Pediatric dentists and their staffs have special training in using a variety of nonpharmacologic (no medication) approaches to help your child have a positive dental experience. For example, we will use positive reinforcement to help guide your child's behavior with verbal praise and rewards for being a good helper.
The first step begins at home, with you. We would like to offer a few suggestions that will ensure that your child's first visit with us will be a positive experience for him/her. We suggest that you speak very positive and excited about their first visit and explain that we will be "counting and shining" their teeth and we may need to "take pictures" of their teeth. Tell them that they will get to watch cartoons, play video games, and will even receive a new toothbrush and prize for "big helpers".
We are one of the first and few dental offices in Arizona to offer this revolutionary treatment option for the management of tooth decay. Silver Diamine Fluoride is an antimicrobial liquid that is able to treat cavities in a non-invasive, fast, affordable, and painless manner. Some patients who have active tooth decay may be eligible for an alternative treatment that uses Silver Diamine Fluoride.
MI Paste from GC America is a remineralizing toothpaste with Recaldent, derived from milk protein, which delivers the essential minerals calcium and phosphate back into your enamel. MI Paste is not toothpaste, but rather a treatment for enamel that is applied to the teeth after routine brushing and flossing.

Do NOT bring your kids here! My daughter has not been here in a couple years due to covid and some personal reasons. I called to make her an appointment and I have never been so disrespected, the office manager is rude and has absolutely no customer service! She told me since my daughter's chart is considered inactive and because she just turned 15 that they will not take her and she needs to go to another office!
We've been going to this office since my duaghter was a baby! My daughter is still a CHILD, and this is a pediatric dentist office!? How inconvenient, covid is a real thing out there, and if you take a break from this office they'll cut you off, IN A VERY RUDE MANNER! No apologies for the inconvenience, instead she hung up on me! Ridiculous! If you are not good with people, customer service or do not like your job, quit! How did she even make it to management?

Highly recommend this dental office. They use the Smart Hall Crown technique which is minimally invasive. Unfortunately my son was no longer a candidate for it. This is the first dental office that was able to get x-rays of my sons teeth. Everyone was kind and courteous. The office is located where there is ample parking which is always nice.

I sincerely couldn't be more impressed by a dental facility. Everyone in the office is incredibly warm and friendly. No toddler likes to poked and prodded so my daughter screams her little head off any time we go in but this staff is so accommodating and patient. I was blown away today when the dentist heard me speak Spanish to my daughter she didn't miss a beat and told my daughter "oh you speak Spanish!" And began to sing to my daughter in Spanish.
I'd never seen my daughter be calmed by anyone but myself or my husband. Needless to say it's nice to see when others embrace different cultures and languages and while I don't expect it every time or everywhere, it was especially nice to see in a medical/dental setting. That interaction was so heartwarming for me but also she took the time to go over concerns and even gave me some tips and tricks for helping my toddler with dental hygiene and she always walks out with her little goodie bag which is also a nice touch.

Special Needs child Review: I understand my child is extremely difficult compared most children. But they are listed as Special needs dentistry. My child has severe teeth problems because he hates to have his teeth brushed and it's a very difficult task to do, and flossing is impossible. But when I requested X Rays to be done they refused to ATTEMPT TO EVEN TRY!
Two separate screenings and absolutely no attempt to try to xray a child with probably multiple cavities. They only gave me excuses on why they don't think they can. I brought him in before my 2nd screening because I noticed his back tooth wasn't looking good ( he had previously had a cavity protective coating put on, by them) They had difficulty seeing anything and told me it was just the cavity coating making it look that way and to come back for his next exam.
When i got home I took a better look and felt like there was more wrong with it but just went with what they said. Now my son has an absess on that tooth that needs to be removed and they had to refer me to an another special needs dentist. Now i have to do the terrible process and start all overall over again. This new dentist seems great. Happy to attempt to get xrays for my son. Hopefully all will go well and this can be my new dentist.
I really wished I pressed more for them to get a better look at the tooth before it became an absess. So upset we have to go through all of this and that my son has to suffer with tooth pain waiting to start this new process with the reffered dentist.

Our family loves and highly recommends this dental team! My 3 kids have come here +5 years. Dr. MacClean is a gem and I am so grateful for how she helped my daughter come to enjoy her dental visits! After trying several other Pediatric dentists, I knew I could finally call this "home", and they cared for my kids. They allow parents to have options, (most places didn't) and didn't push unnecessary harsh treatments. I also love that they share about a gentle treatment option called SDF. I am disappointed with this office. I missed 2 appointments and that is on me, but I was able to get one of my children in. I explained to their office manager what happened and that this has never happened to me before. I even offered to pay a fee for the missed appointment because I did not want to find a new dentist. But they decided to dismiss us. That is totally within their right but I think it stinks. Sometimes life happens. Thanks for the understanding. I am disappointed.

I can not speak highly enough about Affiliated Children's Dental Specialists! My 6 year old went through a horrible experience at an office in NW Peoria and he was deathly afraid to go to the dentist again. In fact, he didn't want to get out of the car or the door to the office when we arrived. He was crying in fear. The whole staff knew about our prior experience and spent almost 1-1/2 hours with us working to make him more comfortable.
By the end of our visit my son was sitting in the dentist chair allowing Dr. MacLean to do some minor cleaning. This was a huge baby step for us and he has already said that he would like to go back. Both the doctor and the hygienist were absolutely amazing and patient and I am beyond grateful for them. For the past 6 months my son and I have dreaded this appointment and they worked with us to make it a very positive experience. I highly recommend Dr. MacLean and her staff!

I am so thankful to have found a place like Affiliated Children's Dental. Their office is warm and inviting. Everyone is so genuine, and they truly get to know you and your family. My daughter LOVES coming to the dentist because they have provided such a wonderful experience for her from the start. I was unsure of what to expect as my son has had a bad experience with a dentist before, but I left knowing that my kids smiles will be in the best hands with Dr. Jeanette. Dr. Jeanette was aware of my son's past experience and made sure to gain my son's trust, being patient and caring with him. The atmosphere of the office had the kids in awe, and the genuinely happy staff made it an amazing experience! When it was time to leave, the kids gave their two thumbs up and were all smiles. (even my son, who was scared and didn't want to go!)
