Our goal is always to help our patients maintain their oral health and to care for and protect their natural teeth. Maintaining oral health includes good home care and regular visits to our office for preventive care, which includes oral examinations and cleanings. Even with excellent care, however, teeth and gums can be susceptible to disease, infection, cavities, cracks, or other forms of damage.
John K. Vargas, D.D.S. received his degree from the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery. After completing his training, Dr. Vargas pursued an additional year of study at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he received extensive training in restoring implants, cosmetics and other crown and bridge procedures.
An oral examination is a visual inspection of the mouth, head, and neck, performed to detect abnormalities. Radiographs allow for a more complete examination, helping the doctor to detect cavities, problems in existing dental restorations, gum and bone recession or other abnormal conditions within the mouth, head and neck area.
Our office specializes in cosmetic dentistry. This means that we not only pay attention to the health and function of your teeth, but we also pay close attention to aesthetics. We want you to maintain great oral health but we also want you to have a beautiful smile and the confidence to smile often!

I have been a patient of Dr Charnas since I moved to NYC over 10 years ago. He and the entire staff have been everything you could ever ask for in terms of service and professionalism. This past Friday I needed some emergency work done and was tended to by one of Dr Charnas' associates. He too was attentive, kind, caring and thorough. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough.

Never have I been to an office with such warm, friendly and professional staff. From the minute I walked in, a woman came out from behind the desk and asked everyone waiting if we would like anything, offering to hang out coats. I was taken on time. I had my teeth cleaned, I actually closed my eyes. Dr. Charnas came in, just the nicest, so professional, explaining what needed to be done. I just can't say enough! Greatest experience. Greatest staff, so grateful to have found this practice.

I visited the office for the first time today and could not have asked for a better experience. Even before my appointment, the staff was so nice and helpful in setting up my appointment and when I arrived today - they were just as friendly and welcoming. I went in for a cosmetic consultation and expected them to spend 5 or 10min with me but Karl and Dr. Charnas spent probably 40minutes walking me through every step of a treatment plan including a detailed breakdown of all pricing and a timeline. Explaining everything!

Honestly, I went in thinking that *maybe* I'd get some work done, but after my visit, I was so impressed with everything about the practice and am so confident they can give me great results, I've already booked my first appointment.

I never felt so comfortable at my dentist appointment in my entire life which prevented me from going when I should. I came here and have been going there and feel this is my forever place now. Everyone from desk reception to dentists & dental hygienists make it so easy to be there and I actually look forward to my visits. When I get a cleaning it's pain free as the hygienist I have is very skilled. I am very happy to have found this place.
