With nearly 30 years of experience, Joelle Balmir-Thevenin, DDS is a compassionate dentist who offers comprehensive, high quality gentle dental care in her state-of-the art practice. Dr. Balmir-Thevenin completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 1986 at Faculte d'Odontologie in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

I have been a patient of Dr. Thevenin for many years. The Dr.'s entire staff also have been in the practice for years. The practice is very patient friendly and treat you as a person in their work and in the pocket book. Good dentist, caring qualified staff, and front office personal are great and willing to help patients instead of just taking your money. They CARE!

I went in for a cavity. They did not file authorizations in timely or orderly fashion. I ended up getting a couple other procedures including an extraction on a different tooth about a week later. Over a month later they finally filled the cavity. I called my insurance to see what delayed the authorizations and was told the Balmir-Thevenin & Associates had not submitted them up until the day I called the dental office to complain.
The dental office vehemently denied not filing the authorization even after I was shown proof by my insurance. I then find out from my insurance company that I shouldn't have been charged two of the co-payments. Furthermore, they billed my insurance for services on dates I wasn't in their office. Be very careful when signing the Consent for Treatment.
They ask you to sign on a digital signature pad without allowing you to see the actual document. Ask them to print it, that way they can not digitally edit it afterwards. Very shady, unscrupulous, and disorderly dental office. Beware! Rebuttal to Balmir-Thevenin's post below: As suggested, I reached out to your office and requested a refund for the 2 co-payments which were not supposed to have been charged.
Your office staff informed me that they were not co-payments as I was originally told but were up charges for services that were not covered by my insurance. Services which I did not ask for and doubt if one of them was rendered. I wish your staff would have been honest with me, explained what the charges were for, and had given me ability to accept or reject them.
Instead I was blatantly lied to by being told they were co-payments. Moreover, I recently went to my new dental provider and was told that the filling I received at Balmir-Thevenin and Associates was not done properly. As for the fictitious last name I used, my actual last name is Centurion. With all the details left in my original review, I am pretty sure Balmir-Thevenin could have easily ascertained or knew which patient this post was pertaining to. Patients are not businesses open to the public and should not be required to post their actual names for reviews on the world wide web.
I disclose my name only because I did not want Balmir-Thevenin to negate the validity of my review by claiming that I was not a patient of record. An underhanded ploy that Balmir-Thevenin used with my post and some one else's negative review. If a person goes out of their way to leave a negative review for a doctor it is highly unlikely they are not an actual patient. On the other hand, positive reviews could be solicited.

I have been a patient of Dr. Balmir-Thevenin for many years. The office clerks and technician are very attentive and friendly. I was disappointed with the last visit. I was called numerous times to expedite my appointment. Upon the appointment date for a cleaning. The technician advised that I would need a deep cleaning, not covered by the insurance.
I was upset that I was not advised earlier of the expense. I cancelled my sitting that same day, and decided to take my business elsewhere. I received notice that same day in the mail from the same office, advising that Balmir-Thevenin, Joelle DDS will no longer be taking my insurance. Yet, they were expediting my visit in order to cash in on my expense loosing total trust.
