Dont trust the 5 star reviews. They offered me a (starbucks?) gift card on my way out if I would give them a good review. In 2019 I was new to the area and went in as a new patient seen by Dr. Jeevan Ghatnekar. He proceeded to tell me I had 8 cavities that needed filling. I've only ever had 2 in my entire life and see the dentist every 6 months. I was shocked and thought I must be suddenly calcium deficient or otherwise ill.

I was quoted for $1800 ($800 after insurance) to have the work done. After finishing roughly half the work, I decided to get the rest filled by my longtime dentist back in my hometown as I was there for winter break. My trusted dentist let me know it was all BS and I didn't require any work and to go find a new dentist. I've since found another reputable dentist in the Irvine area with 200+ reviews.

Not once have they mentioned the apparent plethora of cavities that Dr. Ghatnekar said I needed filled. The people working there seem extraordinarily nice, but I have a very tough time reconciling their great bedside manner while simultaneously feeling like I've been taken advantaged of after getting a second and third opinion on their work. Looking on yelp, it appears I'm not the only one this has happened to.

Dr. Ghatnekar is an outstanding dentist and has an excellent bedside manner. My first visit to him was for an extraction. The process was painless all the way from injecting the anesthetic to suturing the bone graft in place to final recovery. He followed up after hours on the day of the extraction and on the following day to make sure I was pain free.

Indeed I was. My second visit to him was about 6 months later for installing an implant in the opening left by the extracted tooth. This again was a 5-Star experience with no pain whatsoever after the anesthetic had worn off. Dr. Ghatnekar followed up the same evening to check on my comfort level and to reiterate the precautions to keep infection out and get the inflammation down.

His second call the day after the post had been put in place was comforting and reassuring. Today, his excellent assistant, Mina, who closely worked with him on both procedures removed the sutures with no discomfort and I now have the first part of the implant successfully in place. Thank you Dr. Ghatnekar.

Dr. Jeevan Ghatnekar is the best. The service is wonderful with a friendly staff. Had an implant done, didn't hurt and he took the time to call after hours to see how I was doing. Thank you!

My experience was very positive. Dr. Explained my procedure thoroughly, took as much time as I needed, to answer all of my questions, and did not rush. I was very pleased with the services he provided.

Thank you Dr. Ghatnekar for starting my braces! I appreciate the way you explained every step to me, and how gentle you were while working on my teeth. My overall experience was very comfortable physically and mentally as i got to watch Netflix while laid back and knowing exactly what was happening in my mouth as the braces were being placed. I greatly appreciate the friendly atmosphere starting with Tamara at the front desk along with Dr. G and his assistant! I finally started my implant process with Dr. Ghatnekar and have to say it was the best dental experience ever! I have a very busy schedule but they helped to accommodate all my challenges. Once I was in the office, I always felt calm, cool and collectives because of the confidence the whole team displayed. The many steps of the implant process were very easy and dare I say, pain free.

I now look forward to my final visit which will be the day I get back my whole pearly white smile back in place. If you are considering visiting Dr. Ghatnekar, I would wholeheartedly recommend his office for your dental procedure. I promise you will be very satisfied with your experience.

Dr Ghatnekar and his team are outstanding. They take great care in my dental health and have done an amazing job in straightening my overcrowded teeth.

I have been going to Dr. Ghatnekar for many years. Dr.ghatnekar is amazing and very thorough. He will explain you the things so nicely and clearly. I was highly impressed by his explanation and even he has a dedicated mini conference room in his office. He advised me to move some of my teeth with the help of orthodontist and later on He take over and put three nice implants.

My bite and life has improved and I got a smile on my face. Believe me when I send my after treatment pictures to my friends and other family members they couldn't believe. Thanks to dr.ghatnekar and his wonderful staff and Mina assisting Dr. Ghatkar is also very meticulous. I will highly recommend this place for your dental needs and there were more than five stars I will add few more. DB

This is my second review of Dr Ghatnekar my favorite dentist as in all my dental problems he has corrected what was hurting. In the past I have had the unfortunate experience to have dental work done by less experience and competent dentist. He recently removed a bridge with a serious infection which had been done by a young dentist just out of dental school.

He also replaced a upper front tooth that cracked horizontally which had been done by the same young dentist. Yesterday he cleaned a area on my lower jaw that was infected as well as removing a broken tooth. In addition he added bone material due to loss of bone. That could partially be due to the fact I am 84 years old. He will remove the stitches in my gums in three weeks. And in three months start the implant procedure. As you can see the patient is constantly aware of each procedure. most importantly, he listens to you. Francis l Rocha Jr

Moved to Irvine a couple years ago and started going to Dr Ghatnekar since my wife's family lives here and has been going to him for some time. I was not a fan of dentists before, but after visiting this office, I can say I no longer dread the dentist. He helped me get on the right track with removing soda and other harmful treats from my diet and I really enjoy being able to come in and get comfortable and watch the tv on the ceiling to distract any nerves. Highly recommend to anyone looking. Great dentist.

BEWARE! Came to this dentist as he came highly recommended by my boyfriend who had been seeing him for many years. Dr. Ghatnekar was personable at my initial appointment and had good bedside manner. He made a few recommendations about what I needed to get done, then after I left he emailed me a "treatment plan" recommending I get 9 different fillings, potentially costing me $1700 (and billing my insurance around $2500!).

I was shocked, considering I see a dentist every 6 months, take excellent care of my teeth, and have never had a dentist recommend that much work. I went and got a 2nd opinion from 2 different dentists who looked at his treatment plan, X-rays, and photos of my teeth, examined my mouth and told me I only needed 1 filling! My jaw hit the ground. I ended up going to this dentist who charged me $50 for the filling, Dr. Ghatnekar was going to charge between $99-150 per filling (in addition to billing my insurance).

My boyfriend sadly shared that he also recommended a similar amount of work be completed when he first started seeing him (and at each appointment thereafter), and my boyfriend trusted him and got the work done without questioning it. As a dentist, you have a responsibility to "do no harm" to your patients, and I'd say that recommending unnecessary dental work be completed is doing harm--the other dentist who gave me a 2nd opinion shared that doing this can cause complications, infections, mouth sensitivity, and other potential problems.

Safe to say my boyfriend and I will not be returning as it seems this dentist is more interested in padding his pockets as opposed to looking out for the well being of his patients.

Sadly, my previous post has been moved, to the website of a different dentist - one that I have never met. So I will try it again, and just to be clear, MY dentist is Dr. Jeevan Ghatnekar, on Osborn in Irvine. Our family has used this dental office since the day Dr. Ghatnekar moved his practice to Irvine. We have referred family and friends, and we ALL agree that Dr. Ghatnekar deserves even MORE than 5 stars!

The office is extremely clean, he and his staff are skilled and well trained in the latest technology. The staff is organized, warm and encouraging, and so prompt in handling every detail from scheduling to insurance claims to follow up calls whenever I have questions about anything relating to my care. This summer Dr. Ghatnekar did extensive work on my teeth (extractions and implants) and then placed a beautiful bridge, which he personally designed using cutting edge technology in conjunction with a high quality lab. If you are nervous about having ANY kind of dental work done, THIS is the dentist that you need to see! I gave him 5 stars every step of the way!

This is my third time visiting Dr. Ghatnekar's office, and I haven't been disappointed yet! She has a very competent, friendly, and super accommodating front office staff that have gone above and beyond to make sure my needs were met(including babysitting my 2 year old for nearly two hours because my sitter fell through). Dr. Ghatnekar is soft spoken, gentle, and caring. She took care of my 2 year old with no tears, and my 4 1/2 year old as well. Great family dental office all around.

I have been going to this dental office for the past several years since it was purchased from a good friend who is a dentist but passed away. The doctor was smart enough to keep the prior staff which made me comfortable remaining with him. It was a wise decision He truly cares about his patients and he provides his home phone number in case of emergency.

His staff is amazing. 'Julie and Wendy are always on top of things. Recently I had a problem with my gums and Hoy dental hygienist worked on me for two hours and I ended up in a little pain for a day but then my gums looked tremendous and all the bleeding stopped. They are on the high-endin terms of their pricing and sometimes my dental insurance doesn't cover a majority of the cost but worth every penny
