Our family-oriented practice is built on the love for children and the desire to make them comfortable with their dental care. We view each child as a unique individual who must be treated as such to accomplish our goals of a positive dental experience and quality of care. Our goal is to establish a life long relationship of trust and confidence with you and your child.

Knocked out (avulsed) teeth. If one of their teeth has been knocked out, especially a permanent one, it is important that you come in. It is also important to know that we may be able to replant their tooth. If you are able to find the tooth, be careful not to touch the root. Store the tooth in milk until you are able to get your child to the office.
Your child has experienced dental trauma or an infection. When their tooth experiences damage or the interior has become infected, we will do everything possible to save it. In some cases, a crown may be enough, or the tooth may need a root canal. However, there are some instances when neither of these treatments will help.
Some medications may cause dry mouth, while others contain extra sugars. Both of these factors turn their mouth into an ideal environment for oral bacteria to thrive. Some children are prescribed a special diet that is high in starches (and other carbohydrates). These can stick to their teeth and make them more prone to dental issues. If your child has physical limitations, this can interfere with their ability to properly brush their teeth.
We strive to schedule an appropriate time for each patient family that visits Puyallup Pediatric Dentistry, taking into account the individual needs of each child. While we understand that emergencies happen, and it's difficult to plan for the unexpected, it's important that we respect the time of our staff, as well as those patients who may be waiting for an appointment with us.

Dr. Hersey and his entire staff are always so kind and wonderful with my son. I found Dr. Hersey after having a horrible experience at another office where they wanted to pull my sons two front teeth (due to cavities). Dr. Hersey went above and beyond doing what he could to save my sons front teeth from having to be pulled (and he did!). Dr. Hersey himself told me he would care for my son as if he was his own which meant so much after having such a bad experience elsewhere. I cannot recommend his office enough! So grateful we found them!

The group at Puyallup Pediatric Dentistry did amazing with my kids! We all went in with a bit of nerves for their first time at the dentist, but the ladies taking care of my boys were so nice and kind. They communicated so good with my kids; telling them everything they were going to do, showing all the tools and how they worked. I was very impressed.
And Dr. Hersey was so polite and good with including me in the process. Double thumbs up! My oldest is already talking about "next time he goes to the dentist." Also, the receptionist were very nice and truly looked like they enjoyed doing what they do! A+ for customer service!

Dr. Hersey and all the ladies in his office do a great job. I was pretty nervous and hesitant at first not knowing how my daughter would react with seeing a dentist. They did such a great job she asks when she can go back. We just finished our visits for some fillings and she doesn't like shots what so ever and they were able to do all the treatments without her even freaking over it. They do a great job!

Thank you Dr. Hersey and the team for the incredible experience you give my sons at your office. That explains the 500+ five stars your office has. I would recommend any one to bring kids to see you and your team. Your kind heart and gentle soul is immeasurable. Your team is top notch. I couldn't ask for more. My kids love the kids door bringing in a little Disney experience.

Puyallup Pediatric Dentistry is amazing! My daughter absolutely loves going to the Dentist because of Dr Hersey and the wonderful and welcoming staff. My daughter feels comfortable and acknowledged every moment she is there and that is so important especially nowadays. Also, the office is absolutely adorable

We could not have asked for a better experience! The hygienist was very calm and explained everything so that nothing was scary. When there was a nervous moment she took a moment to reassure before moving on. This start to the appointment made it successful! The DR is just as calm and relaxing for the patient!

I found Dr. Hersey after having multiple issues with another children's dental clinic. My son was very apprehensive about visiting the dentist because of his previous experiences at the othet dentist. Dr. Hersey was absolutely the best choice we could have ever made. He was thorough, explained his concept and approaches to dental care, he was reassuring, funny, personable and actually cared.
I cant say enough about how happy I am to have found him. My only regret is not finding him sooner so my son wouldn't have had to endure the pain from the other dentist. I highly reccomend dr. Hersey

After coming to Dr. Hersey's office for a second opinion visit, I can honestly say that this is hands down the best dental office I have ever stepped foot in. My two year old child has special medical needs, and I felt that the level of attention, concern, and respect for us was by far the best I could have asked for. The staff was professional and welcoming from the front desk, to the dentist himself (and everyone in between!) As a mother of a child with severe allergies, it is comforting to be able to have a real conversation where I didn't feel rushed, pressured, or like I was being forced into something that I wasn't comfortable with for my child. Scheduling over the phone was easy, and upon explaining the reason for our visit, we were given a time slot at the end of the day to ensure we could spend time with the dentist without interruption.
We did a thorough conversation of the issues we were seeking a second opinion on, an oral exam, one x-ray (which we didn't get at our first dentist!) and a goodie bag for dental hygiene products and a childrens toy. The x-ray was shown to me, and I was also given the opportunity to look inside my child's mouth with assistance. I was never made to feel bad regarding the dental issues my child has, and was included in all aspects of the visit.
I felt that the follow up plan was developed with my input and with significant care for my child and family. In addition, this dentist office is out of my insurance network, so I paid for service in full and was pleasantly surprised to discover that the costs are also reasonable and affordable. The office itself is clean, well lit, and conducive to a "playful" atmosphere for children. Having a private exam room for families that require more dialog made me feel at ease discussing my child's medical needs and history.
I did not feel rushed at any point, and felt that the time spent with me was above and beyond, truly excellent service! If I could go to this pediatric dentist myself, I would in a heartbeat!
