This dentist completely mismanaged a veneer procedure. In the consultation, he did not provide an assessment of risks to include a review of dental history. He also failed to talk about the steps involved in the application of a temporary veneer. His temporary veneer turned out to be extremely bulky. When asked why the temporary was unsatisfactory, he gave assurances that the permeant veneer would correct for this.
But the permanent veneer was also very bulky. So infuriating! At this stage, I had to find another dentist to have the work corrected. In correcting the work, the other dentist found that there was an air bubble in the veneer that had been applied. This other dentist also made me aware of the risks that had not been discussed. This dentist projects an air of confidence, yet his work is performed in an incompetent way.
The worst part is that he does not provide a thorough evaluation of patient objectives, and does not perform a risk/ reward analysis. Without adequate information, it becomes difficult for the patient to make the correct decision regarding treatment options. Had there been an adequate consultation, errors could have been avoided.

Lawson Rener was ok for basic procedures. However, for more advanced procedures we felt that overall attention to detail was lacking. We were disappointed that he did not provide a greater range of treatment options, and felt that additional information would have been helpful with regard to decision making.

Dr. Rener saved my New Year! On his week off he cared enough about me, his patient, to meet me alone in his office for 2 teeth extractions. I have been a very difficult patient in missing more than a few past appointments. He could of been like most doctors and spoke to me about that's why you make your scheduled appointments speech. But he didn't, he instead proved himself to be a genuinely caring person. I highly suggest this awesome dentist! Thanks again Dr. Rener!

Dr. Renner's secretary is absolutely rude and obnoxious to say the least. They refused to take me because of a "conflict of interest" with another dentist that shares their office badgering me on why I would not see the other dentist, which would mean disclosing my personal medical information and complication from my visit. Really horrible experience.

Dr. Rener is the best dentist in town. It is always quick in and quick out at his office. His staff are competent and friendly. I've been seeing Dr. Rener for over 20 years. In that time, I have had many procedures done and managed by him, from cleanings, to bridges, to extractions; all were none of his fault. He does not do implants, nor root canals.
He sees many patients in a day, it is how he keeps in business. Pricing is fair. He'll never gig you. His knowledge and wisdom are beyond reproach. Ask him about his last Boy Scout campout, if you want to hear a good story while he is in your mouth. And wander around his waiting room gazing at his vast KCMO postcard collection.

This dentist botched a veneer procedure. I later received compensation and a refund from this dentist to have the work corrected. What is most concerning is that Dr. Rener didn't provide key information related to risks and alternative dental options. As a result, overall objectives were compromised.

I have been a patient of Dr. Lawson Rener for approximately 12 years and state emphatically that there is not a gentler or more professional dentist in the Kansas City Metro. Seeking out a dentist as an adult has always been a source of great anxiety because of trauma with a pediatric dentist as a child - until meeting Dr. Rener. Even his office staff are among the most compassionate and caring people I have met in healthcare. My confidence and trust in Dr. Rener is such that although I currently live in Minneapolis, MN I return to Kansas City, MO for any dental work that I need.

Dr. Rener has greatly helped me over the years. I have had many cavities and much fear of the dentist. Dr. Rener is compassionate, caring and listened to my concerns. He catered to my issues and was able to help me get my treatment done. I am much less fearful of the thought of painful dentistry. I am recommending him to anyone who needs a great dentist.

Dr. Rener has been my dentist for 6+ years. DISCLAIMER: I have good teeth so he has only done my cleanings, and I usually go early in the morning so I haven't met any other dentists or employees that work in the office. I chose Dr. Rener based on the fact that he accepts my insurance, he is close to my home, and he does early morning and some weekend hours.
I work in sales for health and dental insurance and we frequently talk about that. During my last visit we talked about people who usually say, "I don't like going to the dentist because it's painful" are usually the same people who don't go twice a year for their regular cleanings so their dental work usually IS painful. He was telling me that his strategy is to try to talk to the patient about getting on track to be back in control of their teeth, instead of letting their teeth have control of them. Also, during the whole time I've gone to him he's never once recommended additional or unnecessary procedures.
I finally asked him during that last visit if he COULD do something to my teeth, what would he do. It took him awhile to come up with some suggestions. What I'm trying to say is that he's never tried to up-sell me on additional procedures.
