From as early as she could remember, Dr. Felicia Goins wanted to work in children's dentistry. So, after completing her residency in pediatric dentistry in 1985, Dr. Goins founded Carolina Children's Dentistry in Sumter, SC. She established the practice because she realized that there was a need for children to receive the best dental care in the state, especially in those rural areas where there are not many dentists practicing. She practiced solo for almost 13 years before Dr. Lisbeth Poag joined her in 1998.

Jenny has been a hygienist with Carolina Children's Dentistry for over 20 years. She enjoys educating children on proper dental care on a level they can understand, all while having fun. The most important and challenging part of her day is establishing a relationship and developing trust with each child.
We look forward to making each visit to Carolina Children's Dentistry a special one for you and your child. During your child's first visit, you will start with a private, one-on-one consultation in our New Patient Room. This special room is set aside for our new patients so that your child's first appointment will be a special occasion, and it provides an opportunity for individual interaction among you, your child, the dental assistant, dental hygienist and dentist.The Dentist and dental assistant will review your child's complete medical and dental history.
After feeding your baby, wipe their gums with a washcloth to remove any extra milk. This will stimulate their gums, remove any extra particles, and get them used to the sensation of brushing early. This will also make it easier when you introduce brushing later. We have specialized finger-sized cloths that make this process easier.

Took my son for his first dentist visit ever (he was scared to death) and the office and staff definitely put this Mama heart of mine at ease! Some of the most considerate and kind hearted staffing I've seen! They took care of his every need! From x-rays down to taking the extra time to reassure him that he was safe and in good hands! The dentist did not touch him until he got my son in a calm and comfortable state of mind! We've only been once so far but that visit alone was enough for 5 stars! Definitely recommend!

I have never been this excited to write a review. First thing first, the process of doing paperwork through the portal and checking in through the portal was SEAMLESS! Once we actually got there, I was so impressed by how gentle, gracious, careful, and accommodating everyone was. Our baby boy was scared but the dental hygienist was so amazing and took the time to show him how all the tools worked. They also allowed him to sit in our laps and lean back so he wold be comfortable and calm. I am so grateful for the whole staff!

Our 4 year old had a lot of issues at other practices, but during our visit there she was put under for an extraction, and it went perfectly smooth. The staff did exactly what they said they were going to, communication was awesome the Doctors were amazing, it was painless for our daughter and us as parents.

Very friendly and professional. No long waits. They get you in and out. You can tell they take pride in being clean and sanitary. They make sure children and their parents are comfortable. My son suffers from anxiety so sometimes he questions everything from tools they use to how they use them. They are very patient and have no problems with answering his many questions.

Today my 2 year old son had his first dentist appointment and he had a fabulous experience. COVID-precaution check in was easy right off the bat. Our tech was so patient with him and an absolute rockstar at providing him with a secure and fun first time cleaning appointment. As a mom with a background of horrible experiences at the dentist as a child, I was hoping for him to make positive memories. These talented people made my wishes come true.

I am horrible with names, but my daughters dentist is an angel! My daughter is 7 and had her first cavity filled there and the dentist made her very comfortable. My daughter was very nervous and it went away when her dentist came in and talked to her like a family member. We always feel so welcome when we go in and everyone takes the proper precautions during Covid to make sure we are all safe. I highly recommend bringing your child here for any dental work.

Carolina Children's Dentistry has been amazing from the very first dentist visit with my toddler, to now with my now 11 & 8 year old. I'm so thankful for every staff member that has made my children comfortable, and firmly believe it's because of this establishment that my children have zero anxiety when it comes to dentist appts.

Every staff member we encountered from the time we walked in until the time we left was very pleasant and attentive. They took the time to make sure my toddler was comfortable and at ease. I was very pleased with the way they interacted with her and the responses she gave back to them. Both my toddler and I were all smiles upon our departure.

We are new to town and I have been so pleased with their willingness to help us get dental work done for our son. Mimi was great at explaining the whole process and the rest of the staff has been so kind! Update: My son had his appointment today. There were many obstacles to get us to this day but let me tell you the staff, especially Mimi, went above and beyond to help our son get the dental work he needed. They were so kind and explained the procedure very well. I cannot rave about them more. Dr. Josh was fantastic! Thank you!
