Transcendentist

Best dentist experience of my whole life! I had developed a bit of a fear towards going to the dentist because of pain, but Transcendentist completely reshaped my thinking. The nurses and doctors were so kind and calming, and the procedure itself was much more gentle than anything I had ever experienced.

I have needed every kind of help with my teeth over the years- grafts, crowns, implants, root canals. from surgeries to aesthetic fixes. I have seen so many professionals. But I've never felt so taken care of as I do in the totally capable and gentle hands of Dr. Praj. I feel uniquely positioned to recommend a dentist and I recommend her with literally not a single reservation.

Not only is the work beautiful and nearly pain-free (which is like magic) the whole experience feels less like a business transaction than a service aimed at a patient's well being. Such a rare feeling. Wonderful doctor, wonderful office.

Lindsey at the front desk is an absolute delight! I have never felt more accommodated for or understood by a dentist or dental staff in my life (I have extremely sensitive teeth). Just lovely all around and so happy to have found them!

I do not recommend this business. They charge privately for all services and bill your insurance for you to get reimbursed at a later date. This was not pleasant but I was willing to accept even though I have dual insurance coverage and would not have to pay any portion. The unpleasant part of being a patients is you plan and budget to pay for a services such as exam and cleaning and when I showed up for the appointment they added X-rays and others services as well.

Not a problem just would have been good to know about the added expenses I would be charging on my credit card. The bigger concern.the doctor did not review my X-rays with me and advised that I have a crown that is decaying which she seen on my X-rays and needed attention. Also advised to remove my silver fillings and replace them. What she did not expect was my response that I DO NOT HAVE ANY CROWNS IN MY MOUTH.

Then she said well they must be a partial. Huh? Not even that. I had a clear small filling sealer which still was 98%+ of my tooth still in tact. Wow. My childhood dentist who retired last year informed me that any good dentist will show you your X-rays and identify the problem with you, if not don't trust them. I mentioned to her that I would like to think and consult with my childhood dentist and she gave me the most rough and poor cleaning experience ever. Parts were so painful from the scraping I had to stop her twice.

Then upon exiting, she refused to complete the exam and discussion then stated perhaps I should go back to my retired dentist for further service. And that they would email my X-rays to me. It's sad that Dr Pokeras the founding dentist left such a reputable establishment in the hands of such an undesirable dentist. Obviously I will not be returning here.

I had a wonderful experience at Transcendentist! The office is lovely and inviting, and the staff is so kind! There are nice touches like cold water or hot tea and blankets during your exam/cleaning. They have state-of-the-art technology I haven't seen anywhere else. They are incredibly kind and patient, and explain everything they're doing. Overall, highly recommend!

I am so happy I found Transcendentist! The office is a calm sanctuary, the dentist (Dr. Praj) explained step by step what my treatment plan should be, and gave great recommendations as I explained some concerns over non-dental but health issues that could be related. I even got a text after my procedure to remind me of aftercare recommendations. I highly recommend Transcendentist! They care!

Everything and everyone at Transcendentist is 5 stars in my book. From start to finish you are welcomed, made comfortable, and provided the highest level of care. I saw Dr. Praj for a laser treatment for what I felt like was an oncoming cold sore that I get at least once a year. thank god for these treatments because it never erupted! I am cold sore free thanks to Dr. Praj.

The laser treatment is not painful at all. in fact I barely felt it. The sensation is just a little warm almost like a warm washcloth on your lip.if you feel it at all honestly. I will continue to recommend this place to everyone I know. They are AMAZING! If you are not already a patient here you are missing out.

Very unique office with great staff. I needed a chip fixed in my front tooth. I am very happy with the work Dr. Ruhi Sangha did. She matched the composite perfectly and the final results looked great. Lindsey the receptionist was very kind and helpful. I wish I could remember the hygienists name but he was great too. The service felt above and beyond any dentist I've been to before.

I was offered a warm blanket and neck support which made the experience very comfortable. Will definitely be back in the future if I need any more dental work done. I highly recommend this office.

The Transcendentist team is really amazing. Dr. Praj truly takes time in answering your questions and providing options that available. I love how they are environmentally conscious as well and minimizing the need to throw garbage into landfills. Overall, I'm very pleased with the care I have been getting their team.

This is the best dentist they make everything feel comfortable and even have warm blankets when you are cold. I have had fillings, teeth whitening and a crown implant done here and I am very satisfied with all of my experiences! I actually look forward to my cleanings twice a year because the staff and the appointments are truly enjoyable and this is coming from someone who used to fear dental visits. I'm so glad I found Transcendentist!

Both dentists, and everyone else in the office including the assistants and office manager, are highly skilled and very personable. Dr. Sangha does a great job of explaining issues, treatment options and rationale. The office has a warm feel, the equipment is very up-to-date and I have great confidence in their dental care. I am using Transcendentist for my general dental care as well as for a sleep apnea dental device; both dentists are certified in this area. My highest recommendation.

I went in for a zoom whitening treatment. I'm not a fan of going to the dentist but the whole time, I felt very comfortable and they provided me with a numbing gel, which made the whole experience so much more bearable. I have to give a shoutout to the dentist assistant who was very friendly, pleasant and professional. THANK YOU for being gentle. She checked on me constantly, made sure I felt comfortable, provided me with a blanket and a bell in case the whitening caused sensitivity. The office itself felt clean, modern and zen. I'd definitely go back for the zoom whitening service.

This is the best dentist I have ever been to. Everyone from the front desk to hygienist to the doctor herself were excellent, kind, gentle, and explained everything. They gave me pillows and warm blankets for my comfort. I came here to get my mercury fillings replaced because they practice the safe mercury removal technique. This is a very professional and knowledgeable group. I highly recommend them and their gentle touch,

Best dentist ever! Wonderful, serene, meditative office environment and wonderful dentists! I couldn't be more satisfied with a medical/dental experience. Hepa filtration throughout.they even use a mouth suction appliance for the duration of the treatment. I felt very very safe, very cared for and my mouth feels fresh again!

When a company says they are green they are saying they have a higher standard and calling to bring about positive change in the pe0ple they deal with on a daily basis. The reason there aren't more dentists like this is that some people don't have that standard or reality. I purposely search for green companies to support in all facets of my life.

The people who work at Transcendentist are people who have pushed the envelope to a new standard. Let's first talk about the people who run it. They get it, they understand it, and they work hard to maintain a standard that most people don't even get. The personalities of this company are, without any doubt, consistently striving to make things better and make the experience better with green health care.

The ladies in the office are always smiling, always polite, and even tempered. There are two people who stand out, the assistant to my dentist, John and my dentist, Dr. Kamat. John is Mr. Do-it-All, this is from my observation, this is what I see when I am at the dentist office. John is always polite, he is efficient, he works like a sculptor, he is always on top of his job. John is an amazing employee, he is the heart of this team, if he wasn't part of this team it wouldn't have the same quality or care.

I commend John and his professionalism and his serious people skills. I hope they realize who they have, he is worth his weight in gold, and that is because he is part of the big picture. My dentist, Dr. Kamat is special. She tells you what she is going to do, she is not happy or finished until she gets the results she wants. I look back over 40 years of dealing with dentists I was really upset that I didn't have this quality of dentist until now.

Everything that went wrong was done by another dentist who didn't have the same standards. I can't think of too many places I look forward to going to and Transcendentist is one of them. This is a serious team that other dentists need to mimic, because of their standards and professionalism. This is a good team. I wish I met them when I had all my teeth, they even know what kind of music I like, when I come in and sit in that chair, Lee Morgan is playing.

After re exam yesterday DR Gary admitted the teeth are wrong, changing color from MOISTURE Here is his quote: At your convenience we can retreat #'s 8 and #'s 9: My quote is $500.00 for each I don't plan on contacting your previously treating dentist. You are free to contact them and let them know what is happening. I am not interested in legal battle or having you make it rite I can not engage in the negativity But you ruined my teeth and now it will take me $1000 dollars and more time, to fix your mess Thank god I got aware of your skills before I let you do more work on me Pockrass would be horrified.

I spent thousands and thousands of dollars with him, his work was all but one perfect, and he made that rite, admitted it was not great BLESS YOU I hope you learn how to do your job in the future or sell the business Because you defaced me And caused me a great deal of anguish time discomfort and horror.

Best dental office EVER. Besides the bio dentist in Greenbrae. I went in to Transcendentist this morning and got a lot of much needed work done. They made me so comfortable and took their time and explained everything Great office super nice caring staff.

Highly professional staff! One of the hygienists named Victor is probably one of the greatest and professional members I've had the pleasure of interacting with!

I needed a dentist in the East Bay but had trouble choosing among the many dentists with favorable reviews. I believe strongly in sustainability believing it is not only reflected in actions(material selection, conservation, etc.) but consciousness so I decided on Transcendentist. I almost cancelled after reading negative reviews about extra dental work but decided to see for myself.

The initial appointment was two hours and included a thorough exam, detailed pictures, an explanation of the status of my mouth, a treatment plan and a good cleaning including gum measurements. I had never actually viewed my teeth on a screen before this appointment. When it came time to pay I was presented with a folder explaining the relationship between our oral health and our overall health and a treatment recommendation including a first step involving the replacement of two fillings.

I think it is at this point that the negative reviews come into play and I think I understand why. The Doctor did a great job of showing me what was happening in my mouth but did not describe a treatment plan. Instead that was given to me at the end by the receptionist who really could not answer the questions I had. One suggestion would be for the Doctor to explain the proposed plan, prioritize the work to be done and explain why some issues are more urgent than others.

I don't have insurance and so appreciate knowing what work must be done but also that some issues can wait longer than others. EG. I learned that the closer a cavity is to the root the sooner the work should be done. I actually could see this. There was no pressure to schedule the appointment on the spot in fact I only scheduled my cleaning and have yet to schedule the filling appointment. The receptionist and the rest of the staff were very polite and eager to help. Yes I would return.

I don't even know where to start with this place. First of all the prices are ridiculous. I was new to paying 100% up front and creating a claim with my insurance company and Tawny (the lady at the front desk) knew that. I was apprehensive and wanted to look into it more but she ensured me that she would confirm everything with my insurance company and explain it to me in full detail.

She quoted me $2,026 worth of work (not counting the cleaning) and confirmed that I would get 80% of that back. WRONG. Not even close. I blame myself for not looking into it but I figured this was her job, I trusted Transcendentist (based on my boyfriend's experience) and I took her word for it. In the middle of the procedure I asked for nitrous.

They put it on for less than 10 min, I told them it was just oxygen and they pulled it off and began to finish up only half way through. They said the procedure took longer than expected and I had to return the following day. I paid $119.00 for that nitrous so I wanted to be credited back. Tawny said that I could use it the following day and not be charged.

I came back the next morning and she told me the nitrous wasn't available and they would NOT credit me the money because the work the previous day was more expensive than they thought. Keep in mind this office has all of the latest and greatest technology and they not only should have been able to foresee the exact work it would have taken but I signed a piece of paper agreeing to the initial price.

After all of this was said and done, they never submitted the claim to my insurance company. I had to call them 3 times to get it done. This was a complete nightmare. The work they did was great however, I will never go back. My boyfriend has spent about $20,000 and was going to do the same for me. Additionally, we were both going to use Transcedentist for Invisalign.

We will definitely be taking our business elsewhere. At the very least, I hope someone from this office reads this and credits me my $119 (Aug. 16, 2017) that was basically ripped off!

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience here. I would comment both to the quality of experience- going to a dentist who is eco conscious, who provides a beautiful and highly soothing environment (including foot rubs!), the highest quality technology and supplies. I was in the loop throughout my procedures to know exactly what was being done. Dr Fred took pictures of my teeth, and showed them to me so I could see what was wrong, what he needed to do, and how he was going to do it.

I have in the past endured alot of anxiety and overwhelm at the dentist. I hated it. Coming to the transcendentist is a whole new world. Worth the money. I feel taken care of, and I am definitely going back.

Thank you Dr. Fred and staff! I've previously seen going to the dentist as a necessary obligation. After (finally) taking a friend's advise I made an appointment at Transcendentist. I'm so happy I did. What a positive dental experience. I feel like I'm in the presence of a true healer. Two years ago I had 7 cavities filled by another dentist.

I left the appointment telling my sweetheart, "I feel like my mouth just fell apart." I assumed that was normal but unfortunate. I had nothing but pain and difficulty until meeting Dr. Fred and his team. With extraordinary professionalism he explained why I was so troubled. Now, with obvious talent, Dr. Fred is removing and replacing all of that previous work. We're only 1/2 way through the process but I'm amazed at how different I already feel. I'm totally impressed. Preface: I was going to give 3 starts, until I saw the two star review was offered 200$ per filling, when I was offered 400$ per filling. ABSOLUTELY FRAUDULENT ETHICS. They took advantage of my wallet and dental coverage, and me, a unemployed female in my 20s. Really disgusting to mix spiritual culture of the east with deep capital ransacking. I did receive a foot message, and the dental hygienist was great. Everything else gives me grief.

I could not be happier with the care I have received at Transcendentist. Both my husband and I travel from the south bay to see Dr. Fred and his excellent team. Completely worth the trip! Before being referred to their office, we had been searching for a dentist's office that we could trust. Here we struck gold. They truly care for their patients and provide the highest quality of care with cutting edge technology.

One of the major reasons why we continue to make the trip up to Berkeley to see Transcendentist is their awareness and concern for limiting our exposure to chemicals during the dentistry process. My husband had his mercury filling removed here because Dr. Fred specializes in safe removal of mercury. If you are looking for a dentist that really cares about your health and wellbeing, Transendentist is where you want to be.

Always an amazing dental experience. Dr. Fred and the staff at Transcentdentist Dentist operate a truly first-class dental spa. I've been a patient for about 3 years now and I can honestly say my smile (and overall oral health) has benefited from Dr. Fred's extraordinary talent, professionalism and courtesy. I 100% trust his judgement and outlined treatment plan. His staff is truly outstanding - individually and collectively. I could not recommend this dentist more highly!

I have been a patient of Dr. Fred for about 6 years and I am very happy with the service which he has provided. Preventative dentistry is very important to me and this is his specialty. I trust that he and his team are helping me to maintain my oral health to the highest standard. I feel safe knowing that he uses microscopic equipment to examine my teeth so that we can address cavities before they grow to be a pain.

I appreciate how he takes the time to listen to me and communicate what he sees. I also appreciate how he has done a good job at building and maintaining the team of people who I interact with when I visit the office. I just had 6 cavities filled by Dr. Fred last week and I really liked that since we caught the cavity development early enough, he was able to perform the procedure without drilling using a technique called air abrasion. I can't even begin to express how happy I am to have found the office of Transcendentist. I was referred to Dr. Fred by my Chiropractor who had nothing but good things to say. The office is nicely decorated, clean, relaxing and VERY updated / high tech. My last dentist hadn't updated any of his equipment since the 80's and Dr Fred's office is the exact opposite.

He has all the latest equipment to get the detailed information he needs to make informed decisions about your dental health. Also, everyone there is super nice and they even have a stuffed toy they give to my dog every time we visit, that they reclaim and wash prior to our next visit. You even get a nice foot massage while your getting your work done. My dog Timmy and I strongly recommend the whole gang at Transcendentist!

Another reviewer (Palmira A.) below had a similar experience as I did. I had a couple of really great cleanings with this office, loved the atmosphere, and had been looking forward to seeing them for the long haul. However, after my second or third cleaning things took a turn for the weird. During my latest cleaning, after the last cleaning being completely great, I was told that I had 6 cavities (I've only had 1 cavity in my entire life, eat well, and brush well -- I could do better flossing.but couldn't we all :) ).

When I asked Dr. Pockrass about if they were full on cavities or if this was a preventative suggestion I got a non-clear answer but was told that I would "eventually need to do something about them" implying that the $3K in cavities they were assuming would need to be done. My spidey sense went off and I saw another dentist to get a second opinion.

When I got the second opinion I was told that I had 2 minor cavities and that they would only be about $200 each to fill.the difference was staggering. I've since switched dentists to Dr. Burg on Broadway and have been very happy. Like the other reviewer said, the cleaning was great (and I think even the hygienist was confused by the doctor's recommendation), but I honestly wouldn't go back because I don't think they have their customers in mind especially when the explanation for something so expensive and unexpected was paltry.

If you are looking to experience the best dental work of your life, you should go to Dr. Fred. They are super friendly and professional. I was always scared of going to the dentist, even for regular check ups. Ever since I have been visiting Dr Fred, I look forward to my next visit. No joke, I go there to relax. They have made the environment so relaxing and calming that you won't want to leave. Dr Fred himself is so amazing as doctor and person.

He is down to earth and cares for your overall health, exactly how a good doctor should be. Beside my amazing experience with them, I am very satisfied with my dental work. I am a student and obviously broke, but my experience with them was worth every penny. You will not regret your choice of going to him for your dental work.

I'm ultimately a bit confused about how I felt after my first visit here. The office has great technology and the approach is very zen (swirly colors on the walls, complimentary foot massage), which was a very pleasant atmosphere. Their dental hygienist was phenomenal and had a great touch. I'd definitely go back for that service. So at this point you're probably like "why the three stars then?" Well, while I was there they somehow convinced me that I needed to get EIGHT fillings (I'm 23, I take good care of my teeth and I don't actually have any cavities) to preempt cavities where my enamel was weaker.

Before I realized that I had a say in what was going on, I'd been booked a follow up appointment that was going to cost me thousands of dollars. So ultimately while their atmosphere was nice, when I thought about it it really felt like I'd just been pressured into spending a lot of money. I did not feel respected as a customer and a human being.

And considering how expensive this place is, they really shouldn't have an "out-for-your-money attitude. Like I said though, I would go back for the dental hygienist. She was great. EDIT: 6/3/2018, changing review to 5 stars. The establishment has been taken over by head dentists - two WONDERFUL and capable women who really care about providing good service and take time to explain to you what the situation is and what your options are.

Really feels like they care about providing trustworthy, quality service. The rest of the staff is still there and as pleasant and personal as always. This place is perfect now - highly recommend!
