Jamison Spencer, "it's like buying a helmet to wear because you've been banging your head against the wall for years, without finding out why you're still banging your head." Oral appliance therapy can be a very effective treatment choice for people suffering with obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.
However, not all oral appliances are the same, and FAR more important than the oral appliance itself is the experience and skill of the Dentist treating you with the oral appliance therapy. Sleep apnea is a potentially dangerous disorder characterized by periods of shallow breathing or pauses in breathing while sleeping.

This office needs to be investigated for unethical (possibly illegal) billing practices. Rose Mary in the billing department has refused to return my calls or emails, after double billing myself and my insurance! The gals in the SLC office pretend to know nothing regarding billing, until you start questioning things. Then all of a sudden they know exactly how it should be charged.
I was told I had self bill my insurance, but in doing so they would charge me a higher cost than someone who was paying cash. However if I am self-billing my insurance then as far their office is concerned I am paying them cash! So I paid the higher cash price to submit to my own insurance for reimbursement only to find out they actually billed my insurance as well and now have my money that I paid as well as the money from insurance. I have not received a call or email for over 3 months. Spoke to my referring dentist and he was appalled and will no longer be referring here.

Great Listeners - So good at listening! I couldn't believe how well everyone heard and clarified my discussion. Seriously! If you want to be heard, and have a successful result - this is the place. The receptionist/assistants/administrators are all exemplary people, in their positions. I arrived with a dislocated jaw - popped behind the cartilage. Couldn't open my mouth or chew my food. My noshing has returned in full force!

Was referred by my primary care doctor after having chronic headaches and jaw pain. Very impressed with the huge difference wearing my sleep appliance has made in a relatively short amount of time. Everyone at the office was friendly and professional- they all seemed to genuinely care about my issues.

I am grateful for The Center for Sleep Apnea & TMJ! Their practice is unique, both in their service and level of care. I wholeheartedly recommend them. I subconsciously hold an immense amount of tension in my jaw. For over 25 years I've had TMJ. I ground through several dental splints. Oof! The pain migrated from my face to my inner ears -- day and night I suffered.
I was on a steady dose of ibprofen until it wasn't enough. I was desperate. I tried my dentist, a TMJ chiropractor, muscle relaxers, and facial massages to no avail. On my first visit to The Center for Sleep Apnea & TMJ, they took a full face X-ray. And then, unlike any Doctor I've ever seen, Dr. Kuehne had the patience to listen to my whole TMJ life story.
He listened intently. I never felt rushed. He really listened. Dr Kuehne concluded that I don't have sleep apnea, but that I hold my jaw in a retracted position in my sleep, and my TMJ was irritating nerves that lead to my inner ears. I had no idea, but he was right! This was verified after he modified my dental splint with a flange. The first night my lower jaw pulled on that thing like a python suffocating its prey.
The side effect of a retracted jaw is a TMJ pushing against my sensitive ear structures all night. That solution didn't work. But we didn't give up. Dr Kuehne recognized that every patient is different. We concluded that that I should use a different splint design. Instead of a TMJ splint, he ordered a mandibular advancement device made for apnea patients, the kind with giant rubber bands.
For me, it works! The techs (all ladies) who work at the clinic did a masterful job. They deserve just as much praise. Also, BOTOX! It's not just for old ladies. Dr Kuehne gave me 25 units directly into each masseter. OH MY GOODNESS! It's a MIRACLE. For the first time in my life my jaw relaxed! I could cry I'm so happy! I had to re-learn how to hold my jaw like a normal person.
I can eat steak without my face getting tired. BOTOX. I rave about it. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Between the Botox and the new splint, I feel well treated and on my way to permanent pain-free bliss. Thank you to everyone at The Center for Sleep Apnea & TMJ for your practice!

As a dentist in Boise, I have referred many people to this center for treatment and help with TMJ and sleep problems. A surprisingly high percentage of the public suffers from sleep apnea and other breathing restrictions that occur during sleep. Imagine not being as tired every day. That can be a reality for many people, quickly and predictably with their expertise.
I even referred myself there and am personally enjoying the benefits of better sleep. I recommend them to anyone with snoring problems, complex TMJ issues and help with not being so tired during the day. Thanks guys!

My experience with The Center for Sleep Apnea & TMJ has been 100% positive. Everybody, from the front desk staff to the clinicians and doctors, are helpful and kind. It's been nearly a year since my last appointment, and when I called yesterday with a concern, I was treated with the same level of thoughtfulness as I was during the active phase of my treatment.
I saw Dr. Keuhne, and I was impressed with both his knowledge and his willingness to spend time answering my questions and explaining the options. Finally, I really appreciate that the office provided me with thorough documentation regarding insurance information, out-of-pocket costs, and payment options before I made any decisions. I feel that the staff care as much about my ability to afford treatment as they do about my receiving excellent healthcare.
I had gone through 6 months of trying to acclimate to a CPAP machine and was unable to do so. I had nearly given up on having my sleep apnea and TMJ successfully treated. I urge anybody in this position to give these good people a call.

After years of keeping my family awake at night due to my snoring I finally went in and saw Dr. Kuehne. He is extremely knowledgeable and his staff are amazing. After a couple of visits I had a sleep device made and started wearing it night. The snoring was almost 100% eliminated! I have a much happier wife and an unexpected side effect is increased energy throughout the day! I highly recommend Dr. Kuehne and his staff. They are amazing! I wish I hadn't waited so long to schedule an appointment.
