Island Dental Spa - Gy Yatros

This is a new dentist for me after moving from Fort Myers and before that living in Illinois. It's critical that I have a place that is honest and one that doesn't suggest treatments that are not critical. Having retired, I am footing the dental bills myself and at my age it seems I always need a more expensive solution. That being crown or implants. Teeth tend to fail more as you get older with old fillings and dental work that was done decades ago.

Island Dental is the place for me. I Have had a good experience with Dr. Maks. He's very professional and understands his patient's needs. He does not suggest the more expensive procedures if there is another viable option. Recently I had 3 crowns put in side by side and I popped one over the Memorial day weekend. He made it right at no charge. Unfortunately it's come out again so a more expensive option will be required. The staff here is friendly and caring. Give them a go as they are conveniently located on the island.

Dr. Maks was hands down the best dentist I've ever been to. No pain with the anesthesia, and my veneers look AMAZING! Very impressed. I would recommend him to anyone

Fantastic service. I called their office in the morning due to pain and a tooth issue. They saw me that day and two days later fixed the issue with a crown done in one day. I was so fortunate to find them. Fair pricing, caring staff, and excellent results.

Dr. Max and the excellent staff made a new crown for me today and I can honestly say I have never had a better dentist. It is not cheap at Island Dental Spa, but it is so worth every penny. The equipment is so advanced and the care so sensitive that here I am just a few hours later and I can hardly tell I had dental work done today.

Dr. De la Riva is extremely impressive. His credentials are excellent and most importantly he is kind, gentle, thorough and extremely professional in his treatment of patients. The other members of his staff reflect the same ideals. Their advanced technology and his use of it to create a personalized dental evaluation and plan is impressive. I grew up in a family of dentists and am accustomed to caring, affordable, quality dental care. The Island Dental Spa feels just like home.

I brought my 5 yr old to Island Dental Spa for a cleaning and check up, where he was treated by Dr. Maks. Dr. Maks found a cavity in my son's molar, which made my son pretty nervous! The Dr let me stay in the room the whole time, showed me the problem spot, educated my son on proper brushing and the importance of flossing (which he has been doing every day since!).

As you can see in my pictures, as soon as Dr. Maks began working on my son's cavity, the playful and fun way the Dr. Maks treated my son put him at ease and he was smiling much of the time! He never even knew he received an injection to numb his gums! We are loyal patients of Dr. Maks from here on out. Thank you to Island Dental Spa and Dr. Maks!

My father has become a seasonal resident of Florida. Dr. Maks helped him with his sore mouth and gave him direction on how to fix his dental problems. I appreciated his professionalism, personality, and skill!

Dr. Max was absolutely amazing. Pain free. I have a long history of having bad dentists. New patient here. Great work!

My favorite dentist office I've ever been to! Affordable, very friendly staff, & they do excellent work. Recently, had some crowns that had to go in. Thought I'd have to wait weeks for them to be made off site.but, no, they make them at the office! Just one of the several times that I was surprised by their great service.

The staff is wonderful, helpful, and friendly. The Doc has a great relaxing manner that puts you at ease! He's up to date, capable and genuinely interested in you and preserving your grill! Very professional office.

I made an appoinment through phone for some teeth filling. Doctors are friendly and brilliant and they did their job quite fast and almost free of pain. They charged me really reasonable or at least affordable. Place is also nice and clean and the waiting lobby is comfortable.

Dental spa took great care of me. I had 2 appointments in total, one for a standard check up and a second one for a tooth removal. Simple, fast and painless. I will visit them again for sure, in any case I will need a dentist in the future.

I just got back from my fall cleaning and have to say, my teeth have never felt better! I love my hygienist and this whole staff! As for Dr. de la Riva? Absolutely the best dentist in the land! ( and such a wonderful person!) I love Island Dental Spa & actually can't wait to be back in the chair! Great place! Good dentistry! ( Adorable children!)

My wife and I have been visiting Dr. de la Riva since 2013 and he is a terrific dentist. He cares about his patients and has quickly accommodated us for emergency procedures (i.e. outside of business hours) more than once. He's also practices state-of-the-art dentistry regarding pain management and the technology he uses. Rather than investing in a Ferrari (!) he has 3D imaging systems and computerized milling equipment that can create a perfect crown or tooth in a matter of hours rather than days (what they used to take).

I'm attaching a couple pix. Bottom line is that this is a dentist who cares about his patients and is worth a drive. I live about 45 minutes away and I'm happy to make the trip to Anna Maria Island to see him.

Dr de la Riva (Mariano) has been my dentist since opening his practice in Holmes Beach. He's friendly and fair but even more important he's a dental artist with a true empathy for his patients. Another reviewer commented that "he was one of the gentlest dentists I've ever had work on my mouth" and I must agree. In dental emergencies over the past few years (Nibbler is no youngster so these things happen) he and his staff have immediately responded to quickly fix my problems. He's always had state of the art technology in his office, but I was especially dazzled when Dr. D did a replacement crown for me last week. Hidden in the back room he has investments that other less caring dentists would have spent on a Ferrari.

Or two. His equipment enables him to create an accurate 3D picture of your teeth, and to produce durable replacement crowns on the spot, rather than waiting days with uncomfortable temporary teeth. Check out my pix to see it. Bottom line, Mariano is a great dentist with a passion for excellence who cares for his patients. I now live about 45 minute off the island and his care is worth the trip.

I have seen Mariano (do I need to call him Dr De La Riva?) as my dentist over a couple year period and he was one of the gentlest dentists I have ever had work in my mouth. I had some severe damage that required lots of work and he was always very aware of my comfort level and thoroughly explained procedures before he started work on them. Thank you for taking great care of me. I wish we were still in the same city, I'd be coming to you still.

Nice enough Dentist at Island Dental Spa but after I got a 2nd opinion, I found that I had been over charged & did not need a new crown. The facts: A crown that had fallen out was temporarily cemented by Island Dental Spa at a cost of $310.00. I was told that the entire crown would have to be redone at a cost range of $1,300 - $1,600. The temporary cement loosened & the crown fell out after 1.5 days & 3 days before the new crown was to be done (over New Years weekend).

Their office was closed on Monday Jan 2, 2017 so I went to another dentist on the Island. Dentist #2 found that I did not need a new crown & charged me 1/4 of what Island Dental Spa did to take an x-ray & re-cement the loosened crown. I went back to Island Dental Spa the next day to explain the situation & ask for a refund. The Patient Coordinator became confrontational & belligerent which honestly made me defensive.

After a small wait I had the opportunity to explain to the Dentist the situation & why I wanted a refund. While he stood by his original diagnosis he agreed to a partial refund. During the refund process the Patient Coordinator continued her arguing & belligerence. Had she exhibited better customer service skills initially I would not be writing this review. Questions: "why would Dentist #2 not do a new crown & make the money doing so if it was needed" & "why wouldn't they handle complaints/refunds in the same non-confrontational manner as we've become accustomed to at retailers"? Again, nice enough Dentist at Island Spa & I appreciate his partial refund but his Patient Coordinator lacks the skills to be in that position. Take away: Second opinions & price checking are sometimes warranted.

I am extremely picky when it comes to finding a dentist. I spent the last 3 years trying to find a good dentist. I trusted one in Bradenton to do my fillings, and it was the most painful experience ever. After receiving on the mail a postcard from island dental spa I decided to have my initial consultation. I knew from the moment I schedule the appointment that this one would be the one.

I am so happy i found island dental spa. De la riva examined my teeth and noticed I had an incomplete root canal on one of my molars that always ached a little for years since the root canal was done. No one has ever told me this. He decided to redo the canal and I have to say it was PAINLESS, I couldn't feel a thing. I am so impressed with Dr. De la Riva knowledge and how up to date he's office is.

Their fees weren't as high as I expected. I would say about the same to some of the dentist I went in the last few years. Shannon was great filling the claim to my dental insurance. I also got my teeth clean by Michelle and I absolutely love her. She did the best cleaning I ever had.

For me, finding a good dentist is quite complicated. I am just not comfortable. Anyway, I had a great experience with Island Dental Spa where Dr. de La Riva did a Crown on me and I didn't even felt it! All the staff made me feel at ease and the experience was really good, which is a lot from a visit to a Dentist. Now, I am doing some Invisalign which I think is great. They gained a regular in me and my family!
