Cahalan Dental Center: Taheri Shawn

I brought my child in for regular cleaning. The hygienist spent lots of time conversing (way more than necessary) but spent only 5 minutes or so on the actual cleaning. I was surprised. I asked and she said that's because the child's jaw is small so it doesn't require much cleaning. When I went home and checked, many of the stains were still there unchanged.

I really wanted to give this place a good review. Close to my home, the dentist was nice, the place was clean but it is a shame when I ask them how much something is going to costs and the receptionist looks into it and charges me $15 so I approve then get a bill for $102. I wish this wasn't the case because if it wasn't for their billing people I would have kept on coming but if they can't properly tell me the cost of something it's infuriating.

I would have declined the fluoride for that price. Fortunately, I'm able to afford it but others are really struggling. I gave it a 2 stars because the other dental offices Ive been to are also clean and have great pediatric dentist but I don't end up with bills 6 weeks later I wasn't aware of and is a shock to me.

Dr. Taheri is very unprofessional. Talks to clients in a condescending way. Not sure if it's because we are young and he felt like he could just disrespect us. Also his work is not good, my daughter had crowns put in and in less than a year one fell. Apparently they don't have warranty because we were charged so they could fix it and for what? In less than two weeks it fell again!

And once again we could either leave her without a crown or get her baby tooth extracted for $200. As if the initial 10k+ they charged us for the original work last year was not enough. I pray to God we don't ever have to revisit this dental office. We have good insurance yet they said it doesn't cover anything. I wish we would've gotten second opinions instead of being this gullible.

For once in our lives, we have found an amazing dentist team, Dr. Naderi helped me got over my crazy fear for a dentist & works with so much care! I can totally recommend them, you won't ever be looking for another dentist, they are the best! Dr. Naderi & Dr. Taheri, thank you SO much for looking after our family's smiles. It's been a pleasure since day one. Keep up your excellent dentistry!

Dr. Taheri is amazing. He was able to tell what was happening with my son's teeth just by looking at a picture I sent him. And the way he treated his teeth actually saved them from needing crowns. So grateful.

My wife and I chose Dr. Taheri's office because of the location. We read through the Yelp reviews, but wanted to see for ourselves if it would be a good fit for our son. After 3 visits, we unfortunately found the negative reviews to to be valid. He was very rude and judgmental when dealing with my wife, and did not make any effort to make my son feel comfortable at his office.

As previous reviews stated, he seems to find cavities that are not there or are not an issue. With my son, he found 2 cavities, and quickly recommended putting him under to treat the the cavities. Not feeling comfortable with Dr. Taheri giving my 4 year old medicine to put him to sleep, my wife and I decided to try another dentist. Our new dentist only found 1 cavity, and recommended leaving the cavity, due to it's small size and it not posing any issues. If you plan on taking your children here, be sure to read the reviews and find the common theme amongst them.

This is the BEST dentist in town! I can totally recommend this amazing Team! Dr. Naderi totally changed our outlook on going to the dentist. I was always soooo afraid to go to the dentist but she works so gently & really care a LOT about her patients. I can totally recommend them, as Dr. Taheri is amazing with my son, too! Keep up the AMAZING work, you Guys!

Every time we come here, we get the best service! My kids really enjoy coming to the dentist now! They look forward to the friendly staff, iPads & prizes after their visit!

Dr. Shawn has been my son's dentist since he was 1 yo, I had the worst experience on my last treatment 3 years ago that I almost died, that been said I stopped going to dentist, the pain I initially go for was there for this 3 year finally I ask if they do Adults for dentistry and was a YES! OMG was a great experience they are professional, nice and warm when you explain what you feel, got the Roth canal on the tooth was on pain for 6 years (yes took me 3 to actually do the 1st one) my self and my kids recommend you to see Dr. Shawn you will not regret it and will enjoy the best.

This place is ridiculous. I have never delt with a more incompetent medical office. 1st. I have 2 small children with hypocalcified teeth, they need extra care. You walk into the office yes its modern but the employees dont even acknowledge you. She is so completely busy to stop what she is doing on her computer to look up and say hello I'll be with you in just a moment.

How difficult that? Dr. Taheri himself is okay nothing exceptional. Dental ins. Is straight forward you submit a claim and the bill is paid full or partial. For some reason this dental office could not figure this out. I could go on and on with my frustration and disappointment. I will be filling a medical complaint.

They clean very well and they want the best for you. They are a very nice group of people. They also will talk with you and get to know you. In all it is a very nice experience for a dentist!

Our first time using Dr Taheri and we had a great experience. The staff was very accommodating and took very good care of my son who was having a procedure done. We our going to move all of our family to Dr. Taheri

Great office. Very clean and welcoming. My daughter feels comfortable with the staff. She loves going to the dentist now.

I will never go back here. Dr. Tejari is okay at best he may be an excellent periodontist but he comes off uninterested, judgy and not a kid person. His staff is the most lazy and incompetent medical office I've encountered. I had an issue with my ins. And they never followed up, I guess they didn't want to get paid but when I ask why haven't u called my ins. To follow up there answer was oh we have been busy or I'm on hold for an hour and I cant keep doing that :/. But that's ur job. I would not reccomend

VERY UPSETTING EXPERIENCE! Don't go here! I waited over one month for my daughter to see this dentist as I specifically requested a consultation and some work to be done on the same day of the appointment. I was instructed over the phone to arrive one hour early in case anesthesia is needed. I provided my personal info and insurance info. I informed them of my daughters X-rays got done by our family dentist that day.

I clearly stated how I'm challenged with time off from work and I got this day off for this appointment. I arrive one hour and twenty minutes early and the office was closed. I called to see what happened but it just went to voicemail. I waited for one hour until a dental assistant arrived. I informed them of my appointment and they seemed confused.

I had informed them that my daughter had X-rays done when I scheduled and they where scrambling trying to find them. Then I was informed that the x rays were blurry and they said they had to take new ones. Then I was informed that they have no time to do any work and told me that she needs to come back another time because she has lots of bad teeth.

I told him that I really needed something done. He kept on telling me how valuable his time was but never acknowledged that my time was also valuable. I felt rushed throughout. He had no bedside manner or approached my child kindly or at her level. After checking her he said she needs a lot of work and won't be doing anything today. He sent me to the receptionist to discuss treatment plan and in-front of about 7 people who were about 4 feet away.

The receptionist told me that she has lots of bad teeth in total of 7 that need work(I felt to embarrassed and violated, this should have been discussed in private and be more confidential) and told me that there needs to be two separate treatment days for her and that the first visit I would have to pay around $560 and the second visit I would have to pay around $1600 out of pocket.

I was in complete shocked (I do have insurance) the full cost was around $3300. I questioned on how expensive this is to me. I was so upset and embarrassed to ask specific questions because all these people around me where listening. I was only proved with a small appointment card and she wrote on the card the amount I had to pay for the next visit. Walked back to request codes and a breakdown of what they were charging.

I was in tears after leaving this office. I was trying to figure out how I was going to pay for this. I decided to call my insurance. I have a straight PPO plan and I was being charged as a "Premier" but never told that. I was NEVER informed at anytime that they charge max $$ for everything! 3x as much! I was sooooo upset! My insurance provided me with another office number and the office gave me an appointment that same day.

They were very transparent with their cost and treatment plan. The consult visit was only $20 and her full treatment was going to be around $1000 this is so much less and reasonable for the same services. I later on got a bill from Taheri charging over $300! For a consultation! Absolutely ridiculous. I'm not willing to pay for this visit. Please save your money and go to a professional office or someone that really cares. I recommend Surfside Kids Dental.

Dr. Taheri is very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating most of all he and his staff are extremely understanding and patient. We started coming here on a referral from my cousin, 2 years ago. I had a child who was extremely sensitive at dentist offices she feared for her life and squirmed kicked and screamed. After getting literally 87 out of 3 prior offices who refused to deal with us we came here.

We explained to dr taheri our previous bouts w other dentists and he assured us he would try his best. Out of all the dentist experiences we've had I'm glad we finally found a dentist with the knowledge resources and patience to deal with a child who is extra sensitive. As the years have passed she's gotten more and more comfortable with the dentist and she is doing better every single time she comes. The office itself is very open and modern. I'd recommend friends family yelpers anyone who'd like a dentist that's family friendly helpful and resourceful

My daughter has significant disabilities and this was our first time going to Dr. Taheri. First, I'll say that him and his assistant, Lyn, were very kind and gentle with my daughter. Dr. Taheri spent 1 hour talking with me about my daughter's needs and that she should be seen at UCSF to get the proper care she needs, and anything less would be unethical for her.

He was very thorough in gathering information to make his decision. He referred me to a personal colleague of his at UCSF. Dr. Taheri is very knowledgeable (he's a professor of dentistry at UCSF) and very concerned about his patients. I wish my daughter could be his patient, but her disabilities are too severe for a routine clinic.

Both my boys have been seeing Dr Taheri since they had teeth. Everyone at his dentist has been very helpful, engaging and just above and beyond compassionate! I am so lucky to have come across his pediatric dentist! For my experience other places have not been the same.

Both kids and I have been going to Dr's Taheri and Naderi for years. Dr Taheri and his staff are great with the kids, gentle, compassionate, and clear. We have navigated through braces, neck gear, and Dr Taheri has helped us remedy a few cavities, but more importantly, prevent numerous ones. For adults, I highly recommend Dr Naderi, she has repaired a bunch of cavities for me, and she is also very compassionate and gentle with my sensitive teeth. Never had any issues from years of her service.

If there was a way to give 0 stars, I would have done that since my experience with this doctor was totally negative. He was bleeding us dry. This is my first review ever but I feel that I have to write this to save other people from losing their hard earned money for bogus treatments that this dentist says it needs to be done. Our first dentist was wonderful but when my husband switched jobs, that dentist was not covered so I looked around and went to Dr. Taheri.

Remember that my kids were with the other dentist for at least 10 years and they never had a cavity. From the very first day, we stepped into Dr. Taheri's office, after checking the kids, he called me in and I was shocked to hear that every child had 3-4 cavities to begin with. He gave me this exorbitant bill which I cannot remember to treat them.

From then on, it was easy target and easy money for him because every time I took my kids, they had some kind of issue or cavities - I mean every single time. Every time I went there, I had to take out my credit card for them to charge anyway from $300 - $500+++ dollars. Every single time. There was never a time that I did not pay him. I cannot imagine the total amount I had payed him but it was definitely in the thousands!

When my husband went to a new company, I checked to see if our old dentist was covered. Praise be to God, he was. I have taken my kids back to my wonderful dentist for the last 3 years and till this day, surprise! surprise! none of them have had a single cavity.

Stop and read this before going to Shawn Taheri. My 4 year old was treated by Shawn Taheri but the billing showed Roya Naderi as the treating provider to allow them to bill substantially higher since Roya Naderi was out of my insurance provider Delta Premier. It just so happened that I had taken a picture for viber moment which I showed to the Shawn Taheri's billing person who agreed right after she saw the image.

Prior to that she insisted she was right. Then I found out from the billing person that since sedation charge was out of pocket expense it was not reported in the patient's chart to Delta Dental, this I informed Delta Dental who stated to me that I should file a 2nd grievance which I did. Delta Dental lacks systems of controls when such grievances are filed. So take as many images of your kid and save them as you may be scammed!

This is a great clinic, very quick and kid friendly. They have movies on the chairs, not that they needed it, the hygienist was so fast and nice for the check up and cleaning. Dr Taheri is kind and honest. My son had his first cavity. Since it was the end of the year (and the insurance period) they squeezed us in the same day. They even threw in a free resin sealant since they were doing another along with the filling anyway. The filling process took less than 15 mins. They made my son calm and comfortable. I'm happy we found this place.

I came here a few times to have my teeth cleaned. Other than the video games in the waiting room, I did not like the staff or dentist, they creep me out. I found the dentist to be condescending and arrogant and made me feel guilty if I did not floss or needed extra cleaning. I'm glad my parents moved me away from this place.
