Food and beverages you consume throughout the day leave a film of sticky plaque on your teeth. This plaque can cause cavities and gum disease if you don't brush and floss your teeth regularly. Yet, brushing and flossing isn't always enough to keep your teeth cavity-free and sparklingly white! If plaque sits on your teeth for more than three to five days, it hardens and turns into calculus (tartar), which cannot be removed with brushing or flossing.The calculus on your teeth will then start to eat away at your enamel, causing cavities and irritating your gums.
You probably already know that plaque and calculus can eat away at the enamel of your teeth, causing cavities, but they can also irritate your gums and cause gum disease. Gum disease occurs when plaque is allowed to build up along and under the gum line. If it's not removed within a few days, this plaque hardens and becomes calculus (tartar).
Gum disease is caused by a bacterial infection that is hidden below your gums. Dental cleanings can effectively treat the bacteria, but when you return home the cycle often continues. Bacterial cells grow back in just hours after a cleaning, and toothbrush, rinse and floss can't reach deep enough to address the infection at home.

I'll first start off by saying Hollowbrook dental was recommended to me by friends and coworkers- it is clear that I did not receive the same service that they did. I had higher expectations than I should have, not only did Hollowbrook lose my paperwork but the staff didn't seem very knowledgeable about what's happening around their office. I called and got the receptionist who was a little rude, I let her know that I was told to call and make an appointment by the dental assistant when I did she told me that that was incorrect and that I would hear from them but not really explaining or telling me what we were waiting on. It's been almost three weeks and I have not heard anything, the lack of communication in this building is disappointing.

I can't say enough about HollowBrook Dental. The staff are very friendly, caring, dedicated, professional individuals. The doctors are all wonderful, it doesn't matter which doctor you see, each one special, talented, professional. This is the absolutely BEST dental office I've ever encountered. If you try this dental office you will be treated like family! I actually don't dread dentists since going here.
