hour and ten minutes.

But the heart of my review centers on my encounter with the dentist. He came rushing in, barely introduced himself, and without either asking me to open my mouth or sanitize his hands, he thrust a finger into the side of my mouth to indicate a tooth he wanted to discuss. Again, he did NOT use gloves, or sanitize his hands. He was rough, rude and unprofessional.

I asked him a question and he once again jabbed a finger into my mouth without the courtesy of asking. I got a set of x-rays, (upper and lower), a cleaning and a brief and unpleasant encounter with a dentist for the price of $464. If you care about your dignity, time and money, I would definitely recommend avoiding this practice.

Please don't get your wisdom teeth removed here. I got my procedure done here almost a year ago, and half of my tongue is still partially numb. There must be some nerve damage because I also get random sharp tingly pains in my face and teeth. I suspect that something went wrong during the procedure, because the Dr. started yelling at her assistant some time near the middle or the end - they were talking in Vietnamese, so I don't know what was said.

Before the surgery, I got an X-ray taken, but Dr. Lu did not inform me that there was a nerve close to one of my wisdom teeth - I found that out from another dentist, later. I highly regret getting the surgery, and if I had known that there was a nerve so close to my tooth, I would have at least had a chance to fully consider the risks. Finally, I hardly got any explanation during and after the procedure as to what had happened. Seeing the previous poster say that they also had a bad procedure, I felt that I had to post this.

Super bad I don't recommend it they told me they knew how to remove wisdom teeth and they did a bad procedure and they couldn't remove the wisdom tooth what they did was hurt me and damage my gum in the area where they worked on me now I have to deal with that discomfort and I don't know if I went back to normal

I would recommend a different dentist. My experience felt rushed and 'odd' for lack of a better word. There were two persons in the office working. At no point was I greeted. No one introduced them formally as "Dr" It was difficult to communicate with the Dental Hygienist. I was scheduled for a cleaning that felt rushed and inadequate in terms of thoroughness, being in the chair for maybe 10 minutes top.

I was then told my X-rays revealed several cavities and asked if I would like to take care of them at that moment. I declined. I called the next day to request a copy of my x-rays so I could get a consult covered with a different, more professional Dentist. I took a moment to kindly explain my complaint to the Dentist, and was simply told "okay." I'm surprised to write this after reading the wonderful reviews of the same dentist and office. I would recommend another dentistry office.

I know how detrimental a Yelp review can be for a business, thus the reason why I'm leaving a decent review. However, you may need to retrain your front desk receptionist. Her dismissive attitude is horrible. Even under a different insurance that their office "accepts" I'd never give them another chance because of her. Your receptionist is the first person of contact you deal and thanks to her I've left with a horrible taste in my mouth.

Careless service, looks over busy, no talks no explination, no report on what is done and whats next.

Apparently they are NOT accepting "NEW MEMBERS" when i called to make a dental appointment. called because of the reviews and location.

Dr Lu had been a wonderful dentist for myself and my husband for over 8 years. Very nice care and always willing to accommodate our schedule for appointments.

You basically have to diagnose yourself and tell her whats wrong, she doesn't ask questions or really investigate anything. Every other dentist I've had has always been proactive with my care and asked me about my dental health. I don't know if I have cavities or not since the last time I went in for a cleaning. I had no say in the last procedure I had done, I had options but she just wouldn't talk to me when I asked her about it.

She just stared awkwardly until I abided and let her work. No discussion of my treatment options. Bottom line, go somewhere else. This lady doesn't want to take the time with her patients.

I've seen 3 different doctors at Dental Care of Alexandria and I've liked them all. The hygienists are awesome, and the office staff are the nicest I've ever encountered at a medical office. Before coming to this practice 4 years ago, I was going to a very expensive dental practice, and before that, a different expensive dental practice, and I thought it was normal to pay hundreds of dollars after insurance. Well, guess what? It's not normal!

I think between my husband, daughter, and me, we've paid maybe $100 in the last 4 years, and that was only because my husband hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years and needed a ton of work done. Besides the fact that I've received excellent care at this office, the best part is that no one there is pushy like at other dental offices.

If you say you don't want fluoride, no one is going to push you into it. I told the hygienist I was thinking about getting my teeth whitened and she actually talked me into trying other options first! I couldn't believe it. It's refreshing when someone is more interested in your health than in making money.

My entire family has been seeing Dr Lu for close to 8 years. She has been a wonderful dentist for us and was very effective at getting our kids to relax in her dental chair, which is no small feat. If you would like a quality local dentist who takes the time to get to know her patients and to explain treatment options, then we highly recommend Dr Lu. And her Saturday hours have been very convenient.

Wonderful care and great with our entire family. Dr. Lu has been our dentist for years and we would highly recommend her and her team. About 2 years ago she saw us the same day when we had a dental emergency, which was a life saver. We can't thank her enough.

I agree with the previoius wiriters that I had a bad experience at this dentist office. The Dr. is trying to do everything herself from billing to doing dentsit work. She tried to over charge me, but when I called my inusrace she quickly reinbursed me the differece. She is insenstive to patients anxienty when they go to a dentist and she is not gentle whith her touches. She acts like she doesn't enjou being a dentist. I switched to another dentist now.

I called to go here for emergency dental care. When I got to the office, it was very clear this office was only interested in making money, and wouldn't treat me unless I agreed to come back multiple times. Thanks, I have my own dentist, I told them, and they continued to push the issue.
