Our practice is a specialized one, providing dental care to children, adolescents and patients with special healthcare or behavioral needs. Dr. Emily Mellion and Dr. Katie Kochenour and their team welcome you to be part of our Keystone Pediatric Dental family. Our office specializes in comprehensive dental care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special healthcare and behavioral needs.
Services
Dr. Emily Mellion is the owner of Keystone Pediatric Dentistry. It is very important to her that each patient and family experiences a warm and inviting atmosphere and excellent service where communication and ethics are priority. Dr. Emily grew up in southern Ohio. She completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Dayton and went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) at The Ohio State University. Immediately after dental school she completed a one year advanced education in dentistry residency at Southern Illinois University.
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
Our practice is a specialized one, providing dental care to children and adolescents, including those with special health and behavior needs. Our Doctors have achieved highly specific additional training and Board Certification in the field of Pediatric Dentistry to assure our patients of the highest competency in their treatment.
The pediatric dentist has an extra two to three years of specialized training after dental school, and is dedicated to the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. The very young, pre-teens, and teenagers all need different approaches in dealing with their behavior, guiding their dental growth and development, and helping them avoid future dental problems. The pediatric dentist is best qualified to meet these needs. It is very important to maintain the health of the primary teeth.

Today was my last day and appointment here But, all the years I've been here for dentist appointments, my nurse Jen, and my doctors, Dr. Emily, Dr. Katie, and Dr. Ashley were nothing but such sweet and precious ladies! They took care of me so well and they are nothing but, hands down friendly! It was very hard to say goodbye to them but, I know I will see them again soon somewhere.
This dentist will always be my favorite one and Jen, Dr. Emily, Dr. Katie, and Dr. Ashley will always be my favorite dentist people! Jen, Dr. Emily, Dr. Katie, and Dr. Ashley, you guys deserve more than 5 stars for being so kind!

My son & I had our first visit to Keystone today and it was FANTASTIC. Having been to another pediatric dentist, I can say with certainty that Dr Emily & everyone at Keystone was head & shoulders above the other place we had been to in the past, and everything about our appointment (for a tooth extraction) was wonderful from start to finish. My son has pretty moderate dental-anxiety but without being prompted, he even thanked the staff after the extraction and told them "This was the best experience!" while still sitting in the chair.
Everyone we talked with was super kind & courteous, and they went above & beyond to make sure my son was comfortable & they made sure I was informed every step of the way. If you're on the fence about taking your child to Keystone, just do it! You'll be so happy you chose Keystone! THANK YOU, Dr. Emily, Jess & Ashley!

I can not say good enough things about this dentist group. My son had a horrible infection and tooth pain and I called over 17 places trying to get him in for an emergency visit appointment. Finally I called Keystone, and they did everything they could to get us in for an appointment in a reasonable time. The office was clean and so kid friendly, and the staff was nice and helpful. They fixed my sons tooth and made him feel comfortable in the process. I'm so grateful for their compassion and understanding of urgency.

Everyone was so nice, friendly, and well prepared. We arrived 30 minutes early and the receptionist already had our file waiting and checked us in quickly. She greeted my daughter by name, which she loved! Dawn and Dr. Katie were both great with my daughter and made her feel comfortable the whole visit. I wish we didn't have to be there to get fillings, but I couldn't ask for a better staff and experience. It was obvious that they really cared about my daughter and her well being.

I recently took my daughter for her first appointment with Keystone and i was blown away. The dental assistants made her comfortable and talked her through each step they were doing. Dr. Emily was super sweet and very informative. She was telling me things that the other dentists failed to ever mention. She showed my daughter each tool and what it did before doing anything. My daughter is actually excited to get her teeth cleaned again. They definitely surpassed my expectations. 100% would recommend.
