Dr. Jay J. Harris is a pediatric dentist in Newark, DE who specializes in providing quality dental care to children. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and then completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at Temple University.

Pediatric dentistry (formerly Pedodontics/Paedodontics) primarily focuses on children from birth through adolescence. The American Dental Association (ADA), recognizes pediatric dentistry as a specialty, and therefore requires dentists to undertake two or three years of additional training after completing a general dentistry degree.

If you like a dentist that's truly rude and impatient with children take them here my son was upset when pulling in and realizing it was this dentist I thought he was just being a kid about going to the dentist we were there to have a filling fixed that they done.he told me the dentist is mean we'll I found out personally he was right the dentist is the rudest woman I have ever met and should not be a children's dentist.oh also the filling fell out again before we pulled out of the parking lot when I went back in to tell her she told me that's to bad there's nothing I can do I don't have time to waste completely rude and has no people skills or dentist skills either.do not go here it's not worth it I will be finding another dentist for my 3 children I suggested you do the same take it from me

If I could give 0 stars I would. Cathy was impatient, dismissive, and overall the worst medical professional I've ever met. My two daughters are physically hurt from her impatient actions. When I asked why she acted that way she insisted my kids were the issue. My five year old have a swollen lip because of you Cathy. She will handle your children like objects. It's disgusting the way this was handled. Honestly the staff is amazing, the dentist however are not.

This is the best pediatric dentist office. The staff are amazing with children, especially ornery little ones who have a harder time following instructions. They also promote independence. My son loves this office. He actually had an appointment today 3/23, and the hygenist and front office staff were joking with him and embracing him, which ensured a smooth visit.
They also give the kids little toys which is always a great incentive. Definitely worth the drive from lower Delaware. Thank you for loving your job and embracing my little one.

I've been taking my son here for his entire life and they have always amazing no matter the situation and now my daughter is the patient to I would highly recommend this place every single staff member is compassionate and sweet and funny and if your kid freaks out they don't look at you like they're judging you they don't make you feel bad about it they help you figure out how to make it work it's one of the most amazing Pediatric Health Care Facilities I've ever come across and Dentistry can be so scary for kids and they make it fun

My one child is getting older (16 to19)and said she feel they don't like her coming there anymore, broke my heart! This is the second time she has told me she feels in the way when she comes there! Please do better with your older kids or stop at a certain age and refer them out! I hope Dr Harris( wife n husband)see this, my son is 8 his experience seems to be better! WE ARENT OVERLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE BY THE WAY!

My son needed to have dental work done in which he was put to sleep for the procedure that would be performed at a different location and the doctor only goes to this spot once a month. I showed up for the appointment about 30 minutes prior so I had adequate time to complete any necessary paperwork before he was seen. I sat in the office for over 3 hours before I was told that they would not be able to see me that day, that I had to call and reschedule.
I got a new date to come in, showed up for that appointment, and was seen, but they did a horrible job on my son's mouth. My son has complained more about his mouth after this place did their work on him than ever before. It looks like they used adult-sized caps in his back teeth that were hurting his gums but eventually fell out. This place is horrible and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

They always are on time for taking patients back based at their appt time. Don't be too late at this place though because they will let you know you need to be on time. But this expected if they are staying true to their patients' appt times. You will not get much if any cell signal in their office but they do offer free Wifi if you ask them for the password.
The waiting room is decorated nicely. They have two xbox 360s stations setup BUT the systems have never worked for as long as I have been coming here. IDK why they do not get these things fixed. The seating in the waiting room, I would say, is the most uncomfortable seating I have ever sat on. They have bench seating setup against the windows with a cross bar against the windows which makes the seating area not deep enough so you feel like you have a foot in your back the whole time.
If you want my advice, wait in your car for your kids to get done with their appt. The staff and doctor are very nice and friendly. I would recommend them for dental and ortho work.

This practice is all about milking all the money they can. They do not want the parent to be an advocate or ask questions about their child's care. Parents are not allowed back with their child- cannot see what is being done. They push xrays every 6 months, even for babies but since insurance will cover it, they push and push and if you say no they repeatedly question your excuse.
Staff are very rude and seem uneducated. They practically push you out the door after they get what they want. Cleaning is over in less than 5 minutes which is VERY suspicious. Submitted charges to my insurance company for procedures that were not done. They will do anything they can get away with for $$$. Recommended $500 sealants for a toddler. Ridiculous.
A friend's older child went and said they did not clean his teeth well at all. They probably do this on purpose so the child will get cavities and they can get even more money out of them. Horrible practice- don't let the fancy new office and murals fool you- this was probably all paid for with falsely submitted claims. Beware.

Very horrible place! My son who has Asperger's and Sensory Issues was made to feel ashamed! He has NEVER been a problem at any other dentist office! He was yelping in pain and NOT screaming with two spaces where he lost baby teeth and the dental hygienist was making him bleed, he had blood splattered all over his mouth, nose, clothes, hands, and was crying!
He was waving his hands he was in such much pain, but, not striking any one and had told the hygienist he was on severe pain and she did nothing! Instead I was told my son had to be institutionalized during dental care, and was also accused by the hygienist of being released from the last dentist because of her issues with him! These people should not be treating children with special needs! Dr Jay Harris also told me that my son is more of problem than most of his patients with Asperger's!
I even offered to come at another time! He said this in front of the whole office and with my innocent son present listening to this! my son has sores on the side of his mouth, in his mouth, and in his gums! Despicable place!
