I was a patient for several years and like others mentioned before was continuously upsold services and procedures. From their recommendations, I had deep root cleanings every 12-18 months. At my current dentist of over 3 years, I've never needed a deep root cleaning. I was always skeptical this office was pushing unnecessary procedures. They also like to push Invisalign and Teeth Whitening. You'll most likely get a hard sell where they offer "discounts" toward the end of the year.

Overall very unhappy with the way my treatment was handled. Although they seem very welcoming and accommodating at first, they lack medical ethics and they are only after taking your money and overly exaggerate the diagnosis to scare you and do necessary works. There are so many long appointments and they try to ramble you. Their fees are so expensive overly-accentuating your issues for their financial interest and not your personal health.

I think what bothered me most is that they find issues that are not real just to push you into spending money. They said I needed a root canal and I got that cavity fixed at another dentist with simply replacing a filling. There was no serious concern and they were going to do root canal on a tooth that did not need that! How unethical! I was also diagnosed with Periodontal pockets of 5 mm and general gum disease and was recommended to do deep cleans at 425 USD per quad so I was worried and I did 2 quads.

Then I went to other perios to get a second ( and 3rd) opinion and I was told my gums are in no need of deep cleans as I have normal 3mm pockets which do not constitute concern ( they checked both the side where I did deep clean and the other where I hadn't done and all was fine). So they basically just took my money inventing an issue. I cannot believe they are still in business and people rate them so well, in the past I had read some negative reviews and now it seems they are gone and only 5 star reviews are posted. There are so many other good dentists/periodontists in the city and so much more affordable, I would never trust these people ever again!

I absolutely love going to Embarcadero 4 Dental. It is the only Dental office that I feel a real combination of expert Dentistry with the kind of environment that I can actually relax in. They have really top notch equipment, a spa-like interior vibe, and really nice dentists and staff. I have been a patient of Dr. Gogle-Mach for about 10 years, and she has really helped me keep a really healthy set of teeth looking and feeling great. Thank you!

In a former life, I was a dental assistant and then I worked in dental insurance for 6 years. I love this office. Clean, professional, kind, compassionate, efficient. The staff is wonderful and always treat me like a queen. I highly recommend Dr. Gogol-Mach and her entire staff.

The women of this office are incredible! This review is a long time coming and I am not able to put into words how kind, amazing, professional and incredible they each are-I have had two implants done, many chips/cavities repairs and they have made my smile beautiful again. I am afraid of dental work and they have eased that fear and helped me in everyday possible.

If you are like me and really need dental work and an office that not only treats you fabulously but makes your smile shine, this is the place for you! Thank you Embarcadero 4 Dentistry you have changed my life by enhancing my smile and creating a space where one always feels welcome!

I moved out of the Bay Area and when I had my teeth cleaned last week at my new dentist's office the hygienist commented on how beautiful my dental work was. She was shocked when I told her that Dr Gogol-Mach had done all the work 17 years ago! When I started coming to Dr. Gogol-Mach I hadn't been to the dentist in years and I needed a lot of fillings. I am so happy that the investment I made in high quality care is still paying off all these years later.

I really like this place. Rather than just have me open my mouth and do a bunch of things to it, they actually took the time to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. Not only that, but every single person in this office is SUPER nice! Not in an annoying my boss makes me say hi to you, but a genuine niceness.

Run away. They quoted me MANY THOUSANDS of dollars worth of dental work, including partial crowns, which basically involve removing part of your tooth! When I got second and third opinions from highly rated and experienced dentists, they both separately agreed that the quote was outrageous and totally unnecessary. Just left the more experienced dentist's office with no more than $400 of stain cleaning and cavity filling.

It wasn't a big deal at all. On top of that, Embarcadero 4 had the nerve to suggest that I needed Botox to address a clenching issue. Again, second and third opinions totally disagreed. Botox?! I am so grateful that I did not let them touch my teeth. It's obvious that they were just trying to run up a totally unnecessary bill.

I came first to Embarcadero 4 Dental at the recommendation of a colleague. After a few appointments and new fillings, I came to realize that much of this work was not fundamentally necessary. For example, I had a couple of fillings that they claimed would, over time, shrink and therefore not fit into their cavity any longer. Like an idiot, I let them take out perfectly good fillings and replace them, although said fillings were perfect fine at the time.

This line of salesmanship progressed to the moment when the gum graft woman gave me a consultation that sounded like something out of a used car sales tactic workshop. I understand the value of preventive work, and I know my teeth aren't perfect, but I firmly feel that this establishment goes beyond the necessary into the optional but profitable, which for me is unethical.

I also resent this business's appropriation of a seemingly woman-centered schema, when their model exploits patients' lack of dentistry knowledge (and fear). And I'm amused at the idea of "a woman's touch, " when Dr. Gogol-Mach is the most heavy-handed dentist I've ever encountered.

My experience is with Dr Joan Johnson. For nearly six years I've been seeing Dr Johnson for routine care. I also did the Invisilign treatment through her office. I have been extremely satisified with her work and her personalized care through the years! Recently I broke yet another expensive retrainer tray. Dr Johnson quickly responded by making me a replacement in their office that day and shipped it to me overnight, at no cost!

I was only without for two days! I was very impressed and appreciated the individualized care and consideration on my budget. The front office staff - I've worked primarily with Isabel - have also been very accommodating with appointment times that meet my needs and also with help navigating the healthcare coverage and claims nonsense. My only complaint is location as it is no longer (as of four years ago) convenient to where I work or live, yet I still remain a loyal client. I guess that speaks for itself.

Due to an emergency, I went here because it's really convenient. Dr. Johnson did a great job and is very nice. Because I hadn't been to a dentist in some time, I scheduled appointments for all the recommendations they made. It cost me a few thousand. Still, I thought they were helpful and did good work. Flash forward 1 1/2 years and I've got a cleaning appt with this really aggressive hygienist who's telling me I need ANOTHER deep cleaning and is "concerned" that I probably need a gum graft. She's talking incessantly about all the work I need done and asks if I'd like to speak to a periodontist.

I wouldn't commit and tried to get out of the chair after my cleaning but she told me that Dr. Gogol-Mach was coming out for a consultation. Dr. Gogol-Mach and this hygienist start shoving stuff in my mouth, taking pictures and still talking incessantly about getting a gum graft. I was literally in tears I was so mad. That ordeal cost me $170 and after getting a second opinion, I actually don't need a gum graft. Robbers and liars.

I've been going to Dr. Johnson for 5 years now. I moved to Oakland two years ago but I can't imagine changing dentists. Dr. Johnson is funny and smart, so it's always a pleasure to visit, but -most importantly- she understands that dentistry is not fun and she goes way out of her way to make sure that you are not feeling discomfort.

I really trust her. Elisa, the dental hygienist is also terrific. As you get older, you start to realize that caring for your teeth is super-important. I have never felt that they recommended unnecessary work. It's their job to keep your mouth in its best condition, but they are fine if you decide to delay or avoid work. I have never felt that they were over-aggressive in suggested treatment.

Bottom line, they are pleasant, friendly, easy to talk to, sympathetic. I don't look forward to gong to the dentist, but I always look forward to seeing the professionals who work at Embarcadero 4 Dental.

Holy Smokes! I don't know what happenend to some of the people that have given bad reviews. However, I can say I have been going here for at least SEVEN years and I've never experienced any of those things! In fact, Drl Dorothy Gogol-Mach saved me in a sense. I went to a dentist quack that basically jacked up my teeth and did a crappy job.

When I say crappy job I mean, not cleaning out all the decay in my teeth which in turned had to be redone and also caused me to have TWO.I said T-W-O root canals as well. When I went back to confront said Dr. he was no longer in BUSINESS and the lady at the place wasn't speaking about it! Anyway, I digress. Dorothy really helped me through it because emotionally and monetarily it sucked!

Long story short - Dentistry with a Woman's Touch has always worked with me, listen to my concerns, helpful, and most of all HONEST! My teeth are healthy now! This doctors office use state of the art technology and make you as comfortable as possible! She is not cheap but, dammit she's good! To me, my health is worth it! I paid for cheap and paid the price too!

I mean I get it.no one wants to go to a bad dentist.but, when you have a cavity.how many people "shop around" and get 3 dentist opinions. I came here from a referral from a co worker who has been going here for TEN years and he loves her! Guess What! I love her too. The girls there that I've spoke with have all been gracious and wonderful! Eliza the Hygienist is wonderful too! Go and make your own assessment if your looking for a dentist and you'll see I'm right!

I went to this office a few times last year after a coworker recommended them as being part of our insurance network. After my third appointment (two consultations and a cleaning) I was told that I would need thousands and thousands of dollars worth of work done to my teeth. I've been to two other dentists since who agreed that I didn't need anything more than a bit more floss in my life.

To top it off, the staff member who confirmed that the practice was 'in network' was wrong, resulting in a $500 bill for x-rays and a cleaning. DON'T GO HERE unless you want to throw away a bunch of money on painful and completely unnecessary dental procedures.

I came to this office last may and had a great cleaning/check up with Emily Cheng. I came back 6 months later to find that Emily had left the practice. The new hygenist made me cry, the dentist then came in for 30 seconds tops, and said "teeth are good, but needs deep cleaning" and left. I had never heard of this alleged deep cleaning procedure, Emily, and all my previous dentists only had good things to say about my teeth.

Overall I found the office to be very AGGRESSIVE in terms of suggesting unnecessary treatments. I was able to get out of the deep cleaning by agreeing to come back sooner for another cleaning. They scheduled me for my cleaning for the last week in December. I then find out, two months later, that dental insurance only covers two cleanings per calendar year.

By scheduling me one week before the end of the year they essentially screwed me out of my insurance. I returned to the office stated my case and was able to get my account refunded. I also got a copy of my x-rays and told them I was leaving for another dentist. I appreciated this, and the receptionist seemed to truly care when I told her the dentists in her practice are mean, aggressive and have zero bedside manor. My coworkers have had similar experiences. I strongly encourage people to stay away!
