I was told by a periodontist to call and schedule an appt with this office and that the doctor will be able to help with my urgent needs as a general dentist. I called this office multiple times when I was in severe pain before I could get a hold of someone. I finally was able to speak to Eileen which I believe is a close relative of the dentist which explains her feeling comfortable to be unprofessional with patients.
She did not want to schedule the consult until I filled out paperwork on their portal. I filled out the forms and called back only to get told She was not able to get me in and had to schedule me out 3 months. But yet she wanted the paper work done prior to scheduling me. With the type pain I have and having seen few dentist I asked Eileen to ask the doctor a question.
I waited two or three weeks when we connected she said I asked if she was able to ask the doctor the question I had. Her careless response was I don't remember the question at all so you'll have to tell me the question again. I told her that I would call back because I am on the other line and was not feeling that great. I tried calling the office multiple times for 2 months and emailing them requesting a call to remind Eileen of the question that she forgot but received no response. 2 months later I called in and was finally able to get through and it was Eileen.
I let her know that it's been very hard to get a hold of them on the phone and I did not receive a response back on multiples calls and email and that I've been in pain and want to check for cancellation and give her the question that she forgot about. Her response was that I was not nice last time we spoke and I am already on schedule so She did not need to call me back and suggested that she already spoke to the doctor about the "issue" and that I should probably not establish care with the doctor.
There was no issue. The only issue is she failed to follow through on a question with the dentist. I could not believe that this is response I received. I told her I would let my periodontist figure this out with the dentist. Her response, thats fine you can go ahead and complain about me to the periodontist. My appointment time came around I realized I didn't get any email, call or text reminder. Needing to confirm the appt since I am 2.5 hours away I was able to message the dentist on her emergency line and explained that I need to confirm an appt that i haven't received a a reminder for.
The dentist response was, you don't have an appointment I am with a patient and cannot address this further. So Eileen cancelled the appointment without informing me. I waited almost a month and messaged the dentist asking for a follow up regarding my cancelled appointment. I have yet to receive a response back. Eileen behavior and lack of work ethics with potential new patients and probably established is extremely rude and unprofessional.
This type of behavior would not be tolerated in any other healthcare or dental office. What's truly more disappointing is the dentist not reaching out to look into things and schedule my cancelled appt that I waited 3 months for.

The best dental office I've ever had experience using. Jessica the dental hygienist is a huge part of what makes this place great. She is gentle yet effective, has a great personality and cares very much about the patient. I'm not the super talkative type, but recently had to fill her in on a bunch of bad news in my life regarding back problems. She stopped what she was doing and gave me her full undivided attention while listening. I don't even get that kind of care from the health professionals I see for my back problems.

I'm deeply grateful I found Dr. Chalmers. The initial visit was very insightful and VERY thorough. Dr. Chalmers understands that pain in the jaw/teeth can come from a variety of sources. She assessed muscular tension, alignment and movement of the jaw, quantity of saliva and pH, and many other things and all the standard dental exams (x-rays, gums, etc).
Her assessment determined a mechanical/movement problem of the jaw that would explain the tension and the pain. I cannot recommend her practice enough, it was well worth the wait to get in!

I drive 2 hours each way with my boys to see Dr. Chalmers, who also has a background in naturopathic and functional medicine. Im a physician trained in functional medicine, and I wouldnt trust our dental care to anyone else. Dr. Chalmers is very knowledgeable and conservative in the treatments she recommends. She has a broad understanding of oral health and its connection to other diseases. She is one of a kind and worth the drive.

Very disappointed with the overall quality of care, this business is very disorganized. Every appointment takes 2-3 months to schedule due to constant overbooking, so after wasting the whole year, thousands of dollars, and not accomplishing anything I just gave up. Why take new patients, if you never have time to treat them? This experience was very frustrating, emotionally draining and costly.

We have been seeking out a holistic dentist and I am blessed to have found this practice for myself, and now for my family as well. They are fantastic and really know their stuff. Dr. Chalmers saved my teeth and restored them to gorgeous again, she believes in saving the integrity of the tooth and avoiding invasive procedures if at all possible. Staff is genuine and very friendly.

I am extremely disappointed in the quality of care I received at this dental office. This is the most expensive dental clinic I have ever heard of and the quality of care I received there was poor. There are many wonderful dentists that charge half as much and give me excellent care. I will not be returning to this elite clinic that gave me very poor treatment.
I paid $4,000 for a bridge that lasted one year. Another dentist I am now working with quoted me $1,400 for the same type of bridge. There are other holistic dentists that charge the same as other dentists. I was impressed by the website and credentials but for a bridge there is no difference between holistic and regular dentistry. I made a huge mistake getting my work done here.

I drive two hours for my kids to see Dr. Chalmers. She is one of a kind. She understands the connection between oral health and the rest of the body. She follows safe protocols, and the fact that she is also trained as a naturopathic doctor means that she takes a very holistic approach to dentistry. Highly recommend her.

I had the last of my mercury amalgams removed this week by Dr. Chalmers. It was a source of great anxiety for me because of various health issues. Dr. Chalmers was absolutely amazing, kind, and a true artist. She saved a tooth that I was at risk of losing, and the entire side of my mouth is now a work of art. Her dental assistant, Angela, was also a genuine pro and exceptionally caring.
I had the song "I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends" on repeat and I knew I could not have been in better hands and hearts. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Chalmers being a superb dentist, and for being a stellar human being.

I completely trust Dr Chalmers expertise and skill. I was living out of the area for a while and saw another dentist. During a visual exam they remarked at how impressive it was that I didn't have any fillings. I have fillings. Dr Chalmers work is so great that another professional thought I had never had any work done.

The BEST dentist and staff around! Mary Ellen Chalmers is impeccable in her holistic approach and procedural execution. Her broad and deep knowledge and know-how is matched by her kindness and caring. Her office manager/receptionist Sharon is equally excellent. Detailed, kind, and caring, Sharon goes the extra mile to make it all feel easy. I cannot speak highly enough of both Mary Ellen and Sharon and have referred many over the years to this dental office.

I am an acupuncturist who utilizes functional medicine & am so grateful that I found Dr. Chalmers years ago. I had been to every other holistic dentist in the area and she is by far the best. She is brilliant, careful, fastidious, and kind. She solved ongoing problems that the other dentists i had seen did not. Dr. Chalmers takes the time to explain things, is proactive and is the only dentist I know of who has not only completed all of the training at the Institute for Functional Medicine, but also teaches for them which I find very impressive.
I have referred many friends and clients to her. Her staff is also great. Sharon at the front desk is always helpful and kind, & is a delight to speak with. And Jessica, the hygienist, is also great.

When you choose the "best of the best" you definitely have to compete with everyone else who wants the "best of the best" When I first called, I had been to my general dentist, my primary care doctor and my dermatologist and nobody could tell what was going on which made me feel a wee bit crazy for complaining, BUT the initial conversation with Sharon, the receptionist was so excellent that some professional could tell me what my problem was.
First I began to experience a tingling in the middle of my lower lip which eventually over the next few weeks extended to the crook of my mouth! Sharon rightly explained after I answered some questions about my situation that in all probability this tingling was in fact a galvanic response to metal on metal, meaning the metal prongs of my lower removable partial were contacting two different metals, one being a "silver" amalgam gum lined filling AND the metal from a more than 10 year old crown.
At age 81 I am a bit "long in the tooth", meaning my gums have receded leaving a space between the gum line and the lower end of the crown which necessitated the filling from my general dentist. I was very dissatisfied when I learned after the fact that it had been filled with amalgam, but it was a done deal by then and he wasn't amenable to changing it!
In addition I was experiencing a soreness that was centered in my upper left jaw and the sensation was referred on one side to the side of my nose and on the other side to the middle of my ear. Sharon rightly advised me to have an I-Cat xray to determine the source of the upper jaw sensation. Thanks for her amazing knowledge and her desire to be helpful to someone who had had zero confirmation from other medical and dental professionals, I am forever grateful.
As for Dr. Chalmers, I can't believe my good luck to have "accidentally" such a gifted human being. Not only is she the "best of the best" as far as any dental work that needs to be done, she is warm, sensitive, listens to the patient's concerns and most importantly can diagnose the problem without the patient left feeling like they were a mental case!
Because she is without a doubt the BEST dentist, holistic or otherwise, I ever had the privilege to be taken care of by and her knowledge of integrative medicine treats the whole person as well. BUT be prepared you will have to compete with others who also have learned of her abilities and personality and competence so all are competing for her time, and Sharon does her very BEST to provide a t time slot for the work needing to be done the soonest it is possible. Frankly, you should be so LUCKY to have Dr. Chalmers remove your amalgam fillings or provide her incomparable services on any othe dental work you need done!
