TEETH WHITENING REVIEW: I have been a customer here for most of my life. I want to be very clear that this review is NOT for Mark Gray DDS as a whole. Most experiences I have had here have been very pleasant. The staff is kind, patient and knowledgeable. However, I can not confidently recommend the Zoom in office whitening procedure. The procedure costs $450, which is a bit expensive, but I went into this process feeling that the result would justify the cost. Now, I'm not so sure.
While the procedure itself was painless, I experienced intense pain in the hours following the procedure. Not "zingers" or "some sensitivity" but a pain level of about 4-5 that would spike to 7-8 every 5-10 minutes. However, everybody is different, you might feel more pain, though you may feel substantially less. If you are going to get this procedure, I strongly recommend you prepare adequately for pain.
If I could go back in time, I would have stopped at two or three sessions and I would have asked for stronger painkillers. On that note, I strongly recommend that you ask as many questions as possible. Did you ever take fluoride drops as a child? Have you had brackets on your teeth? Do you wear a retainer every night? Do you regularly consume food that you worry might hinder your results? Ask.
Ask to see your teeth during and after the procedure. Ask how long the whitening will last or how long it will need to take effect. My teeth immediately began to fade to my disappointment; I am going to speak with the office soon to see if this is normal and get a better understanding of what I should expect. Ask what color difference you should expect.
I was not shown my own teeth during or after the procedure. When I finally saw my teeth at home, I was disappointed by the uneven color lift and the streaks/patchy lift on my front teeth. While I wouldn't say you shouldn't get this procedure, if you do, you should be very prepared for the potential pain you may experience and you should be very involved in the process. If you think there is a problem, voice it. If you are feeling too much pain or think your teeth have lifted enough, ask to end the procedure.

The one star is only for me to post this. The front receptionist with the blonde hair is VERY rude and unprofessional. I will never step foot into this facility again. She has horrible customer service and needs to find a job that suits her like not doing customer service because she definitely doesn't provide good customer service at all!

Awful experience, really long time of waiting, painful and weird. I came for consultation and without talking with me they start with X-ray and photos with painful positions. They give me estimate for treatments that was more than twice of what they said in the phone. And they charge me $150 for consultation without letting me know about it before. Really bad experience. Not recommend at all.

Well, the staff were very kind and professional, but the Dr was rude and unprofessional. Not long after she entered the room she asked me if I had a job!? It seemed completely out of the blue, so I asked her to clarify her question. She repeated "do you work?" (seems like a pretty suggestive question to ask a 38 year old man. I couldn't imagine her randomly asking a white guy if he has a job).
She then proceeded to work on my tooth with no anesthesia, I had to stop her twice and ASK to be numbed. I'm currently dealing with trismus/lock jaw after my visit. Definitely NOT going back there. In fact, if the staff actually reads this please cancel my April follow-up appointment.

Well, my cost always come up exactly like the treatment plan we discussed. They spend a lot of time discussing and working with you to get the most coverage from your insurance and I am very happy. I have Delta Dental and a FSA. They work well with my insurance, everything I pay on my FSA comes out exactly as they said. They also do excellent dental work and are very competent. I am here to stay.

I've made a teeth cleaning 2 years ago. I was told the Dentist were in the united Health care network and I've provided my member ID card. Each days after the treatment i gave my credit card to pay some extra since it was a deep cleaning. That was amazing, I never pay any extra for teeth cleaning. I was very disappointed to pay 400$ completely out of the blue after the treatments.
And then surprise surprise I' received another bill at home after 2 years, for 400$ more. The reason is that they were unable to recover enough money to cover the cost of the cleaning, from my health insurance. I don't think they are capable to provide a firm price to their services, they are leaving a cloudy messages and at the end you don't know what you are going to receive in your mail box years later.
You could think that you have pay everything the day that you step out from the dentist and you know? You were wrong you will have to pay more and more without any kind of agreement.

I'm giving it 2 stars ONLY because my dentist was amazing. The reason I will absolutely not give it 5 is because of the receptionist. I specifically asked at my last appointment how much I will need to pay at my next appointment so that I can make sure I had the funds and she HAND WROTE a total on the paperwork with my treatment plan on it. I arrive at my appointment and had a pleasant experience getting 4 fillings and a tooth extraction but after all of the work was done and I got to the receptionist, she gave me a total that was about $300 more and gave no regard to her mistake.
She wasn't apologetic at all and was pretty dismissive of her mistake. I also witnessed her rolling her eyes when one of the dental assistants was talking and seemed to have a very poor attitude. Needless to say, I'm switching dentists and will not give them another dime.

I would avoid this dental office at all costs. Sylvia, the office manager sets up my appointment 3 weeks in advance and then the day before cannot verify an insurance that actually is active, and decides due to a hygenist being out, to completely disregard my appointment and give it to some other patient, without telling me in advance. It has been a long time since I have had such poor communication and service, and to be clear, this is probably the second review I have ever written online, that is how bad I feel about what just transpired. As a footnote, Ursula could not have been nicer to try and solve the issue for me, when she got involved but overall, awful service and experience from Sylvia.

I could not be happier with my experience at Dr. Gray's office. Every single staff member made me feel very welcomed and instantly like a part of their family. I went in for a routine cleaning and they noticed some other items that needed to be addressed; specifically fillings from over thirty years ago. They showed me the photos of the areas they wanted to replace as well as the financial impact of the procedure.
They were able to get me in right away for my procedure. They worked very quickly and I didn't feel a thing! I look forward to my next routine visit and may even stop in sometime just to say hello. Thank you Audra, Cheri, Magan, and Dr. Newman; you truly are a remarkable team!

I have been with Dr Gray and his staff since 1996! My entire family uses him. He and his staff are personable and feel like extended family. But most importantly, I trust his knowledge and recommendations. I have never been disappointed with his dental skills and work as he stays up to date with the latest technology.

I usually hate going to the dentist, my previous dentist had 2 failed attempts at placing a permanent crown on my tooth after a root canal. This ordeal of going back and forth with 3 temporary crowns went on from July 2019 until January 2020, last week he finally refunded my insurance company and referred me to another dentist. I actually found Mark Gray by google search and was very apprehensive about going to an unfamiliar dentist but he was awesome!
He's very detailed with explaining the procedure and takes his time. The staff was very friendly and his office is beautiful, clean and equipped with the best upgraded technology including cerac. I'm so glad I found this guy. I would definitely recommend this dentist!

First time going to his office and I loved it. Everyone was super nice, extremely helpful and the hygienist was amazing. Best dental experience I have ever had. I picked his office because of the rating he had and they were definitely on point. Would absolutely recommend his practice to family and friends.

I grew up going to Dr. Gray and had to stop when I moved away for college. I recently moved back and had a dental emergency over a weekend. I had gone to an emergency dentist with extended hours and was told I needed two root canals and two crowns. I wanted a second opinion from a dentist I trusted, so even though I hadn't been to his practice in over 5 years, I decided to call Dr. Gray's after-hours line in case there was any chance I could get in.
They were able to get me on the schedule the following day with Dr. Newman, who was able to fix my teeth without a root canal or crowns! All on the same day- within hours! They look just like they did before. I am SO relieved for a less invasive treatment, and so is my wallet! I am so happy I decided to wait and get treatment at Mark Gray DDS! Everyone in the office takes such great care of their patients!

Dr. Gray and his staff are warm and caring individuals who excel in what they do. I had to leave my dentist in Virginia when I moved here to Houston. I was oh, so fortunate to have someone who steered me to his offices. What struck me first was the feeling I had gone through a time warp. The equipment and technology was futuristic. He is back from having been flooded and all is restored. Visit him. You won't be sorry.

I cannot rave about them enough! Dr. Newman is so nice, she made me feel super comfortable with my first time ever going to a dentist. She has a comfortable air about her and a likable personality. I'm 23 and the general idea of going to the dentist is pain and fear. I had none of that, I was totally comfortable and more importantly I felt safe. Mrs. Suleyma in billing was very patient with me when I had questions about my insurance. Mrs. Cheri did amazing cleaning my teeth and I felt no discomfort. Mrs. Sylvia and Mrs. Cheryl did amazing at assisting Dr. Newman during my fillings.
They always checked on me and made sure they weren't hurting me or stretching my mouth too wide. Overall everyone in the office has a positive attitude and I cannot thank them enough for taking care of me! I love to smile now

Michelle is an excellent dental hygienist: She is very gentle and yet still does a thorough job of cleaning, always checking to see if I'm hurting in any way. Dr. Newman is a tremendous dentist as well for when I need fillings, etc. She's professional, efficient and focused - simply gets the job done with a minimal amount of fuss or trauma. The staff in general are very polite and welcoming. Never have to wait past the appointment time. Highly recommended, been coming here for several years now

I hate the dentist. but as someone who enjoys teeth & chewing, i am happy that he is my dentist. i used to come to him when i was younger & he was my first choice when i finally got insurance as an adult. the office is very clean. the staff is super nice. they use very modern equipment. and they make you as comfortable as possible. another thing i like is that i cant think of a time where i have had to wait maybe more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. i recently had my teeth capped and i researched this a lot, very hesitant after reading some of the precautions and horror stories. but i knew he would do a wonderful job & i am happy with the results! i dont really know how dental pricing goes, but i would assume his practice would be on the higher end of the spectrum. luckily my insurance is really good and covers a lot of the cost. there was a point before i had insurance where i had to get a procedure done that i wanted a really good dentist and i was able to use care credit - which i was willing to pay for because theyre my teeth. almost as important as finding a good hair dresser (kidding, i actually cut my own hair) but you get the point.
