TR Spencer is very knowledgeable, straight to the point, doesn't force you to pay money to ask a few questions, and is willing to fight for you in court. He is in my top recommended attorney's in the valley. He'll be my first call if I'm in a situation that requires an attorney to protect my rights and fight for me. Thank you!

UPDATE- I legally won Terry in a court of law and he didn't get a PENNY! He got the Mr. Jones shaft! He is a horrible human, unethical and cares only about money. He is toxic and a liar! Use ANYONE ELSE BUT TERRY! Terry Spencer is claiming my late husband hired him back in early 2009, he put a lien on my home for $10k without my knowledge, after my husband passed.
My husband an ex-marine fell ill November 2008, ended his life in front of me & Sandy PD end of May. All Terry is concerned with is his money. He has yet to Furnish an agreement signed by my late husband, whom has been dead almost 9 yrs. Just trying to get home out of his name, into mine. When does the spouse in a divorce case pay the other spouses attorneys fees?
Especially after the husband kills himself? How many attorneys would go after the widow and her kids home? Terry Spencer feels it's 100% acceptable to take advantage of a widow for a debt which ins't even hers. He is dark energy & is fine taking what isn't truly his. I am now forced to file in court against him, its debilitating emotionally & physically to dredge up my husbands death. Do not trust this man. I wonder if I were his daughter if he still feel good doing what he is doing to us? Please do not use his services, he isnt a good man.

Spent thousands of dollars on this lawyer within a two month time span and did absolutely nothing to benefit me in getting custody of my little sister. A few times he wasn't aware/prepared for the court hearings and I would have to call and remind him. Most lawyers demand to speak with the judge but he just remained silent. The contract states $150 an hour but really he charges whatever amount he wants. I would ask him to do things such as contact someone or get a list of requirements and I never heard back from him. Very disappointed

Terry and his staff I've been knowing around 15 years not only as an attorney but as a good friend. They make you feel comfortable and give all they have.you can't go wrong with any of them at that office. Terry and staff are good at what they do. Much love to all of them a friend always. Terry Spencer represented me in my highly contested divorce, which included a two day trial. Terry was amazing in the courtroom and ensured I received a fair and successful outcome. He and his team continue to provide me great counsel. I highly recommend Terry Spencer and the entire RR Spencer Law Office team.

I hired Terry Spencer several years ago to represent me in my divorce case. He and his team provided me with superb counsel throughout a very difficult divorce which was contested by my ex-wife. He was professional throughout, always ensuring that he had my best interests at the forefront. I recommend Terry Spencer and will use him in the future. And regarding the review from "Meredith W" from February 15, 2020, the person making these comments is actually "Margaret Wakeham".
She is a former Utah attorney who-according to the Court's Divorce Trial ruling-currently lacks the skill to practice law and has been reduced to working part time in a dog kennel. Further a Vocational Expert, Dr. Kristy Farnsworth, was hired by Mr. Spencer in the Wakeham Divorce case. Contrary to the false statement made by "fake news" Meredith W., the Vocational Expert sided with Mr. Spencer's client causing "fake news" Meredith W to subsequently fly into fits of rage and scream that she is going to appeal the Court's Divorce Trial ruling.
I am aware that Mr. Spencer has taken hundreds upon hundreds of cases to trial. Over the years I found Mr. Spencer to be one of the finest attorneys in Utah - who will stand up for a client even if it means "fake news" reviews from vanquished and understandably angry losing opposing parties.

Terry Spencer has been suspended by the Utah State Bar from practicing! He's a terrible attorney. Unethical. He tried to convince my attorney that there was never a vocational expert hired in our divorce case, but HE had hired one 3 years earlier, and the expert sided against him & his client. He's either a liar or is suffering from dementia.

Terry and his team did great work when I was going through the worst experience of my life. He doesn't sugar coat it and will give it to you straight. Terry and his team will do everything allowed under the law to get the justice you deserve. That's what he did for me and I am grateful to have him in my corner.

When one needs a legal bull dog in their corner to fight for them, you can't go wrong with Terry. When in a legal battle with loved ones the situation gets emotionally charged and mistakes easily made. Terry helped me navigate a very tricky situation. As to others negative reviews.when in a dog fight one needs a bull dog, not a shitzu. Terry has won everytime for me. He doesn't have to be nice, he wins!

Terry has been my attorney for over a year now in my custody case. I wish I would have known about him 5 years ago when I got divorced! He is very patient, very professional and will even come in to work on his days off to help his clients. Terry knows the laws inside and out and I wouldn't trust any other attorney to work my case. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs an attorney! - Clifford

I retained Terry Oct. 25, 2013 with $2,500 and paid him another $2,500 Jan. 2, 2014. Terry severely underrepresented me for over a year. I'm told by another attorney that his objection to my temporary order is badly written. He didn't even attempt to have my exorbitant CS and alimony judgment--$8,000 per month--modified after we discussed it and I delivered one or more paystubs from my new employer to him. Once, in order to obtain clarification on something, when I used the mobile number he'd told me to use any time, he yelled at me, telling me, "GOOGLE IT, STEVE!" He was almost always either condescending, rude, interruptive, and even contemptuous, or any combination of the aforementioned.
He did almost nothing through all of 2014 then jumped into reactive mode over a year after I retained him and only when the Petitioner had to act or her case would be thrown out. When I obtained sufficient funds in Spring of 2015, I retained someone else who informed Terry his "services" would no longer be needed. Then, over a negative yelp.com review, he threatened to sue me for defamation.
I chose to defend my legally recognized, Constitutionally protected, statutorily enforceable liberty to inform others of my negative experiences with Terry, so he filed suit for $100k for for "defamation", "intentional infliction of emotional distress", "intentional interference of economic relations", "declaratory relief", and "breach of contract".
He attached our correspondence from the divorce case to the defamation suit and the judge was forced by his recklessness to have to seal it. In an attempt to manufacture embarrassing situations for me, he subpoenaed the Petitioner (yes, my soon-to-be ex-wife), my new divorce attorney, and, strangely, not someone in Human Resources, but someone in Finance from my employer to whom I'd made a negative comment about him.
He continued to bill me throughout his suit against me, but BEGAN TO BILL ME FOR LINE ITEMS ASSOCIATED WITH SUING ME! And his demands for an out of court settlement bordered on the insane. So as not to leave any doubt about the meritlessness of his claims, the judge dismissed his defamation suit with prejudice. If you insist on retaining him, I strongly suggest you keep yourself in the right, take copious notes, get everything in writing, write memoranda of understanding to him, and keep funds on hand to file suit against him and/or defend yourself against his ridiculous attacks and preserve your First Amendment protected freedom of speech. He's not helpful. He's not honest. He's not ethical.

I read all the previous reviews in Yelp about Terry Spencer and I say "Yes, thats Terry Spencer they are talking about". Just like with Lisa and Steve he send me a court document via email, that he never filed in court, to harass me so I delete my previous post on Yelp. Apparently he has that document ready for anyone that give him a bad review. I called an attorney at the state bar and they told me I can sue him for misconduct based on how bad he deal with my case and for harassing me with documents that were never filed.
He did a terrible work with our case. He did not reply phone calls, he did not notify us about hearings or document that needed to be filed. He went to court completely unprepared and his bill grow exponentially without explanation. Just like the previous review he continue billing me after the case was done for things that he has not done for me!
He treat me like I was less than him and it was always obvious he did not care about my case. Google him and go to the Utah State Bar and Idaho State Bar to request his file before you decide to hire him. Notice that in Avvo.com that there is a note that he has been discipline by a state licensing authority! If all this bad reviews in yelp are not a red flag for you that should be! Don't hire him out of desperation or because his retainer is low compared to other attorneys like I did, that will cost you a lot more money.

Terry Spencer's office just sent me a letter of intimidation, bullying me to take down my Yelp comment from 2011. I told them that "I hope they sue me with the same vigor and competence in which they represented my case in 2009." Trust me. I'm safe. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

After going through the rest. I found the best! I only wish I had been introduced to Terry years before falling for all the "father advocate" lawyers. Terry knows the laws inside and out, but, more importantly he loves what he does and it shows based on how hard he works for me. His competent staff are always helpful. Taking all of that into account, Mr. Spencer, is by far someone I recommend to everyone I know in need of representation. Thank you Terry!

Terry is handling my civil, family law case with custody. He is really smart and knowledgeable. He really knows his stuff! This makes it so that the documents he prepares are well thought out and excellent. When he walks into the courtroom he is respected and almost feared. He knows the laws and procedures which makes for a very effective advocate on your side.
