TMJ is a serious condition having to do with the relationship between the teeth, muscles and jaws joints. Unlike other dental conditions, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder or TMJ is not a tooth by tooth problem but a systemic one. Unfortunately, many who suffer from TMJ cannot find effective treatment.
Cris Simmons, DDS is your jaw pain and TMJ expert. No one around has the technology, the years of experience, or the knowledge to more effectively treat your TMJ or related jaw disorder. Dr. Simmons provides a comprehensive approach to the underlying causes and treatment of TMJ, jaw related and sleep disorders.
The first step in your diagnostic process is a one hour consultation with Dr. Simmons, during which he will review your history, complete a detailed examination, and make appropriate recommendations. From this information you will leave with an understanding of how your often seemingly unrelated symptoms are connected to your jaw dysfunction.

I had a consultation with Dr. Simmons. At that consultation he said he could treat me and it would be 11,500ish. He did not explain how the appliance would improve my condition. I asked for a doctors note from work as I could not focus due to the pain and brain fog from the medicine they prescribed. I also asked if FMLA would be warranted and if they would complete the forms.

They said yes to both. They put I would be incapacitated for months so I could not work at all. Then they refused to fill out anymore forms, releasing me to work, or the form for my works emergency leave. They kept saying they hadn't talked to the dentist about it yet. stringing me on for weeks, when I could have been working part time. I eventually I got onto my primary care providers schedule to get new FMLA forms so I could work.

This dentist wasted 5 and half weeks of my sick and vacation leave because they did not want to deal with their mistake. They were very unprofessional, raised their voice at me, and ignored my calls. They said I was rushing them, it should not take 4 days to fill out a 1 page form that asks 2 questions. Also the lag time between appointments is unacceptable. 7 weeks between consultation and diagnosis & start of treatment is insane.

I have since found treatment elsewhere and they were able to treat me at 1/2 the cost. So Simmons' and his team are an unprofessional rip off. I have never been treated so poorly by a medical provider.

Don't trust this person and his wife, bought a dining table from his office in Bellevue while he was doing closing business sale. but after four days, I got another one (much worse condition). I found that after my payment and bringing it back home. but this Dr. Simmons and his wife Anna denied that and refused to talk about it with me. and told me to donate to Goodwill but they would definitely keep the money. and admitted straightly that they are dishonest person. so no bother to try to get my money back or get the right dining table.

Dr. Simmons office has been a God send to our family. Our oldest daughter had been to 3 jaw specialists/orthodontists and had even completed a full round of braces before we found Dr. Simmons. He was the only doctor to actually diagnose her as a surgical case. Now 5 years after treatment, her cross-bite is completely corrected, she has a beautiful jaw line, and her jaw no longer pops and locks.

Now Simmons is treating our 3 youngest children and I have just started treatment myself for orthodontic/TMJ issues. We travel each month to Seattle from Boise because after trying multiple other doctors, Dr. Simmons is the only orthodontic TMJ specialist we trust. Dr. Simmons has extensive training in his field with thousands of hours of continuing education courses to learn, and keep up with the newest standards in care.

He works by finding the root of the problem and develops a treatment plan to fix it. Each of my children's orthodontic issues have been resolved by his treatments. My second daughter's headaches have also completely resolved, and her health in general has improved by treating her TMJ. We absolutely love the office staff and as another reviewer mentioned, consider them family. Thank you Dr. Simmons, Anna, and Nicole for all the years of successful orthodontic treatment. We will continue to refer others to your office for many years to come.

Thanks to Dr Simmons l was able to quit using a CPAP device for sleep apnea. After carefully and thoroughly measuring my mouth and jaw, he created a dental "appliance" that helps keep my airway open. It also protects from teeth grinding. Thin elastic straps connect upper and lower parts. They get loose and I replace them every month. A sleep study done with Dr Simmons appliance proved its effectiveness. I have been so grateful to no longer need a CPAP, especially for travel.

Life changing! I was suffering from chronic headaches and neck pain that had greatly hindered my ability to sleep and function in daily activities. After several treatments from different doctors I became exhausted and frustrated from the continuing pain with no diagnosis. Thankfully, I found Dr. Simmons who was able to treat me without surgery and diagnosis me with TMD. Dr. Simmons and his staff have a kind nature and patience to help you understand the anatomy and functions of the human skull. Ive been pain free for almost 2 years now and I'm eternally grateful for their service.

I saw Dr. Simmons years ago. He is a snake oil salesman. I had severe TMD and was looking for help. $7000 later and a plastic mouthguard was no help. Sure, his neuromuscular xrays and martian head contraption looks and sounds good, but at the end of the day he didn't help my bruxism that causes the joint pain. I saw Dr. Pheling afterwards and he was the Dentist that really helped me for less than half the price! I can't believe Dr. Simmons is still in practice.

Dr. Simmons and his amazing team have changed my life! Their support, encouragement and honesty was a refreshing change from any medical experience I have had before. After many failed trials with other TMD professionals, I finally felt in control of my pain after working with Dr. Simmons. For once I felt like someone was listening to me and knew what I was experiencing.

He and his team's concern for my health and well being is unmatched in any of my experience with other doctors. My recovery is continuously progressing and I am back to my old self again, something I thought could never happen. Thank you so much Cris, Anna and Holly I can smile again, pain free!

I have been in treatment with Dr. Simmons for 3 years now and couldn't be happier. By fixing my bite and my jaw, he has completely cured my Meniere's disease, which is an absolute lifesaver! He is doing orthodontic treatment on both of my kids as well. He is so far ahead of the game when it comes to treatment options and truly fixing the problem. Dr. Simmons and his staff are such wonderful people! I consider them to be family now and am forever grateful for them!

This is why I started Yelping. I have to be positive voice for some of these businesses. I could not believe the negative reviews on Dr. Simmons. I have been seeing Dr. Simmons for years and he has helped correct my bite and get rid of the pain in my jaw. Yes, he is pricey because you are receiving quality work. I am not rich by any means but when it comes to your health it is a matter of priority and sometimes you have to pay more for exceptional care. Also, his receptionist Anna will work with you if you can't pay up front.

I appreciate that Dr. Simmons takes the time to explain in detail what is going on, the process, and the plan of action. He is a specialist in his field and lectures around the world. Holly is his long time assistant and she is wonderful.

Dr. Simmons successfully treated my longtime TMJ issues and referred me to a sleep doctor who diagnosed sleep apnea. His medical care has made a huge improvement in my quality of life and I'm truly grateful. He is also treating my daughters for orthodontics and is doing a stellar job. I highly recommend Dr. Simmons.

The review, below, reflects exactly what I went through. It's been a while since I had my appointment, but I also thought it was ridiculous to be charged $225 for a sales pitch. I wanted to post something about him on here earlier, but I had actually forgotten his name until Angie's List reminded me in a "Please Review This" email. My brother-in-law, a lawyer, recommended him because he's often called on for court cases related to TMJ issues. I'm sure he's great at "performing" in a courtroom. He doesn't seem very good at patient care, though. I'm sure he makes plenty off of those "consulting fees" to live on, though. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR TMJ HELP!

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of care we received from Cris Simmons and would strongly recommend anyone with TMJ issues look elsewhere for help. My child has mild TMJ jaw locking issues and we set up an appointment to see Cris Simmons. There is a $225 "consult" fee just to get in the door. I thought that this was a little steep, but was willing to pay it to get some help for my child. Cris Simmons spent less than 5 minutes "examining" her and then proceeded to give us a 45-minute canned lecture on the anatomy of the jaw. I'm all for educating the patient about the issues involved, but the basics of what needed to be said could have been done in 2 minutes.

One got the feeling he thought all this pseudo-erudite pontificating would help us feel better about the $225 fee, to make us feel like we were actually getting something for our money (as if we didn't know how to look all this up on the internet for free). After the perfunctory and superficial "exam", he didn't touch my child for the rest of the consult, and certainly offered nothing immediately (either in physical manipulations or in advice) that would help decrease or ameliorate the problem.

His only help came in the way of offering to sell us a $9000 prosthetic plastic device (like a night tooth guard). That's right $9,000.00! So, we paid $225 dollars just to get to this: a $9000 upsell! A long and mostly useless lecture on general physiological mechanics that pretty much ignored the specific patient sitting right in front of him and offered nothing in the way of immediate help.

I would be embarrassed at employing such tactics and could not trust this person to give appropriate care to my child or my self. If you have severe TMJ, maybe this $9,000 plastic mouth piece might be the way to go; I don't know. I do know charging $225 for a bunch of hot air just as a hook to get you to drop another $9,000 does not indicate the kind of health care provider I would trust with my health. We ended up going to a physical therapist and after two visits the problem resolved.
