The team at San Tan Dental Group will work hard to ensure you love your smile and your experience in the office. Our dentists help patients with dental issues that span from tooth decay, and gum disease, to missing teeth. Keep up with your dental hygiene by scheduling dental cleanings with our skilled hygienists.
You can expect high-quality dental care in a comfortable environment. We provide general dentistry as well as cosmetic dental options. The look and feel of your smile can bring you confidence! If you're interested in cosmetic options, we offer clear aligners for straighter teeth, veneers to enhance your smile, teeth whitening solutions, and dental implants.
Focus on stopping the bleeding and protecting the injured tooth or area by following the appropriate instructions in this section. Similar to braces, clear aligners use a gradual force to control tooth movement, but without metal wires or brackets. Routine dental checkups are vital to good oral hygiene and are the best way to detect problems at their earliest stages which saves unnecessary discomfort, time, and money. A filling repairs and restores the surface of a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fracture, or wear.
With proper care and good oral hygiene, the life of a tooth crown can range from 5 to 15 years. If a natural tooth-colored porcelain crown is chosen, our CEREC CAD/CAM treatment gives patients a completed permanent crown in just one office visit. Other types of crown require two office visits. Your dentist will recommend the best type of crown for your dental restoration needs based on the chewing placement and structure of the tooth or implant that requires protection. There are three types of crowns.

First I have to say I am not sure why there are 1 star reviews. I was hesitant to come here at first due to that but I'm so glad I did! Those reviews don't pertain to Dr Smith and his friendly and caring staff! From the moment I arrived I was greeted with a smile, taken back in a timely manner and the Dr and assistants were very kind and knowledgeable.
You can tell they are passionate about dentistry and making their patients feel comfortable! And i love that they are open on Saturdays! They exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be back!

Dr Smith and his team are beyond amazing! They are all really friendly and you can tell they are passionate about providing the best customer service. They are knowledgeable, explain everything and make sure I understood. They even have this high end technology that shows me the treatment plan and diagnosis visually which I thought was awesome! Dr smith eased all of my anxieties i had about going to the dentist! I've found my dental forever home!

I'm not a big dentist person. For the condition I was in having a bridge removed, they made me feel very comfortable and the entire was professional and polite. Also, I appreciate that even though I paid in full not having dental insurance, they did offer a generous payment plan which I thought was nice considering most will want all the money up front.

First of all I am not the type to post negative reviews on businesses but after today I feel the need to. I had an emergency appointment at 3:30 of which I scheduled a week ago for a chipped tooth. I got there at 3:15 filled out all their paperwork and waited until 4:30 to get taken back. The X-ray tech was great the doctor on the other hand wasn't.
He came in with in two minutes said I needed a crown. to the tune of 900.00. When i asked the doctor what exactly a crown was he proceeded to point to a poster and said that he wouldn't have time to do said service that he could tomorrow then walked out. Then the receptionist came in to talk about copayment she stated it wouldn't be until two weeks from today and had to explain to me what a crown was because my dentist couldn't be bothered with that question and was so disrespectful and pointed at an add poster for the types of crowns they use.
At this point I was done and walked out why make an appointment and not fix the issue? Why wouldn't he be bothered to talk to his patient when I had questions? I am mortified that they think this is acceptable behavior. I will never be back nor will I ever go to any place remotely affiliated with this business.

I made an appointment to get a cleaning as a new patient. I got there at 7::55am. By the time it was time for my cleaning --it was almost 10am. I waited for 1hr and 40 min to be seen by the dental hygienist. Only for her, to not do an adequate job. She only cleaned the front bottom teeth. She never bother to clean on the back of my molars or other areas.
They claimed my insurance covered the basic cleaning. I knew that. I did mention that particular information to them to avoid any misunderstandings. Oh, but guess what? They sure did try to push a crown on me. I had 3 people speak to me about the final price of the crown-- the dentist, the dental hygienist, and this lady who checked me in when I arrived for my appointment.
I think her name is Sylvia. Also, the dentist never mentioned 2 extra items he added onto the quote. One was: "color matching" of the crown. And the other had to do with the bone? Excuse me? Say what? Does he think I was born yesterday? And why would I pay for a crown, when I have veneers. The audacity of these people. I spoke to the manager and in her defense, she tried to schedule me with another dental hygienist.
At this point, I was so upset that I declined the offer and I also didn't accept the free toothbrush, and the chemical filled toothpaste they give the patients for free. I'm never going back. I will take my business elsewhere.

First of all, clients should be notified when the practice is sold and new dentists will be taking over. 3 to 5 years experience I was told by receptionist. In all fairness never got to be treated couldn't get past the front desk experience, Dr. Smith might be the best but doesn't matter his staff wasn't. People already aren't fond of going to the DDS having a questionable receptionist can make or break the exoerience.
The staff is the gateway to a good experience and successful practice. Anyway, called for a check up & cleaning appointment. I requested the new owner Dr. Smith. My theory is he would be more likely to be more accomodating and care as an owner. Shortly before my appt i received an email to confirm appt with a Dr. I'd never heard of and my last name mispelled.
I wish I remember who answered when I called because she needs some guidance. She was speaking to me in an exaggerated chipper yet condescending manner trying to rush me off the phone. When I pointed out I had been reassigned to someone I did not request I was told the descresion was theirs to reassign me since I was new there. As for mispelling my name an abrupt " it's fixed " was all I got.
Doesn't sound that major maybe but i'm one who has high anxiety/stress with some very bad dental experiences. I later cancelled my appt when I found another DDS in Gilbert and so glad I did. Got in the same day treated great. Overall an A+ facility & experience. Shop around people. If you can't even feel comfy with the front desk how can you with the DDS.
I hope the owner reads these less than stellar reviews and acts on them or I don't see the practice being as prosperous as it could be. Only the sincere best to Dr. Smith I know how hard he worked to get there having 2 children who are Dr's.

I really liked this dentist office before the changes. Not sure if it was a doctor or company but it's bad now. Some of their hygienist need to explain the why behind their recommendations. Ann I had to ask my bank to perform a chargeback because services they fail to perform/ inform in a timely manner and failed to refund in the promised time. I'm glad my insurance was able to allow me a excusal on this visit for another office.

Dr. Smith and his team are amazing! The front office and dental staff is always so nice and greet me with smiles! You can tell they really like what they do! Dr. Smith is gentle, knowledgeable, and honest! I have had so many bad experiences before coming to this dental office. I have a lot of anxiety and fear when it comes to my mouth and teeth and Dr. Smith and his team are always so patient, gentle and explain everything to me.
Most importantly, he is a pro at what he does! I definitely know I am getting quality dental work and its always such a pleasant and positive experience! I will be a patient for life!

Dr Smith is amazing & all the girls in the office are so sweet & kind. It's so pleasant going there, they are honestly there to help you. I needed emergency dental work, they got me in almost immediately took care of my issue & helped me set a care plan to get the rest of my mouth taken care of. They are so amazing & genuinely care about what they do.

San Tan Dental Group in Gilbert on Market Street is amazing. I have been coming here for 11 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Anything from concerns, health, and insurance. Dr Ryan communicates very well with concerns about the whole procedure (if having one done) to making sure you are always comfortable and not in pain. His dental assistant Lady is very sweet and efficient. I live in Glendale and make this drive because it's definitely worth it. You won't regret this dental office as a choice for all ages of your family!

Dr. Smith and his team are excellent. We have been coming to Dr. Smith for years because he always treats us with courtesy and respect. He makes sure you are comfortable and explains what he is doing and why it's important. The are friendly, thorough, and follow through. Thank you San Tan Dental Group!

I recently switched my dental plan and was assigned this office as my new dentist, I called to make an appointment and was hung up on after being placed on hold for 30 minutes. I called back and reached the office and they tried placing me back on hold and I let them know I had been on hold and was hung up on, I spoke with Erica who said she needed to put me on hold anyway.
When she got back on the line she didn't apologize and told me I would have to wait until May for my first appointment. She was so rude to me, I asked to speak with a manager and she informed me that she was a manager. What a joke, so unprofessional. I called my insurance right away and switched. I've never before left a bad review on Yelp but this definitely deserved one and after reading the reviews I know I wasn't the only one to have a bad experience.

Update, while the cleanings and exams have gone well, the actual dental work has not. To be fair, it's Dr. N who filled a cavity for me. The filling was too low, even though I never said it was high, he filed it down when I was numb. I couldn't chew properly on one side, He had redone the filling after a couple of months. Now it was sensitive too high.
I was treated like this was all my fault, complete with eye rolls between the dentist and his assistant when they thought I wasn't looking. Now my top front tooth is being worn on the inside because my bite is completely off and my teeth can't rest properly when at rest or asleep. This office has a dental plan, which I am on. You get what you pay for.

Given the current COVID environment, dentists and their patients are in a high risk setting. The San Tan Dental Group did not seem to be taking the appropriate precautions during my appointment, specifically having patient's wait in their car until they were ready for the patient, wearing N95 masks, or wearing face shields. The compounding factor for a 1-star rating was because a co-worker had been called a day before my appointment that her appointment 1 week later was cancelled due to half of the staff being positive for COVID.
No one mentioned this to me when I checked in for my appointment or called me prior to my appointment, and I found out she was called after I had already been seen at the office. Disappointed that they are selectively informing patients of staff being positive for COVID, especially given the significantly rising number of cases.

This review is for office management. I have been taking my kids here for cleaning for 3 years and we love the doctors. The problem is that almost every time they call me the week before the appointment to reschedule. Six months ago I showed up and they told me I didn't have an appointment, they were argumentative, yet I had the appointment card they had given me with the day and time.
They had no choice but to see my kids that day, yet they didn't apologize, they kept trying to put the blame on me for not calling to confirm when they hadn't even called me! Ok, I am a very calm and understanding person, but after 3 or 4 incidents like this, yesterday was the tip of the iceberg. They called and said they have to cancel my kids' appointments for next Wednesday (yes, less than a week away) BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A HYGIENIST ON THAY DAY!
So why even schedule or not call in advance!? Here comes the worst part."WE CAN RESCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER". Up to the point I still tried to remain calm and understanding, but when I told her we couldn't wait that long since my kid had a little spot on his tooth that the doctor had told me needed to be seen in no more than 6 months, I really needed to get him there.
Her response was "oh, I'm sorry about that". Needles to say I told them I was done with them. They didn't even try to work something out, which I am fine with because I am so done. It's a shame since the office and the doctors are great, but management is terrible

I'm so thankful I found this place! I had gone to a dentist who told me to take antibiotics for trial and error for pain and sensitivity I was having in a molar. I wasn't comfortable with that, and wanted a second opinion. My brother told me about San Tan Dental. Even though I was a new patient, they were able to get me in quickly. After some x-rays and a quick exam, Dr McDougall told me she didn't see an infection so there was no reason to take antibiotics, but I did need a root canal.
I was able to get that done with Dr Situ the next day! I've had a lot of dental work done over the years and it was probably the least painful experience I've had at the dentist! And Amy did a perfect temporary crown for me! When I went back to get the permanent crown done, I found out Dr McDougall had given me an upgrade on my crown but I hadn't been charged extra for it! Wow! I'm confused as to why this place is not rated higher on Yelp.
I have been in this office three times so far, and everyone has been absolutely wonderful! I am only in Arizona about once a month, but I think I'll be keeping San Tan Dental as my regular dental office from now on. Highly recommend!

I had been happy with this dental group for my kids so I decided to give it a try myself. Scheduled teeth cleanings for myself and my two teens at the same time on one day. Arrived ten minutes early and was told that they would not see me because I had not filled out my medical history ahead of time. Their reason was that it would "take most people 20 minutes to complete" and they "run a tight ship".
As I reviewed my son's medical history of about 10 questions on one page, I asked if that's what they were referring to. Yes, she said, "that would take you 20 minutes and we are on too tight of a schedule." Honestly, would have taken me about 2 minutes, tops. They preferred to lose my business rather than let me even attempt to complete the form.
As I waited for them to call my kids back, I timed it. About 10 minutes. I certainly would have had time. Disappointed that they would rather lose my business. Will go elsewhere. Wondering how much business they turn away due to this. If I owned that practice, I would not be happy. It's so unfortunate these days when "process" trumps good customer service.

Highly recommend San Tan Dental Group! I called right when they opened at 7am to see about getting my son squeezed in for an emergency toothache. They got us right in at 8am and we didn't have to wait long at all. In and out within 45 minutes. Dr. Mcdougall (sp?) was so sweet and very thorough with explaining what was needed. Front office is super nice and helped explain everything from a cost perspective.
My son is scheduled for the procedure and we are also scheduled to come back for a full exam and cleaning. We found our dentist for life! Thanks for a great experience, you have a wonderful team!

First time going here because of the fact that it was a very convenient location! Highly recommend for anyone in the Gilbert area looking for a dentist. I have never been to a dentist that was this fast and efficient. I would say the one negative to this location is when I first walked in to this office, I was greeted by a lady that made me feel uncomfortable from the beginning.
I appreciate her effort to be direct, but when dealing with patients, please be welcoming and kind. After getting called back, the genuine care from the hygienist and dentist put a smile on my face - fitting for the dentist! They made sure I was comfortable and talked as if they knew me already! Loved it and thank you for making a dental appointment a little less nerve wracking.

I never do this because I work in customer service and know how hard it is to handle hard situations at times, however. (Just an FYI, I have never had major dental surgery) The receptionist is a rude, self-righteous, argumentative, and unprofessional boar. Basically, the front desk woman, Brandy, decided to argue with me because she failed to give me a confirmation call nor did she ever mention any of the pre-surgery do's and Sony's.
I was clearly upset over this lack of information and rather than just apologize, Brandy decided to repeatedly mention she told me otherwise. She said I should have gotten a folder with all this information. I did not. So I am in excruciating pain and in desperate need for this surgery and bawling because the dentist (who was MUCH calmer and non-confrontational) confirmed he couldn't do the surgery before returning to another patient, she decided to take it upon herself to YELL at me that she told me I am lying.
And when I got mad, and told her she could've held her tongue for another 15-seconds before leaving, she stood up and yelled even louder. She seemed so nice when she was working with me to find an affordable payment plan. And then turned into a monster when I got upset because of how much pain I was in and the lack of communication I received in the MONTH I have been waiting.

I love this office. This was the first time I had come here, I was already a patient but couldn't make my first appointment. They fit me in after going to another dentist (chosen because they were close to my home), and that dentist messed up one of my fillings. I can't remember the name of the dentist who helped me but all of the staff is super friendly and caring.
I loved that they took everything I said and made sure to really accommodate me. I enjoy the fact that they face anxiety with a smile and show you that they're professional and are there for you. I would recommend!

It's not a 1-star review because they didn't cause any long-term damage or real physical pain. But that said, my experience here was not good. To get to the point, they installed a crown/cap on top of a rooted tooth, but it didn't fit right. It hung over the edge a bit. Eventually, the tooth cracked, a year before the warranty ran out. Here's the thing.
They were sketchy about honoring the warranty b/c they required me to come in and have it inspected every six months. They never told me that, and the paper I signed doesn't say that, either. Rather than argue with them, I just went to my regular dentist. In addition to this, when I first had the problem with this tooth, I asked them for a cleaning/exam, and they just ignored me and focused on the high-cost root canal. Skip these guys, there are plenty of great dentists here in Gilbert.
