Horrible customer service as a new patient with new insurance. The front dest girl was extremely unhelpful and lost a new patient due to not knowing how to answer simple questions like "does my insurance cover this?" She rather have the patient call the insurance company and ask if each "code" is covered rather than her doing it since "they have to call the insurance company too" meaning she doesn't want to do her job.

If they expect the patient to call the insurance company and ask if each code is covered, then they should supply those code numbers long before the day of the appointment and not wait last minute to send paperwork to fill out (literally the day before the appointment). The level of incompetence was unbelievable. (also the other workers were extremely loud in talking about their personal life issues, and I found that to be really unprofessional)

I saw Galera after moving to Alameda in my late twenties. I had never had a cavity before in my life. She immediately found four. She explained that often happened after pregnancy so I believed her. Then, six months later, three more cavities. After filling the newest three, one of the fillings was giving me pain and she told me I needed a root canal.

Another one of her fillings on the back tooth was rough and made it difficult to floss. She got very defensive about the rough spot and suggested that I was being dishonest. She yanked the rough spot on my tooth with her scraper and told me I had developed another cavity there and on another spot and would have to come back in later to get them filled.

Later that night the whole filling fell out! The very next day I booked an appointment with another dentist who couldn't find any evidence of a cavity. And absolutely no reason for a root canal - that filling that hurt, that was because she left a high spot in the filling and every time I bit down it put pressure on the root. My new dentist sanded it down and no more pain. I've been with my new dentist for over five years now and not a single cavity. Coincidence? I don't think so. Beware of Galera's blatant over-treatment.

I have gone to Dr. Galera since she bought the practice years ago. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about the staff, the office and her detail to Excellent dentistry. Last year I chipped 2 different front teeth and they got me in on an emergency visit each time and my front teeth are holding up well and look better than the originals.

My childhood dentist experience was an absolute horror and gave me a serious anxiety that lasted years afterward. Even while I served 10 years in the Navy I never went to the dentist (other than entering and exiting the military). After I got out, I knew I needed to start going regularly, and by simple luck, I found Dr. Galera. I explained my fears and history and have had all my old fillings replaced & a few new cavities, but through it all. I never felt a thing. I have been a patient for almost 20 years and in all honesty, my only concern is.she will retire one day. and I will have to find someone else.

The BEST experience you can have in a dental chair! Dr. Galera's staff is very professional but also very friendly, calm and reassuring. The office is immaculate and often decorated for the season making a comfy setting. It is very apparent that Dr. Galera chooses only the most competent people to work in her office!

I'm so glad I found them. The staff is great. They make me feel at ease and very informing as well. I just switched my whole family to this office. I have no doubt they will do a great job.

She is amazing. I found her during a dental emergency since my dentist had retired. I am lucky I found her. She makes going to the dentist as pleasant as it can be. I especially like how she and her staff explain everything that is happening to ease my nervousness.

Let me say first that Dr Galena and her staff are exceptionally warm and friendly, though they can be a bit chatty and slow. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with a filling she gave me. I noticed right away that there was a big bump on the top of the filling, so the tooth was not smooth. And after a while I noticed that I could no longer floss next to this tooth either, the floss was getting stuck at a rough edge on the side of the filling.

I went to another dentist check it out, and based on the state of the filling they assumed it was very old, and recommended replacing it. Unfortunately insurance wouldn't cover it, since the filling was in reality only 6 months old. I will not go back to Dr Galera based on this experience.

Dr. Galera has been my dentist for over 20 years. She and her staff have always taken excellent care of me, as well as my wife. My cleanings and procedures have always been of the highest quality, comfortable and professional. Everyone in the office is friendly, and it has always been a pleasure to go there. I would highly and happily recommend Dr. Galera to anyone. I would never dream of going anywhere else.

I've been going to Dr. Galera for a few years now and I'd have to say that she's the best darn dentist I've seen! Her office is very clean & professional. Herself and her staff are very friendly and professional. The cleaning's I've received since seeing her have been among the best ever. I've seen some less than honest dentists in the past who've done their part to mess up my teeth a little, so it's awesome to have a dental office as good as Dr. Galera's taking care of me now! Thanks!
