One of the biggest annual events to help Ohio children is the Give Kids a Smile program, a year-round children's access event. Dentists and dental professionals volunteer their time to provide screenings, treatments and oral health education to Ohio children. Members of the Akron Dental Society enjoy all of the many member benefits of both the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. The Akron Dental Society is a nonprofit professional organization representing approximately 300 dentists in Summit and Portage Counties. The Akron Dental Society is a component of the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Its memberships consist of dentists, students, and other professionals related to dentistry and endorsed by the society.
Akron became an incorporated village in 1836 with a population of 1343 people. In 1843, Dr. Israel E. Carter became Akron's first resident dentist. By 1887, Akron had a population of over 10,000 people with 12 dentists. These dentists formed a professional organization which was the precursor to today's Akron Dental Society.
The Akron Dental Society Member list is compiled and published as a reference source of demographic and professional information on individual member dentists in the Akron, Ohio area. The general public may use this list to allow quick access to ADS member dentists. This list does not contain sufficient information from which to verify dentist credentials.
Members of the Akron Dental Society enjoy all the member benefits of the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
