Dr. Mark G. Smith is a long-time resident of Northern Virginia, having graduated from Thomas Edison High School in Fairfax County and Virginia Tech. He attended dental school at the Medical College of Virginia and completed a General Practice Residency at Martin Army Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Afterward, Dr. Smith founded a dental practice in South Alexandria and practiced there for 18 years.
Our office is located conveniently across from Loudoun Valley High School in the Purcellville Plaza shopping center. We provide advanced, detailed, and comprehensive care for our dental patients. This involves thorough evaluation of the biting and chewing system including the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the teeth, gums, tongue, and surrounding tissues, and a bite (occlusal) analysis when needed.
1. SCREEN: Attempt to identify patients that may have sleep apnea. However we are aware there is no perfect screening tool. Some people with sleep apnea are missed. 2. REFER: To the sleep physician or other specialist for testing. 3. MAKE: An oral appliance when CPAP fails or if the sleep physician believes it is appropriate.

This is a wonderful dental practice in Purcellville. I heard about Dr. Mark Smith by word of mouth, delighted to see first hand this small practice that performs such quality care. As usual, Dr. Smith and his staff (dental assistant and dental hygienist) gave me their undivided attention when I was in their care today. I highly recommend this practice, especially to anyone, who like me, are a bit dental-phobic. Actually I don't fear having to go to the dentist anymore - and that's saying a lot!

If you are looking for a dentist and staff for an oral sleep apnea device stay away. My issue is not quality of service, it is that they are not in the network of my medical insurance and I was not informed of that. Dr. Smith did inform me that the insurance part could be complicated; and it was or seemed to be. From my end the complication was they were not in network. Thus my bill was for much more than expected or led to believe it would be.

Dr Smith and his team of Hygienist and Office Staff have always been wonderful to myself and family and have been extremely thorough and professional in various dental needs varying from check-up's, to cleanings, to crown's. Amanda has provided exceptional care my last 2 check-up/cleaning visits. I couldn't give a higher recommendation - never an issue and am completely satisfied.

I had a great experience from the beginning to the end with Pam providing great communication regarding scheduling and my insurance coverage to my visit with Dr. Smith and team.
