We are an Oceanside/Carlsbad area dental practice devoted to restoring and enhancing the natural beauty of your smile using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures that will result in beautiful, long lasting smiles! A high standard of excellence in personalized dental care enables us to provide the quality dental services our patients deserve.
Printing them, filling them out and bringing them with you will allow us to attend to your medical needs more quickly than completing them on your arrival. For your convenience, we accept cash, personal checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit. Payment is expected at the time services are performed. When more extensive dental care is necessary, financial arrangements can be made with our office. As a service to our patients, our practice accepts most dental insurance programs, including non-managed care, indemnity (traditional) and PPO out-of-network. We are not part of any managed care network. Our accounting staff will prepare all the necessary forms for your dental benefits.

I enjoy coming here. Everyone is kind, friendly and professional at this location. Dr. Duanes is very gentle and seems to really care for his patients all while doing a thorough cleaning or check-up. I have a low tolerance for pain or for dentists that rush dental work. Since I started going here, he has always been patient and taken his time to fully examine and care for my teeth, allowing me to feel at ease. I also never end up being there too long. He is my favorite dentist.

Most disorganized dentist office I've been too constantly rescheduling me. Made me leave and come back in the middle of a procedure to take their stupid lunch while I was still drugged up. Clearly their lunch is more important than their job. I won't be going to this dentist again. VERY DISORGANIZED.

I have been going to Dr Duenas for twenty years. They have the process worked out to make the whole process smooth and easy for the semi annual cleaning. Appointment reminders a few days before, friendly staff, and only a short wait, if any when you get to the office. The husband and wife dentist team do all the work including the cleaning, so it is high quality. Top notch outfit.

DO NOT USE THIS DENTISTS OFFICE. This dentist gave me an after-insurance quote for a crown so I had the work done based on that amount because it fit into my budget. They later sent me a bill stating insurance didn't cover it. I've never seen that before. Is this the only dentist's office that doesn't know how to tell ahead of time if a simple crown is covered or not?
I held off paying because I didn't have the nearly $500 they billed me for and they said they would call my insurance to try to straighten it out. Nothing happened and they later sent it to collections. Now it's a ding on my credit report and I was laid off from my job due to COVID so I'm unemployed and really can't afford to pay it. I guess I am just screwed. Thanks Mira Costa Dental!

Dr. Duenas and his team are truly amazing! I had a terrible toothache that caused the whole left side of my face to swell up. Since it was a Saturday, midst COVID-19 closures/stay at home orders, and I hadn't established regular dentist, I was in a total bind and in a ton of pain. I called dozens of dentists and most of them couldn't see me for an emergency appointment for days. Then, right before I was about to give up, I called Mira Costa Dental.
After hearing what was going on, they made it a priority to get me in that day. During the appointment, they went the extra mile to be gentle around the area I was feeling pain while still making it possible to get the x rays needed to assess my teeth. The pain I was feeling was associated with an infection caused by a wisdom tooth and after being in so much pain, I was ready to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed to avoid going through the same thing again. Dr. Duenas referred me to a specialist for the extraction.
Him and his team quickly sent the X-Rays to the specialist, who then called me over the weekend to schedule my consultation and surgery. Dr. Duenas also made sure I had antibiotics and pain medicine prescribed in the mean time so I wouldn't be in so much pain. I had my extraction just three days later (could have been two, but I had work to wrap up so I couldn't take Monday off) and it was a very positive experience.
I'm so thankful for Dr. Duenas and his team for being there for me and look forward to going to them for all my dental needs (hopefully no more painful ones)! I highly recommend Mira Costa Dental!

It is very rare when I take it upon myself to respond to reviews that I come across, but a review I just recently discovered about this practice was very upsetting that I felt the upmost urge to respond. Ruben Rodriguez, most of the employees that have worked at this office have been a friend or family member of mine and not once have they ever mentioned any type of disrespect or mistreatment by the doctor.
Its truly sad that if you felt this way that you did not address it right away with the staff and the doctor. Instead you choose to walk away and make your own assumptions to the situation at hand. Before you attempt to discredit a FAMILY practice who dedicate themselves to their patients and well-being of their employees you should attempt to provide an example for society by telling the truth and not resorting to lies. I have been a patient for over 10 years now. Dr. Duenes and all the staff are so competent and professional. It's so easy to make an appt. and they never keep you waiting. They only suggest treatments only when necessary. They have been very flexible with insurance and billing, and when I haven't had dental insurance they work with me. I'm so grateful I found them!
