In addition to my formal training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, I am also involved in three study clubs focusing on comprehensive practice health, TMJ, and Invisalign. Each study club allows a small group of like-minded dentists time to share our successes and failures with an educated group from across the country.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be restored with a filling. They are most commonly done after root canal treatment, or when a large filling wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed.
At Gordon Dental, we accept most PPO dental plans. Each person has a specific insurance plan with specific benefits. It is important for you to know your dental policy while understanding not all services may be considered as a covered benefit with various contracts. We encourage all of our patients to contact their insurance company to find out their "out-of-network" benefits prior to scheduling.
Gordon Dental is located close to the Seaholm District in downtown Austin. We are on the corner of West Avenue and 3rd Street, directly across the street from The Independent on the east side, and True Foods on the south side. As an alternative to paying to park on the street, our patients have FREE access to our building's parking garage.

When my previous dentist retired 13 years ago, a dear friend highly recommended Dr. Gordon. She said he was the best and she was not wrong. On top of being an excellent dentist, he and all of his staff are incredibly kind, compassionate, and helpful. I genuinely look forward to each appointment because it's clear they love their work, care about patients, and are great at connecting with and putting people at ease (they get me laughing every visit) which is not something most people can say about dental visits.

Dr Gordon is great. His staff needs to be recognized as well. Mandi is the best dental assistant i have ever had. She is professional, friendly and 100% on her game every time. Both Jasmin and Sindi who manage the front office couldn't be more friendly or more professional. A++ crew at Dr. Gordon's office.

This is the Best dentist I have ever been to hands down. He worked with me on my unique case and the final results were more than amazing. His staff is warm and friendly as well as professional and well educated when it comes to dental procedures and the processes involved. I will be going to see Dr. Gordon as well as my family. If you are not happy with your current dentist, I would recommend this amazing dental practice. Thank you for everything Dr. Gordon!

Dr. Gordon and his staff are completely amazing! I have been a mom for 5 years now to two wonderful little boys, but noticed that I wasn't taking care of myself like I should, and my teeth have been a big concern. From the time you walk in every member of the staff is so kind and helpful, Dr. Gordon is so thorough and truly cares about the outcome of your dental care and the long term health of your teeth. Big thanks to Dr. Gordon, Sindi, Jasmin, Katie, & Mandi, thank you all for making me feel so comfortable.

Before going to Dr. Gordon, I had been going to the same dentist for over 20 years and I was really happy with my first experience with Dr. Gordon. Great team, really great hygienist and everyone is very very friendly. They didn't try to talk me into procedures or costs that I don't need. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love Dr. Gordon. I had a filling replaced today. He did it with no pain. I didn't even realize when administered the deadening shot. When he was done, my tongue and cheek were not numb like previous experiences. I highly recommend Dr. Gordon and his office for their professionalism, for how fast they are at working, and for them causing no discomfort during procedures.

Dr. Gordon is a nice, likable dentist, but I'd like to warn anyone that is out-of-network and thinking about using his services. In the scheduling process, I was given an estimate of $200 to be paid out-of-pocket for a routine check-up which consisted of x-rays on my first visit and a deep cleaning on the second visit. Fast-forward a few months, and I'm notified that I still owe $500 and the total out-of-pocket costs ended up being north of $700 (which seems ridiculous for routine x-rays and cleaning).
This came as quite a surprise, and I must admit, this may have been my "fresh out of college" naivete to take the estimate that was given to me at face value. Side Note: When their office manager, Sindi, notified me, she included a PDF with a billing statement for another patient, which was quite worrisome. Anyway, after a little back and forth, Dr. Gordon's office did not relent and insisted that I pay the surprise $500 bill.
I was told that insurance providers have "many plans" so the estimated cost actually ranged from $200-$700. Had I been told that up front, there's no way I would have kept my appointments on the schedule. It really is a shame that my pleasant experience with Dr. Gordon and the hygienist on staff has been marred by the handling of my insurance. It's a terrible practice for a business to not fully disclose what the potential costs could be, and after visiting the Texas Dental Board's website, it became clear to me why a dental office would not be incentivized to be completely truthful.
The only complaints that the TSBDE do not have jurisdiction over are fee disputes. So sadly, I imagine offices like Dr. Gordon's will continue to go unchecked on future fee discrepancies.

Dr. Gordon is one of the finest dentists in Austin. As a dental specialist, I have the privilege to work with a number of dentists in town and I can say with confidence that there is not a better dentist in town. Dr. Gordon has excellent clinical skills, his esthetic work is second to none, he is meticulous regarding the work he does, he truly cares about each patient as an individual and he has a great team around him. Dr. Gordon's great bedside manner along with his mastery of his trade will make even the most nervous dental patient feel comfortable and confident in his care. If you are considering Dr. Gordon as a dentist, you will not be disappointed.

We were given Dr. Gordon's name by a periodontist in Austin. My son who is a student at UT, and is under the care of our dentist in Dallas, was wearing a temporary tooth that came out and needed to be bonded back in. My son's experience was beyond wonderful. He said that Dr. Gordon reminded him of a very precise, expert surgeon! His tooth is back in and looks great- on top of it all, he told my son he wasn't going to even charge him! Wow!

This review is long overdue. Austinites- if you are looking for a stellar dentist, look no further. Dr. David Gordon is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. He is thorough, attentive, gentle and an overall a sweet person. All of the hygienists that gave me cleanings always did a thorough cleaning and made me feel very comfortable. In addition, the front desk is extremely helpful. I have moved and they have been timely in getting my x-rays over to several dentists I have considered. Just an all round awesome office!

Dr. Gordon, I have tried other dentist in the past because of insurance changes. I have always gone back to Dr. Gordon because he is a very good diagnostic dentist and his staff is so friendly. I just had a cleaning and I have sensitive teeth. They were gentle with me as always. Than you Dr. Gordon and staff, and happy new year. Thanks Sean Giuliani

I can only speak to the insurance verification process and the office's lack of transparency when I was a new patient signing up for a routine dental exam. Online, the website states "Insurance: As a courtesy to our patients, we accept most major dental insurance plans and will take care of filing primary insurance claims on your behalf. We will always assist you in maximizing your dental benefits." When I was first scheduling an appointment, the office staff collected my insurance info (I have Delta Dental) and I assumed everything was fine.
I received a call a few days later from the office staff who stated I would have to pay up front and out of pocket for my routine cleaning, but Delta Dental would cut a check for me after the visit - I found that strange since I've never had to do that before with any other dentist offices. When I called Delta Dental, sure enough they notified me that Dr. Gordon's office is "completely out of network" meaning he is not contracted with ANY dental insurance.
Upon calling the office back to cancel my appointment, I was told that "oh yes, we are not in network with anyone." I am disappointed that this crucial information was not made more clear and transparent up front, especially since the website information is contradictory.

Well, I will start by mentioning that I am not a fan of dentists, generally speaking, or dental work (across the board). I have had some icky experiences in the past and went through some barbaric orthodontic work as a preteen that left me with a propensity to delay dental visits and feel uncomfortable in the chair. In fact, I think I went almost twelve years without seeing a dentist (sorry Dr. Gordon).
And so, after a not so great experience with another dentist in town and then getting a recommendation from a dental hygienist friend who worked for the dentist I had the not so great experience with, I made an appointment with Dr. Gordon. Initially, I was anxious and not looking forward to the visit at all. But the moment I walked into the office, I was greeted by smiles and welcome and for the entirety of my visit was put at ease by every single person with whom I interacted. Dr. Gordon, himself, was energetic and yet was calm and patient while he was examining me.
He was careful and.hilarious. We ended up laughing our way through the appointment and have enjoyed an easy and comfortable banter for every appointment since. Imagine: a person who shies away from any dental work committing to the long haul that is involved with the Invisalign system, several cleanings, a root canal that became necessary after a tooth related injury, and lots of check up appointments!
I am convinced my ability to do any of this is directly related to Dr. Gordon, his professional and kind staff, and the quality of care they provide. I highly recommend Dr. Gordon and am thrilled to have finally found a dentist who I look forward to visiting.

My wife and I have been visiting Dr. Gordon for the last 3 years and absolutely love their staff and facilities. They are super friendly, gentle with our mouths, knowledgeable, and overall just good people. I've referred co-workers here (including my boss) and all have echoed our feelings about Dr. Gordon and his staff.

My husband went to Dr Gordon for some work to be done last year on 4/19. Nice guy, nice office. BUT my husband was convinced it was "important for his health" to get a Saliva Test done -- I've been told by several people since then this is just a $$ add-on to make more money in the practice -- this is something only an MD should be doing. And, besides the fact that he never told my husband that it was $175, that was what he was charged for "Analysis of Saliva Sample" when he left.
It was alrleady done, so he paid it. They billed the insurance $175. (Which they won't pay because it's coded as a MEDICAL expense.) End of story, right? No. On 4/30 they send out another statement from the dentist's office that now reads "$135 Analysis of Saliva Sample" AND "$135 Collection of saliva sample"!? $270. When I called to ask why it went up, all they can say is that it must have been wrong on the paperwork as it came in from the hygenist.
They did, however BILL INSURANCE AGAIN for $270! AND they have no record of "why I paid $175?" because their records all say $135 x 2 now. Shame shame. Such slight of hand has lost our business. There are MANY great dentists in Austin who bill you once & are happy when you pay in full. They don't change their records and come after you for more. STAY AWAY from this office -- AND, if you have already gone, be SURE to keep your original statements & proof of payment so you can make sure they don't do the same thing to you.

Dr. Gordon and his staff are the consummate professionals. Everyone is always kind and very responsive to my needs. They helped me navigate a long and complicated dental procedure with excellent results. Additionally, the equipment and technology are top of the line. I would highly recommend his office to anyone seeking exceptional dental care.

Having moved to ATX recently, I was in need of a new dentist. I actually found Dr. Gordon by simply walking past his office every day to/from the gym. Glad I called! The appointment was oddly enjoyable, and incredibly thorough. Everything from the friendly office staff to the knowledgeable hygienist to Dr. Gordon. It was all great. He's incredibly friendly and takes his time with patients.
I always get nervous that dentists will try to sell me on unnecessary treatments and procedures, and I got a good feeling that Dr. Gordon does not work that way. He is definitely a patient advocate with whom I felt very comfortable So glad to have found Dr. Gordon's practice. Highly recommended.

Going to the dentist is not something I enjoy. (who does, really?) I have always had weak enamel and as a result, bad teeth. To make matters worse, my mouth does not go numb anymore. Everyone in Dr. Gordon's office - from the insurance specialists and the women who greet you when you come in. to the hygenists and the DDS himself. everyone is SO friendly and quick to make me feel comfortable.
I was referred to Dr. Gordon by several of my coworkers who spoke very highly of him. It is not every day that you find so much kindness in one building. I'll never go anywhere else!

Having just moved to the area, I was in the market for a new dentist and boy did I manage to pick a GREAT one! From the scheduling and new patient paperwork to my cleaning and exam, this was hands down one of the best experiences I've had at the dentist. Dr. Gordon's office is very professional, courteous and friendly. The office itself is easy to find, clean and up to date.
I had my cleaning with an easy going hygienist who did an excellent and through job. I have certain teeth that are sensitive when then get cleaned. My hygienist told me this wouldn't be a problem and applied some polishing treatment to the areas before she started cleaning. They do have flat screen TVs above the exam chair so I was able to catch the news and take my mind off the fact that I was sitting in a dental chair. Dr. Gordon is so personable.
He did an exam of my teeth and let me know of certain things to look out for with concerns he has for some of my teeth. We talked about my dental history and he even ended up writing me an RX for another ailment that came up during our conversation. This is strange, but I can't wait to go back again in 6 months for another cleaning!

Dr Gordon was recommended to me because I have such a fear of dentists. He was very gentle, his office a pleasant place and his staff were all very kind and professional. I went to him for general dentistry and also for a root canal. I'm currently wearing "Invisalign" from my orthodontist, and Dr Gordon went to great lengths to be sure that my crown fit my trays.
My previous dentist would do a simple filling, and I would have to have my trays redone. He gave me an overall care plan for my teeth, and I will follow it as I choose and to fit my invisalign schedule. So glad I switched to him. I found NO negatives in my experience at all.

DISCLAIMER: As the son of a dental specialist I tend to expect more flexibility from my dentist and his/her staff. I was referred to Dr. David Gordon by a friend. Dr. Gordon is young, energetic, and retains a professional staff. After leaving my previous dentist because of scheduling issues, I found interacting with Dr. Gordon's administrative staff to be as simple as it should be. Dr. Gordon's office is located in one of the new mixed use buildings downtown, which makes seeing him during a workday very convenient.
His office is well-lit and well-designed. There is free water in the waiting room, and the dental chairs have those TVs (although I was never handed the remote and had to watch 'The View' during my cleaning). As usual, my cleaning and x-rays were handled by a hygienist. She was more nervous and there was more pain than I was used to. The cleaning was thorough.
The x-ray machine had some issues, which required some to be retaken. Dr. Gordon was friendly and professional, and gave a very complete evaluation of my chomps. He was very personable; I learned of his daughter's first cavity, and he asked about my being raised by a dentist. He also has one of the most impressive smiles I've ever seen. I found my bill to be on the low end for a cleaning and complete x-ray set. I will be seeing Dr. Gordon in the future.
