Massachusetts Dental Hygenists

Today's Massachusetts dental hygienists are endeavoring to do much the same thing in a different time and place. We have more concern for the general health of our patients and not just their oral health. As dental hygienists in the 21st century we are also concerned with OSHA standards; with new technologies; and with increasing our political knowledge and clout to assist the profession of dental hygiene in serving the public's oral health and total health needs.The Massachusetts Dental Hygienists' Association is part of the American Dental Hygienists' Association and has representation on their Board of Trustees through the District One Trustee.

PAC or political action committee is an organization that enables people to participate in the political process at the local, state and federal levels by supporting issues and candidates for public office and by lobbying elected officials. Political action committees were first formed in the 1940's.

PHDHs are hygienists that meet the needs for groups such as low income children, pregnant women, elders, and persons who are developmentally, physically, mentally or medically compromised. We are available to host a dental hygienist that needs to complete the 6 hours of hands-on experience in a public health setting requirement to become a PHDH. Continuing education course requirements to become a PHDH must be met prior to completing these hours. We are not available at this time to host a dental hygienist that needs to complete the 6 hours of hands-on experience in a public health setting requirement to become a PHDH.
