I've made an account but unable to login to their website. I also went to check their provider list and zero dentists are on that list. Came here to see if others experienced the same thing only to find consistent horrible reviews. I hope my new employer can ditch dental select and sign up for a legitimate business

How is this company still in business? Why does it take more than an hour on hold to reach anyone? BTW I actually haven't reached anyone, because who has time in a dental office to hold that long? I tried to contact them on FB. They had the nerve to tell me to email them for urgent matters as its quicker, guess what that was 3 days ago and still no response.
I'd like to actually know what they consider urgent. Pair that with not paying claims for months because they can't find them in the system, the website is a joke. The insurance is a joke.

As a Dental professional, this company is by far the worst to deal with. FIX YOUR AUTOMATED SYSTEM ALREADY. Dental Select, do you even have a plan to fix this ongoing issue? It has been down for over 6 months at this point. Having to wait 1 hour+ just to get assistance is ridiculous. Even their own employees are not surprised by their continuous issues.

Submitted a claim with all the requested information, the agent could not "read" the CPT code and said it wasn't real (they said the D looked like a 0). I called and pointed out that all CPT codes for dental start with D and they said "sorry, you have to resubmit it, we can't edit a denied claim". Worked with a customer service rep, Cynthia to help get it resubmitted.
She said to email it to her for processing. Emailed it and I had left something blank, no worries. I refill it out and submit it now a third time - a month later it still wasn't submitted and now after switching jobs I can't submit it because their employees don't care about helping people.

Before even signing up for the plan, I inquired about rates and fees of what would be covered or not. They sent me a confusing list of numbers and figures, none of which made any sense since I hadn't had any prior dental needs. It's been a nightmare trying to figure out what the policy will cover and what it won't cover. Today, the receptionist at our dentist office expressed frustration with Dental Select specifically.
She said it's the most difficult and confusing of all the insurance companies to work with. When someone who works with insurance companies all the time thinks they are not good to work with compared to other companies, it tells me all I need to know.

I paid them premiums for 6 years for absolutely no reason. I realize this was my bad but I kept having my dentist send in claims and they wouldn't even pay a $5 claim! I kept getting them confused with my old employer plan (select health and delta dental). In the end they told me "too bad" that I was the one who didn't cancel the plan even though they stopped offering the discount plan I was paying for years ago they "grandfathered" me into a plan that was of no benefit to me and that they didn't offer anymore (probably for that exact reason)!
I get that I should have taken the time to cancel the plan, but I genuinely didn't know who it was through and kept getting confused because they would never pay out on any claims. I've spent roughly $600 on premiums for absolutely no benefit. And now even though I contacted them as instructed to cancel my plan they still took my premium out this month! I'm floored, what happened to providing service and value to a customer? I'm tempted to file a small claims court claim for my premium cost. We will see how that goes.

Dental Select does the very least possible, and sends checks to the patient to have to then turn around and pay their dental office instead of the insurance doing their job and paying the offices directly. They'll state their reasoning for sending checks directly to the patient is due to being "unable to reach the dental office" but yet send within weeks of a procedure being done, which means if they are even reaching out to the dental office, they aren't waiting for any response. Very poor business procedures!

This place is a scam. I handed in my termination in person to their office and they have been charging me monthly for the last year and they said I never terminated my coverage. I did it in person! They won't refund me. They don't accept any forms to cancel terms. How is this even legal. You're a scam and this is fraud. I will report you to every possible outlet I can. REFUND MY MONEY!

I had dental work done almost 7 years ago. The dentist's office told me they could bill my insurance. Lo and behold, seven years later, I am being taken to collections and now being asked to pay lawyer fees because this less-than-professional company, as well as the incompetence of the dentist office billing persons, couldn't or wouldn't process my claims correctly. Dental Select is very difficult to get ahold of to get answers and takes months to respond back. Buyer beware!

A request to all the employers and employees. Please do not try to sign up with dental select as they say they cover medically needed procedures, but their policy is to first deny every procedure and try to make money for themselves. crooks. You will be doing a great disservice to your employees by signing up. Anyone using this insurance goes to a dentist will end up paying pretty much everything out of pocket as they deny 80% of procedures and cover only exam and xrays. BeWARE OF THIS SCAM.

This company is the worst. I called in to see what they would pay vs out of pocket and ever since I filed the claim both the dentist and I have been getting the run around to get them to pay out what they are responsible for. Been dealing with them on 1 claim for over 2 months now. We are still getting the run around d even after the denist got a manager involved.
Now they say there is nothing on their end about the conversation with the manager and claims the dentist is still in network and the dentist is getting the run around trying to confirm they have been removed from their provider list. Save the headache with these guys. This is frustrating.

Dental Select used to be a good company. However, much has changed. They now use P&R Dental Strategies to review patient's dental procedures and then they routinely deny all benefits. Look up P&R Dental Strategies and you will see a long list of complaints about their practices. This is really a horrible unethical practice. It causes patients to appeal decisions and wait, while having to pay their dentist out of pocket.
In my opinion, why have dental insurance if it is automatically denied, as is their practice. Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere. Ask your dentist who the reputable insurance providers are and I am sure you will not hear Dental Select's name.

If I could give no stars, I would. This insurance rarely answers their phones in under 30 minutes and finally after 30 minutes you get an answer like, oh that system is down please call back in a few hours or sorry we are in a meeting. I will not even get into how their coverage is horrible and all the excuses not to cover procedures when they say they will. Then the amounts they pay, no wonder so many dentists don't take Dental Select.

Don't get sucked into this company, they are HORRIBLE, pay for nothing. I had to prove I had had insurance up until this year and waiting periods would be waved, didn't happen. Just the act of calling them.at least a one hour wait, every.single.time. don't waste your money, because in the end, you will pay for everything anyway. Todays quote when I called to cancel "You'll have to somehow block us or change your bank account, otherwise we will continue to auto bill to your banking account" Unbelievably dishonest.

Terrible customer service. Web portal does not allow access to my plan. Tried to speak with an agent and just put on hold over 30 minutes. Contacted via email and no reply. Two weeks later. Can't log in at all, on hold over 40 minutes with NO answer. While on hold I tried live chat and NO agent ever responded. They do not cover the correct % my plan call for and there is no way to reach them. Do not use this company!

I am writing from a dental provider's office perspective. The customer service department is one of the worst - I deal with insurance reps on the phone all day long and I hate when I must call this company. When I simply call to check status on a claim, I get frustrated annoyed voices on the other end. On one instance, we received a check without corresponding EOB.
When I called to request the EOB, the lady on the phone said they already sent it with check and would not send it again. I said "really?" and then she backed up and said she'll sent it today "if" she has time. It's actually stunning to see how brazen they are speaking to a provider's office the way they do. There is little respect.
They must not have anyone reviewing their calls. Further, when I called the corporate office intending to make a complaint on two individuals on two separate days - the operator is not available on both days (just a voicemail). There is also no email to send to report such behavior. I went to the portal, read all about the new atmosphere in their new corporate headquarters and even watched the clip from the CEO.It's really sad because some of their employees are creating a huge negative problem for their own company. I hope someone from corporate Dental Select reads this and takes appropriate action.

I didn't expect them to pay for all porcelain crowns when I chipped a tooth but I assumed they would have paid some portion at a minimum. I called the customer service line and the person had no access to my claim and to me to have my Dentist call them directly. It has been nine months and I paid the pull balance to my Dentist who also lost time and was run around by Dental Select. I guess you get what you pay for and cheap can become expensive.

What a terrible crooked rip off of an insurance company. I am a teacher for Granite School District so unfortunately Dental Select is my only option for dental insurance. To bad they won't actually cover anything I need done. They are denying my claim for a medically necessary procedure. They are denying it because I had it done previously in 2016.
Guess what, I paid for it out of pocket in 2016. They denied the claim them stating that it had not been 24 months since the prior procedure. So I paid for it myself. Common sense would be that insurance would cover it next time but nope. They are denying me. This is so ridiculous. This insurance company is corporate greed at its worst. What is the point of paying for insurance if they never cover anything I need. Terrible, awful, the very worst!

I have been with dental select for three months, trying to find a dentist is outrageous no one accepts this insurance and then when I find a dentist and try to have procedures done i then find out that nothing is covered due to a waiting period that i never knew about. I never received any insurance packet containing any explanation of benefits or any insurance card to prove i have any type of insurance.
This is complete garbage that this is going on you can take money from a disabled person and let them think that they can go to the dentist and get work done when in the long run they are screwing you out of everything.

My wife works for Jordan School District. She had dentures that are about 7 years old and that needed to be replaced. Their Dental Select rep promised a 20% discount on implants and a $1000 benefit for the dentures. We call twice to confirm yes we where told. When we proceed to have implants we were told we had to wait a year. After a year we found out the 20% discount is more than the cash price for implants.
They inflate the cost then take off the discount which is more than the cash price. We paid cash. Then Dental Select refused to pay for the dentures because they are anchored to implants. So what does it matter glue paste or implants to hold them in? Either way they are removable. But we get a 20% discount which again is inflated. Just as well pay cash.
It will be 3 years we have paid for coverage.about $1400. No benefits only promises not kept. We are out $1400 and still have to pay for my wife's dentures and no 20% discount. Another big insurance company not keeping promises but wanting to collect premiums.
