Our holistic dental practice is located in Santa Rosa, California - just 60 miles north of San Francisco. We focus on a holistic approach to dental care with an emphasis on mercury-free dentistry in a latex-free environment. By tailoring treatment to the needs of each individual, we believe this allows our patients to receive the results they are looking for, not only esthetically, but in functionality as well as overall oral health. We understand that some patients have a fear of dentistry and it is our goal to offer the most comfortable and relaxing environment for treatment.
Services
Our office is a mercury free office and has been for many years. We do not place mercury amalgam fillings. The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology has an approved protocol for removing mercury amalgam. In our practice, we chose to follow this method. With improvements in technology and new research, we continually update and improve our methods.
Sonoma County is considering implementing Community Water Fluoridation (CWF). This alert is intended to apprise you of the issue and also offer some thoughts for your consideration. It is my hope that you will make an informed decision and offer feedback to those in control of our public water. Included in this email are several links for references and contact information.

After 20 plus years in Sonoma county, and many dentists, the care of Dr. Granath is exquisite. I have a child that had dental trauma from a pediatric dentist. I could not find a dentist that she felt safe with for many years, until Dr. Granath. She was completely at peace while Dr. Granath worked on her, trusting his care because he described every action that he was doing in a calm and respectful manner.
She did not need tv screens on the ceiling or toys or drugs, just a dentist who respected her and did not try to placate her with "baby talk". She also decided she also did not like being numbed. She had fillings in 3 quadrants without any numbing agents. The doctor's skill and precision was unmatched by any dentist that we have ever seen (this is my youngest of 4 children). Thank you, Dr. Granath. And thank you to your very kind and skilled staff.

I've been going to Dr Granath for over 15 years now and even though I'm now 1-1/2 hours away, I still make the journey since they are so professional, kind, knowledgeable, and cutting edge with the latest technologies to make dental cleanings and surgery safe and comfortable. Eileen is an amazing dental hygienist who makes it feel like I'm at a family reunion each time I visit. Highly recommend this practice.

Best dentist o have ever had. My mouth was so unhealthy when I found them and the dentist my insurance had recommended said I had about $17,000 of work to do. When I found Dr. Granath and his great team, I found I only needed three basic root canals snd two old cavities replaced. My teeth have been very healthy ever since and I feel great. I am very grateful for their team.
They are also the ones that figured out I'm allergic to fluoride and that's why my face had been breaking out my whole life. I had been prescribed medicine for rosacea that was a missed diagnosis.

This was my first visit as a first patient of Dr Granath. I found the entire experience very positive. Unfortunately I was 10 minutes late got my appointment, but I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, and taken care of well by Erica, with her welcoming smile and professionalism. I would recommend this dental office to anyone!

We drive 2 hours for our dentist. They are kind, welcoming, clean, and provide a top notch holistic dental practice. My husband gets very nervous about going to the dentist and this is the only practice where he feels so comfortable he even looks forward to his appointment. We high recommend Dr Granath's office.

Professional. High quality of Higene. Advanced. Friendly. Very helpful. Trustworthy. Love. And it's probably worth mentioning that there's always an air of egalitarian flowing around in the place. My experiences with dentists are always a scary one. It's seems like they are more happy and interested to just pluck off my teeth, get the nerves out and get things done.
As a human being living in the modern time, my pride tells me I would like to age/die with a bunch of real teeth leaving in my mouth/ skull. And Dr. Oloph certainly lives up to my expectations. The Dr was introduced to me by my boss as a naturalist. Like the Doctor's approach would probably would better suited my perception of life etc. And the Dr did.
There's one time I have a bunches of teeth aching. It was so painful that I couldn't sleep, couldn't munch etc. The pain even woke me up at night and I had to do self-dialogue to make myself better. I was freaking out because I thought since they are aching, they gotta be plugged off now. The staffs were very helpful. They returned my calls, msgs, and emails right away.
As it turned out, they were just being sensitive. It was later resolved by using repid pain relief toothpaste. Then there's one time I lost my precious ring (its a finger telly counter to be precise) in the clinic and they found it the next day. They are all very helpful, Melanie, Mouzain, Susan and more. (Sorry, I am still new to the clinic. I first visited it around the time the covid started.
But so much had happened that I think there would still be some credibility in my review) Other things I love about the clinic included their products- I love their mouthwash and floss (it's got nice flavors). Other tips I would give or recommend included reading their posts. The clinic always sends out updates/ news about where they are at. It's always bright and useful.
Make your appointments ahead of time because their schedule is always occupied, which is good. We want good clinics to bloom and stay in the local area. In Thailand ( I am not a Thai btw- but was raised in Thailand), they say long live the king. Here, my thankful heart to Dr Oloph, and all the members working so hard to make it a better place, I would say, Long live to you all.

As always the experience is state of the art, holistic and friendly. Their Covid precautions were very thorough and made me feel very comfortable. From the blanket to take of the chill, to the most current instruments, your experience will pleasant as possible. And I always feel like the most is being done to protect my teeth as well as my overall health. Great job!

Dr. Granath and his staff were friendly, courteous and well organized. I immediately felt at ease. I have had frightening allergic reactions to certain dental materials in the past and had to search for a new dentist when I recently moved to Santa Rosa. Dr. Granath was highly recommended by another "regular " dentist that couldn't treat me because they didn't use biocompatible materials. I'll begin my treatment plan soon and will post more reviews as I progress.

For the first time in 51 years I have followed through from start to finish at Dr. Granath's office. I had a massive fear of dentists and I'd often leave a practice before getting all the recommended work done. Dr. Granath is absolutely the best dentist I've ever been to. (left a certain holistic dentist in Sebastopol after the practice went downhill) He is knowledgeable, quick, efficient, kind, patient and saved a tooth from a root canal that another dentist said I would need.
His holistic approach matches my own sensibilities. His staff are always cheerful and welcoming and the office is warm and inviting. From someone who has had major dental trauma from childhood I highly recommend Dr. Granath's practice. You won't be disappointed!

I've been going to Dr Granath for over 20 years. He was the first dentist I had ever been to that didn't hurt me. And 20+ years later I can still say that! Completely trustworthy and meticulous. Explains everything he's doing. I'm relaxed during procedures! I've always taken my son here. My sister and her kids go here. Highly recommend!

Amazing dentist. Dr. Granath takes care of my family. He was highly recommended by another top doctor, who made it known that the wrong dentist can cause all sorts of health problems. We had been waiting to find the right one. So glad to finally find a dentist who we can trust and will take care of my whole family!

Such a safe haven in this confusing time! I cannot speak highly enough of this practice. Everyone in the office is incredibly kind and competent. The Covid precautions were impeccable. I felt completely safe. Above all, I felt I got truly professional dental care. Well other dentists wanted me to do invasive and expensive procedures, Dr. Granath's assessment was simple and straightforward. I have never received such professional dental assistance. I am so grateful!

The office takes proper precautions at this time, I felt very safe there. I love my hygienist Lily, she is the best! So knowledgeable about EVERYTHING regarding oral and overall health, very gentle yet thorough. I have very sensitive teeth, and she works to keep my experience as comfortable as possible. The Dr has a calm disposition which is very nice to be around, especially at a dental office. Highly recommend this office, I drive 2 and a half hours to get there!

I have been a dental patient of Dr. Granath for about 10 years. He recently began insisting that I get X-rays taken, saying that he would not continue to treat me if I refused. I took the time to do some research to present to him my concerns about doing routine X-rays when I had no symptoms or pain, and to ask him to reconsider or else let me know why he disagreed.
I sent him the following research: I understand that you want to take X-rays in order to continue treating me as a dental patient. However, my research suggests that this position does not seem to be justified by the available evidence. Specifically, the official recommendations of the American Dental Association are that routine X-rays in asymptomatic patients are not supported by the evidence.
According to the Journal of the American Dental Association: "There is little evidence to support radiographic exposure of all dentulous areas of the oral cavity in search of occult pathoses in the asymptomatic patient, " and "Dentists should not prescribe routine dental radiographs at preset intervals for all patients." See: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0002817714643221 This view is echoed in an article by Dr. Michael Greger (author of the book How Not to Die): "Dentists should consider the justification for every exposure. Furthermore, dentists should not prescribe routine dental X-rays at preset intervals for all patients (such as every 6 months or year, etc.). Says who? Says the official recommendations of the American Dental Association.
There is little evidence to support irradiating people looking at all the teeth in search of hidden problems in asymptomatic patients. Accordingly, dentists should select patients wisely--only take X-rays when there is patient-specific reason to believe there is a reasonable expectation the X-rays will offer unique information influencing diagnosis or treatment." See: https://nutritionfacts.org/2014/02/18/are-dental-x-rays-safe/ I requested that Dr. Granath review my research to address my concerns.
I asked him to reconsider his position, given that it was in opposition to the recommendations of the American Dental Association. I volunteered to sign whatever was necessary to take personal responsibility for my decision. And I asked him to please let me know his thoughts. I received no response for over a week. I finally called the office. I was informed that Dr. Granath had received my email.
I asked what his response was. I was told he "had no response." At first I was confused but it quickly became clear to me that he was just flat out refusing to respond to me, that he refused to speak to me on the phone and he had no intention of returning my call. If I hadn't called to inquire, his plan was clearly to just ignore my email completely.
His position was clear: I could submit to X-rays or I could go f--- myself. I have to say, I was shocked. If he had a different opinion or a reason why he disagreed with the recommendations of the American Dental Association and let me know why he disagreed, I would at least respect his opinion and could make an informed decision about my own dental care. Refusing to even respond to me or take seriously the research above and using his secretary to stone wall me in this bizarre way is not acceptable behavior for a health care professional.
That is no way to treat a patient's legitimate, well researched and respectfully voiced concerns. After being a patient for 10 years and having spent tens of thousands of dollars at his office, I found his refusal to even so much as respond to me to be not only shockingly unprofessional but also obnoxiously arrogant. Dr. Granath has lost not only my business but also my respect.
